The Unique Talaiotic Culture of Menorca

Taulas, stone monuments found in Menorca, resemble Stonehenge and were built by the Talaiotic culture between 500 BC and 300 BC. These structures consist of a vertical pillar with a horizontal stone on top, often enclosed by a U-shaped wall. While their exact purpose remains unknown, they likely had religious and/or astronomical significance. Many taulas face south, suggesting an astronomical connection. Some speculate they were part of an ancient healing cult. Examples can be found at various sites, including Torre Trencada, Talatí de Dalt, Torrellissá Nou, Trepucó, and Torralba d'en Salord.
