Our church's marriage retreat dinner was held at the restaurant at the Greystone in the Lovelace Room. It was phenomenal! The chef was so kind in accommodating our picky eaters with his culinary creations. When all 34 attendees come up to you and rave about the food and location, you know if was a complete success! Kristen Waitschies, the catering and event manager, was so kind to work with and made sure our event was a success. The night was perfection! Can't wait to go back and stay at the Greystone!

The site was picturesque despite being on the "off" season. Our rooms were not in the Inn but in the Hillmont building with lakefront views. Our room was very dated with stained carpeting, sloped floors, a French door to the covered patio that wouldn't lock because the door had settled so much that there was a 1" gap at the top left corner of the door. Worst of all, there were bugs in the room every day! I brought this to the attention of the Inn staff on two occasions (two different staff members) and they were seemingly completely uninterested. We caught the "turn down" crew leaving the room doors open for turn down. We mentioned this to the front desk staff and they didn't seem to care. For anyone with physical challenges, this is NOT the place to stay as the walkways are very uneven and extremely slippery (it was rainy during our stay). The pathway lighting that is clearly visible during daylight hours was not illuminated during the evening/nighttime hours making it very dangerous. Our experience in "the restaurant" was varied. One dinner was very pleasant while another was lackluster with two star food. One breakfast had poor service with a server who didn't know the menu at all while the Sunday brunch featured a server who was excellent. Overall, it was a lackluster experience and I would not recommend this inn to others. It could have been a much more positive visit if the staff actually cared about the guest experience. Bugs in the guest rooms and bathrooms are not OK!

What a quiet slice of heaven and the perfect place to unwind & relax after a hectic weekend. The staff are gracious & welcoming and the property is magical - the mountains overlook the gorgeous lake and every view is a wonderful one. The food is superb, the beds are some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, lots of activities if you feel the need to do something, but curling up in the library with a good book or to play one of the many games they provide is also a delightful way to spend the day! I was transported back to a time & place where true hospitality was an art form and the team at The Greystone Inn still prescribe to the same - truly a spectactular stay and I can't wait to return.

We had a lovely weekend at The Greystone Inn over Labor Day. Paulette and the entire staff - from the front desk, to the spa, to the restaurant and bar - were incredibly welcoming, gracious and accommodating. We were there with our two young children and our dog, which can be a recipe for chaos, but everyone was very kind and always ready with a smile. The property is beautiful, the service impeccable and the experience is one we will always remember. We can’t wait to return!

We went for lunch on a hot August day. Nice breeze off lake Toxaway made it pleasant to eat on the patio. The view was spectacular looking on the lake. We split the burger and it was very good. A bit of a drive, but very pretty countryside, to get there but definitely worth the trip

We loved every minute and didn’t want to leave! It was such a peaceful, beautiful and perfectly secluded hotel. We enjoyed the lake on our Ms. Lucy cruise, and had an amazing picnic breakfast outside our room on the lawn. We also spent an evening stargazing. Everything was wonderful!

Went several times in July with friends, family and as a couple. Food was alwyas excellent, views spectacular and service in the restaurant excellent. Service in the Greystone Inn bar is not great. Go early, get a drink and sit outside in the adorondike chairs to enjoy to lake and mountain scenery.

At one time in the past The Greystone Inn was truly a 4 to 5 star facility. Despite the high price I would suggest it is rated a 3 at best. Upon arrival one is greeted with pot holes and a rutted driveway/parking area. We had one of the suites (209) and the sitting room windows were filthy. With the many steps one must traverse it seems bell hop services would be in order to help guest to gain access to second floor rooms (especially for the more elderly guest).

We were here for 3 days, had 2 rooms in the Hillmont, right on the water with a deck to sit and just enjoy the beauty of it all. The rooms were exceptional, beds sooo comfortable....we had turndown service only for 1 night, not sure what happened to the other nights. But that being said...they came and "turned down" our room at 5 in the afternoon, we came back from dinner and our room was dark, curtains closed...we opened everything back up in order to enjoy 3 more hours of daylight and the views. They need to push back that service particularly since it does not get dark until 8:30-9:00. Our dining experience was ok, a little expensive.....and really the only restaurant (other than the golf clubhouse) so unless one wants to drive windy roads to find another place, you eat here! And the very windy roads with limited signage, even our GPS had trouble, is a detriment to finding Graystone. Over all it is a beautiful place, expensive, sports, boating, fishing, tennis, golf all additional which can add up quickly.
