MuntaeCara Hotel Diffuso

I absolutely LOVED my stay! The hotel service was awesome. I had an issue with my booking and they went above and beyond to resolve it. The room was really lovely. The only downside was that the water had a bad smell and the AC unit made a loud intermittent buzz that was a bit hard to sleep through...but it is a medieval village after all, so there's that to take into consideration. Apricale (the village) is just incredible! I've been traveling for a month now, and been to five other countries, and this was one of my favorite sopts of the whole trip so far!

We stayed for 2 nights with 3 people at this hotel. The breakfast was meager, and we were disappointed by the lack of variety. Getting to our room was quite a challenge, as the paved paths and narrow, steep streets of the old town made it very confusing to navigate. Sadly, the reception didn't offer much help either, providing only a confusing treasure map for guidance. The shower didn't work as intended, and the room's ceiling height was only about 160cm, making it uncomfortably warm inside. The kitchen had plates and glasses, but surprisingly, no pots or pans were provided. On a positive note, the view from the room was fantastic, and the ambiance at the old town square was enjoyable. We discovered that parking was nearly impossible, as we had to park about 1 km away along the mountain road from the hotel. However, the most distressing part of our stay was the shocking revelation upon departure that there was a hidden surveillance camera in the room, pointed at the bed, and it was turned on throughout our entire stay. This invasion of privacy is completely unacceptable and leaves us feeling violated. Apricale is a unique experience that we've had, but it's not a place we would want to visit again. The beauty of the surroundings and the pleasant a**osphere at the old town square were overshadowed by the discomforts, lack of amenities, and most importantly, the breach of privacy. For these reasons, we cannot recommend this hotel for future travelers.

The people working are extremely nice and helpful. The property is a unique experience but a bit out of the way. Overall great experience.

It was fine but a little disappointing. The bathroom needed an upgrade. Also, be aware that you will need to carry your suitcase for about 200 meters on cobblestone.The village itself was really beautiful.

The rooms are very high in humidity. Some rooms are without any window, while others have tiny windows. On the photo is very nice window look, but we didn`t had it. Quite shocked.

Throwing you back 100 of years, getting the feeling of a time long ago….

If you're looking for something out of the box, don't hesitate to visit Apricale and choose Muntaecara. The hosts are friendly and very helpful. You will stay at one of their many stone-walled medieval 1000-year-old houses tightly packed on top of a really high hill so be ready to leave your car outside the city walls and to walk up and downhill a bit. Don't expect all the comfort of a modern hotel. The unique experience will be your reward. And don't forgrt to drop by the Mare e Monti restaurant to try one of their exquisite mashroom pastas or pizzas.

Very kice old village, extraordinary hotel as thew

Very characterful rooms and very pretty village. Parking OK ( not hotel owned ) but you really must be mobile to stay here. All the rooms are only accessible by walking and that is up and down steep cobbled streets and paths. This does add to the charm and also of course makes it peaceful. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel, but would suggest, if there is any mobility problem ( even just a bit unsteady on your feet ) check which room would be suitable. We had the lovely owl suite, but there were 4 very steep steps up to the "front door" and then very steep stairs in the suite between the different levels. This did make for great character but do check if a particular room is OK for you.
