Rosselli AX Privilege

We've just returned from spending four days at the Rosselli. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. There were many positives and one or two comments from previous guests which point out areas where things could be improved and ones which we probably tend to agree with. The biggest positives were the majority of the staff, particularly the breakfast staff. They were attentive, very pleasant and worked extremely well as a team. Others working in and around the hotel were friendly, helpful and very discrete. Standards of professionalism, dress and presentation from all were very high indeed. Our room (a pleasantly surprising upgrade) was somewhat unusual in design and decoration but it was very well presented and ALWAYS well serviced by the domestic staff. The general decor of the hotel was a pleasing mix of modern and traditional and the sheer height of what must have been the central courtyard of the original building was stunning. However, in our opinion, the lounge area failed to match up with the entrance and reception areas in terms of a**osphere and tradition. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast outside on all four mornings of our stay and could not find fault with the selection, standard or presentation of the food. As previously mentioned, it was served in style, with a smile and a chat about the day. Excellent! We had dinner at Grain Outside on one occasion and were left feeling rather confused as to what we were expected to choose. Having settled for a traditional three courses of starter, main and desert, we felt that the staff were somewhat perplexed that we hadn't "shared" or gone down the line they had been trained to suggest. We like to make our own choices in a relaxed a**osphere. Having a son who owned and obviously worked in a Michelin recognised restaurant in England, we have experienced food and service of a very high standard. However, we did feel that we were being led to where we didn't wish to go. We enjoy modern, simple, good quality food in a proper but relaxed setting.nf Unfortunately, Grain Street wasn't really for us. Outside of the hotel was noisy, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. We were in the middle of a vibrant capital city and tourist destination, what else could we expect? Perhaps it says a great deal about everything good about the hotel that we "old grumpies" didn't let it bother us and we went to sleep looking forward to the next morning, a lovely breakfast and a new venture. All in all, a wonderful stay in a special hotel if somewhat busy but splendid Valletta. A special place - hotel and city.

Nice hotel and very good location. Very friendly staff especially the ladies at breakfast. Disappointed that our deluxe room had a very small window low down so little natural light and no view to speak of. Non-slip mat for shower should be standard. Limited storage space in the bathroom.

This hotel was style over substance. Prosecco and service on arrival. Top end interior design but not practical. The rooms were noisy. Pillows uncomfortable. There was nowhere to get ready - no dressing table or mirror meaning I had to sit on the floor by the wardrobe to dry hair and do make up, using the wardrobe light which kept clicking off. There was no bathroom door and no mirror demisters or extraction fan so the whole room filled with steam and steamed up all the mirrors. Air con solved it but it wasn't warm when we were there so made the room too cold. The toilet light was on a sensor and timer so turned on when you moved anywhere within 3 meters of it then stayed on for ages. Awful in the middle of the night. Pool is tiny and cold and has walls on there sides making it unappealing. Sun terrace is 60% in permanent shade. The staff were lovely. Breakfast was gorgeous. Had a cute little gym but I wouldn't stay again or recommend it. It actually limited the last few days of our holiday because we slept so badly we were too tired.

This is a very attractive hotel in a great location in Valletta. The staff are kind and helpful. It should be perfect but actually the sound proofing is poor, the pillows uncomfortable and the rooms very impracticable laid out, style over usability. Valletta is a great part of Maltaz wonderful restaurants and bars right outside the door and fantastic streets to wander round, right near a truly impressive bat.

Delightful ambience and incredible service from all of Team Rosselli - special mention to Ahmad, Katherine and Cynthia . The accommodation was as its star rating suggested but it’s true to say that the exceptional customer service elevated Rosselli to Outstanding!

Staff were exceptionally good. It’s a pleasant boutique hotel that is only let down by some very peculiar interior design. The room we stayed in was very dark with the strangest lighting configuration I’ve ever come across. Couldn’t see to shave and trying to figure out how to control the lighting was a challenge. Especially after a few beers!!! I missed not having a desk as I tend to work when on holiday (self employed) and would have expected a work station in a room of this size. The shower is over a circular bath, again form over function as the controls are not intuitive and the curtain doesn’t prevent water spilling onto the tile floor. Once wet this is a slip hazard with nothing to hold onto as you exit the shower. I’m reasonably agile so not an issue but if you have any mobility issues this could be a real issue. Finally, if you book try and get a room away from the Main Street. Our room overlooked Merchant Street and there is a noisy bar playing loud music till the early hours. No double glazing so unless you are a heavy sleeper you will need to wait till after midnight to get your head down. In summary we really enjoyed our stay primarily due to the quality of the staff, all of which were very attentive. It’s in a great spot for the city too. We’d stay again but probably in a different room.

Stayed in the sister boutique hotel AX St John.. excellent in every respect. Room big, comfortable and really well designed and decorated. Very comfy bed, great shower. Complimentary water, tea and coffee in room. Restaurant and lobby in Roselli. The team are exceptional. Friendly, informative, and nothing is too much trouble. Super central location right in the middle of everything Valletta has to offer.

This is a lovely hotel in the heart of Valletta so as soon as you walk out of the door you are right amongst, well, everything: history, restaurants, night life it is all there. Our room was lovely, very well presented and equipped with all you could want including in our case a sauna which I became a little bit addicted to. So far so five star boutique hotel. The real thing that set this hotel apart were the staff, they were unfailingly polite, helpful and very competent a great mix that is much harder to pull off than you might imagine. All were very approachable and keen to help, not just the front of house team but the housekeepers as well. This was tested as on our last night my wife fell ill and we had to stay for one more day. The team were great, we stayed in the same room and were charged the same nightly rate as our original booking (made seven months before). I thoroughly recommend this hotel and its very well chosen staff to those wishing to visit the bustling capital of Malta.
