Iconic Stadium In Melbourne
#melbournetrip
The guided tour of the MCG and the museum is a must while you are in Melbourne. The tour takes around an hour and you get to see most of the interesting parts of the ground - players box, media boxes, long room etc.
Lots of history and the guides are very knowledgeable. The museum is more of a kids activity centre with some exhibits.
MSG is brilliant stadium that has been host to Olympic and commonwealth games as well as large scale concerts and the best arena for AFL.It also host some soccer game when big clubs from premier leagues visit for pre season friendly.
Well signed, adequate transport options available and accessible friendly.
Would recommend the tour for $33.

I totally get what you mean about Melbourne - it's packed with so much to explore! 🌆 Unlike Sydney, it doesn't leave that sense of emptiness. The vibrant scenery here is just captivating. 🎨 There are loads of churches around, but as someone who's not religious, most seem superficial. Only a few truly stand out, like this church I deeply adore. 🏰 Its spontaneous aura is quite intense, yet being inside brings a sense of peace and calm. 🕊️ Maybe it was the perfect weather that day, or the people around, everything felt so atmospheric and memorable. If you're into visiting churches, you should definitely check out this one - St. Patrick's, the tallest Gothic Catholic church in the southern hemisphere! 🌟

Saint Patrick’s Cathedral - a Historic Site
#visitmelbourne #melbourne #australia #church
A serene sanctuary for Catholics (or everyone really) that goes all the way back to the 1800s. Imagine Melbourne’s growth that this church has seen in more than 200 years! The building is iconic with the black bricks, rather similar to those churches in Dublin and some part of UK.
Mass times stated below, but they are always open for visitors who just want to escape to the quiet spot away from the busy city, lit some candles and pray.
Address - 1 Cathedral Pl, East Melbourne, Australia
Mass Time:
- Monday to Friday: 7am and 1pm
- Saturday 8am and 6pm (Vigil Mass)
- Sunday 8am, 9.30am, 11am and 6.30pm
Melbourne St. Patrick's Cathedral
St. Patrick's Cathedral is located near the Melbourne city center and can be reached by tram in a few stops.
This church can be considered the largest and tallest Catholic church in the southern hemisphere.
The church was officially opened in 1897, but the three Gothic spires above were not completed until 1939.
Visiting the church is free and open on weekdays, but there are not many people who come to visit. On weekends, there are people taking wedding photos and holding wedding ceremonies here.
The church is built of bluestone, with undulating and uneven walls on the inside, dark gray to black in color, solemn and magnificent, grand and eye-catching, gorgeously decorated yet dignified, fully showcasing the architectural style of the Renaissance.
Business hours are usually from 8:30am to 5:00pm. There is a Sunday service, which usually starts at 9:00am.

Cooks' Cottage Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Australians kept Captain Cook's home in Britain intact and moved it to Melbourne! It was James Cook who first discovered and explored the Australian continent. In honor of this explorer, Australian businessmen bought the former residence of Cook in Britain and gifted it to the city of Melbourne.
The Route 35 tram in downtown Melbourne
The Route 35 tram circles the most central area of downtown Melbourne, offering free rides to citizens and tourists. There are stops at all the important sights and landmark buildings, making it convenient for passengers to get on and off.
The hotel we stayed at was not far from a stop, and it was very convenient to take the tram for a spin.
Along the way, there were several open parks of various sizes, with lush trees and green lawns. The little house with a TV station doing a program, known as 'Captain Cook's Cottage', is presumably one of the captains of the first few British ships that came to the Australian continent.
In the center of the park, there is a small old building, an indoor garden, where the flowers bloom large and bright.
Taking the Route 35 tram, we visited the State Library of Melbourne in the city center. It's also a place worth seeing. After visiting the library, we had coffee at the café by Door 2, took a short rest, and even took a photo with the friendly waiter.
Wandering around the library area was quite interesting too.
Cooks Cottage
#melbournetrip Cooks Cottage is a great part of history and is the actual brick home of British navigator and explorer Captain James cook’s parents. Built in 1755 this cottage was originally built in Great Ayton in Yorkshire, England. It was brought to Melbourne in 1934 brick by brick and reconstructed here. Definitely worth checking out how they lived in England around 1750’s and don’t forget to check the Stable at the back of the cottage for more information about Cook’s voyages and about him & his family.
Australia's oldest building
#melbournetrip
Cooks Cottage is in the picturesque Fitzroy Gardens, walking distance from the centre of Melbourne.
The cottage is a modest structure, but it is said to be the oldest intact building in Australia, even though it is from North Yorkshire.
This quaint cottage is not a mansion, but most visitors agree that the cottage, with its garden and period furniture, is well worth a visit.

Autumn outing to the Fizzroy Gardens.
Second time coming here. I have to say the greenery here is really good. There are towering ancient trees everywhere inside. The green grass is like a carpet, and you can't see any soil exposed, so it's very clean. Plus, the blue sky, white clouds, and clear sky are a great backdrop. It's really nice. This is mainly a place for local people to walk their dogs, run, and take their children for a walk. There is no need to come here specifically.
Fire Services Museum of Victoria Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Fire Services Museum of Victoria 🔥✨
I had a great morning at the old Eastern Hill Fire Station, it's like a time capsule, and it totally fascinated me. 🫶🏻
The station has a few activities too. You can put on some old uniforms, there's a giftshop, interactive displays about the history of fire fighting in Melbourne etc. 👀
I learned things I did not know before. It’s such an extensive collection of memorabilia there are a number of items not kept on site as there is no room for everything! All the displays are diligently labelled and volunteer staff happy to chat and explain anything further. 🥰
Will take around 45 minutes to see and read everything. Had a great time here, really recommended 👍🏻✨

#melbournetrip Amazing history of Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Bridge. The volunteers that assist there are VERY informative and knowledgeable.
Highly recommended a visit here.
What a fascinating snapshot of our firefighting history. I took my two toddlers and it was kid friendly and fun. Staff were so welcoming and friendly. The info session was sensational and the kids loved sitting in the fire truck!!
Everyone loves a fire truck.
