Upavan Resort

Good afternoon. My husband and I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days at Upvan Resort Lakkidi, in the first week of March. We had a great stay. Big and clean room facing the mountains. The ***ager Anil. Front office staff Divya made our stay super comfy. They arranged for a car to do sightseeing. Mr.Shahnavaz the driver was a blessing. I told him all the places I wanted to see and he planned a perfect itinerary. Coming to the room the coffee, tea,sugar,creamer and waterbottles were refilled everyday without our telling. This usually NEVER happens in other hotels. The property is so good with watch tower, pool etc. On the flip side is the restaurant experience. Maybe it was off-season Dhanya madam did her best to make our dining experience comfortable but low score on taste.. We highly recommend this resort.

MakeMyTrip suggested this resort for my Wayanad trip and booked Green View Deluxe Non AC room. It was very disappointing when we checked in and saw the room. Here is my detail feedback: - Room was like low grade hotel room, stinky, dusty and very small. - Plastic cups are provided that with 2 designs (very funny and never expect in 3* hotels). - Steel Tray was provided and with sachets packed in zip covers (not even arranged). - Old furniture with dirty pillows and hard bed. Pool and outside was not maintaining properly and with full of dust. - Bathroom are stinky with phenyl smell - Balcony is very small with dust and with bird drops - The lobby is like old hostel lobbies I ordered Chicken Fried Rice and 1 milk for my baby hence not commenting on food quality. Not sure on other room categories (Honeymoon) and Cottages. I immediately shifted to other resort and stayed there. Few pics I am sharing and just want to let other not to spoil their vacations.

We stayed at Upavan resort during the Chris**as vacations. The room was comfortable enough. But one disappoin**ent was that though we specifically booked a triple room, the third bed was just a mattress on the floor. The reason given was that the room had no provision to have an extra cot. This was not mentioned at the time of booking and so left a bad feeling. The restaurant timings were clearly mentioned at the reception. But even on reaching 30 minutes past the starting time, things were nowhere near ready. This was the case for all meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The worst part was that every night there was a so-called “DJ” blasting loud music till late hours. Our room unfortunately was overlooking the DJ area so we could not get a wink of sleep until the DJ was done for the day. I don’t have anything against bollywood and Punjabi party songs …infact I usually enjoy them. But did not get why this was being played in Kerala. It felt totally out of place and unnecessary at a place where people typically come to feel closer to mother nature.

Location - Slightly outside of Wayanad, near Lakkidi view point. You need your own vehicle or reserved car for communication. Excellent view from the resort. You can see tea plantation beside the resort. Rooms - Rooms are very spacious, neat and clean. It is cleaned every day. I could not get any foul smell anywhere. Washroom was clean and had all the toiletries. Geyser was available. The way to the rooms is little steep, elders may face little difficulty. Rooms have small balcony, which has excellent mountain view and tea plantation within reach. No lift in the building. There are some villas at the top of mountain, walking there could be difficult for elders. Service - Service was excellent, we received support whenever required. They have the jeep to lift the luggage and elders to the rooms while check-in & check-out. Facilities - They have swimming pool with clean water, basket ball court, badminton court & rackets at the lawn. They also have indoor games like carrom, chess, table tennis at the top of the mountain, you have to climb up. There is a watch tower at the top, which has nice view. There is no spa available at the resort. Food - Breakfast, dinner was buffet with ***y varieties (both veg & non-veg). Lunch was al-a-carte. Excellent quality and sufficient. The quantity was enough for the visitors. Room service was available but we preferred to go to the dinning hall and have food. The dinning hall is a big one. Everyday they change the food items. Breakfast was included in my booking. We generally did not take lunch as we went out for sight-seeing. We used to have buffet dinner.

Property is ok.I will rate 3 star..staff is friendly and vegetarian choice is limited. Taste can improved and also amenities can be improved. Things can be better planned. Rooms are ok.Outside view is good, but only if u have taken high rise property.
