Cedar Creek Lodges

Tamborine|5.54km from downtown
We had a fabulous holiday at Cedar Creek Lodges. From the moment we booked until checkout the service was fantastic. The resort is a combination of a adventure park plus place to stay with everything from tent pitches to luxury lodges so it's an interesting mix of luxury and roughing it! We were lucky enough to be put in a glamping tent with its own hot tub which really was so deep and large it really was more like having our own hot pool! The tent had everything you could wish for from king bed to TV to amazing outdoor shower and bathroom. The whole outdoor area was fabulous with table and chairs, pool and bbq area. The only improvement I could suggest is to have some way to get to this area without having to go through the tent. We were there with a group who in order to visit us had to walk through our bedroom each time! We didn't see any of the other accommodation inside but our friends were in a lodge which they also said was great. The communal area of the lodges has a kiosk which serves everything from coffee to ice cream to burgers and pizza and a restaurant that serves what looked like a fabulous breakfast (we at at our tent) and serves dinner. We at dinner here together and had a lovely evening in a beautiful setting and really were blown away by the standard of food. There is also a bar and pool table area which our kids enjoyed. Then there is the park itself which is a separate business but is intertwined with the lodges. You can choose to do zip lining, treetop adventures, mining, panning and crazy golf. We did it all and our kids LOVED it! The thing to be aware of is if you have to book the zip line and treetop adventure in advance. Also beware the treetop adventure is quite scary for wimps like me. I had no idea! Mt Tambourine itself is a beautiful area and if I'd known I would have allowed more time to explore the area. There are lots of good places to eat (although a lot close in the evenings), some great cafes and tea houses and lots of quirky shops. You can also go wine tasting in the area. All in all this was a fabulous trip for a group with kids, can highly recommend.

Pethers Rainforest Retreat

We booked her for our wedding accomodation but did not get married on site ( thank goodness ). Completely misses the mark of luxury accomodation. We paid for the Romance package - wine was simply in the fridge - had to hunt around when we couldn’t find it ( we had to ask for a chilled bucket ). We were asked on check in if we’d like anything done for when we get back from our wedding in our room - rose petals , spa run, candles lit - we answered yes - and then paid $100 for the privilege. We asked if breakfast ( included ) could be made up and bought to our room the first morning ( 100m walk ) as my husband was getting ready on his own and would be really rushed that morning ( mid morning wedding )- answer no. Could we order ahead and he come pick it up as soon as you start breakfast? Answer no. Apparently you need to be present in the dining room to get breakfast. So far, not a great first impression. We later found our from others that breakfast is terrible so glad we decided not to bother.Thankfully the room is amazing - high ceilings, beautiful view into rainforest, nice bed, nice tv, fake but nice fireplace and spa. Missing that luxury feel with cheap soaps and toiletries and no room service or room attendance for the duration of your stay. First night we walk to lobby just after 5pm to ask if we can have a drink in the lobby bar - to be told the person with the RSA has gone home for the day. I have stayed at cheaper , better accomodation on the mountain and regret booking this for such a special occasion. I feel like management has changed or this place has been sold, as you could feel the cost cutting at every corner. We currently are in our destination honeymoon hotel and walked into a bottle of wine , chocolates, bath bombs, rose petals and card from staff - not expected but highlights the extreme differences in service and guest relations. There are zero amenities at Pethers- and the staff we met don’t seem to love it there either. Read the latest review and stay anywhere else.
