The Ven at Embassy Row, Washington, D.C., a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Dupont Circle Washington D.C.|0.42km from Spanish Steps
On Monday, May 30, Memorial Day, I purchased two day passes to the Ven's Rooftop pool. It was great weather and the DC public pools were, for the most part, closed. Rather than spend 2k+ on a pool membership in the region (cannot afford that), my son and I have set a goal to hit as many hotel rooftop pools that offer daypasses. The Ven was a nice experience. So, I could totally recommend the one-off visit to the pool and to check out the views of DC. Totally fun to see the Dupont circle Metro stop glass roof (being repaired) and a number of other cool buildings. Always a plus-- my son didn't bring any devices, so he read books and lounged by the pool. It's not really a great lap swimming pool there at the Ven. But, I once had someone teach me how to ”Aqua-jog” and no one there made me feel like I was an idiot for doing that. The package supposedly includes the hotel's gym. But that's in the basement of the hotel. It felt like it was a little understaffed at the hotel and I didn't feel comfortable asking for access. Anyway, I was there for the pool. I also was not offered my ”canned cocktail of choice.” I could have demanded it, but the very sweet gentleman tending the pool food bar/drinks was on his third day, and was a little befuddled that I didn't have a room number to charge things to. HOWEVER, I will admit, I tipped the gentleman and he helped us manuever getting two loungers. THAT WAS WORTH IT. He was super helpful. It was crowded and I was not excited about spending the day there sitting on benches. I asked and 20 minutes later he helped us make it work. THANK YOU. So, for a one-off-- totally worth it! Will I pay a monthly membership fee. Maybe not. Unless people somehow hook me up very clearly with that air hockey table...

The hotel is huge and one of the more affordable one around DC. The aircon in the room is a little noisy but the operation guy came and says that’s the way it is. I asked for kettle to boil water and it came quite quickly though. There’s a usd20 surcharge per room per night but you can offset by meals in the hotel. The front desk also provides bottled water FOC upon request. Overall an ok stay.

The room is good, it feels that the service does not match the hardware of the hotel, it seems that their front desk is more enthusiastic to serve whites! The small refrigerator is still locked, it is speechless, and I have lived in many high-end hotels. This situation is unique... Overall, the experience is not so good, it needs to be improved, there is no coffee machine in the room, the front desk says that the lobby is always available. However, after the first day of drinking, there was no more 😓😓😓😓😓 friends lived next to Hyatt, which is a good price.

This was the second Residence Inn we stayed in during our trip to DC and it was excellent, just like the first one was. It’s conveniently located and very clean. The folks at the front desk are very helpful and the breakfast is excellent. Our room was spacious but the AC was very loud. We had them come and look at it, but it continued to be loud. Regardless, we had a great stay and enjoyed the beautiful walk to Georgetown for dinner.

I've stayed in 6 different hotels in D.C. in the past year. This is one to which I'll definitely return. The location works well when I'm visiting my daughter at college. And, as I like to walk, it's an easy walk to a good Whole Foods and the Foggy Bottom metro station. Its also a fairly long--but pleasant--walk to the White House, Lincoln Memorial, etc. The rooms are large. The bathrooms are extremely well thought out. The shower was huge with a textured floor that prevented slipping. Our room on the front of the hotel was quiet enough for us to sleep well. We liked the front desk staff. The housekeeping staff did a great job! The only thing that gave us pause was that you have to go up a small flight of stairs to reach the elevator and there's no bellman. However, the front desk staff immediately offered to carry our heavy suitcases up the stairs, so we were fine. We liked the neighborhood, and there's an excellent bakery/coffee shop (Tatte) nearby. This hotel is definitely a keeper.

I stayed in a shared room (females only), and this was perfect for me because I was only there for a couple nights and just needed a place to sleep since I was out all day long. The Generator checked all the boxes and I felt safe sharing my room. The red line is only minutes away and there are multiple buses that can take you wherever you need to be! Everyone was very helpful and kind.
