Luodai, known as the 'Famous Hakka Town and Guild Hall Village'

Luodai is a town under the jurisdiction of Longquanyi District, Chengdu. Over 85% of the residents in the town are Hakka people, who still speak Hakka dialect and follow Hakka customs, making it known as the 'First Hakka Town in Western China.' Hakka people are a branch of the Han nationality, named for their migration and settlement in other places. The Hakka people in Luodai Town migrated here during the 'Huguang Fills Sichuan' period. Over the centuries, they have made indelible contributions to the economic recovery and cultural prosperity of Bashu. The old street of Luodai town is mainly in the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty, with a 'one street and seven alleys' layout. The most distinctive buildings are the four major guild halls of Guangdong, Jiangxi, Huguang, and Northern Sichuan, and the Boke Building, making it a true 'Famous Hakka Town and Guild Hall Village'. A guild hall, as the name suggests, is a place where people from different places gather and live. It is a product of specific historical conditions during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and a place for people of different nationalities to connect with their hometowns and worship local sages. The Luodai Guild Hall is located on the old street of the ancient town. The architecture is magnificent and the layout is rigorous. It not only reflects the architectural style of the immigrants' original homes, but also combines the characteristics of Sichuan architecture. The interior components are exquisite and delicate, and various decorative patterns are lifelike. Among them, the Guangdong Guild Hall is one of the best preserved and largest guild halls in the country, and its firewall architectural style is rare in Sichuan; the Northern Sichuan Guild Hall reflects the social life of immigrants from Northern Sichuan, and the remaining Wannian Platform is the only well-preserved building in the Chengdu area guild hall. The Luodai Guild Hall has preserved a wealth of cultural heritage in architecture, gardens, stone carvings, calligraphy, and couplets. In 2006, the Luodai Guild Hall complex was listed as the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
