This was a one night stay as we were away for a weekend and thought the town of Sluis was worth a visit, managed to check in early, as it should have been 3pm, room was ok, although had to leave as many windows open as we could, aircon didnt seem to be working, breakfast although continental was more than we had expected, had a drink from the bar the 1st night, bar staff were friendly and service was swift, thank you guys.

Parts of the building needed work. Paper coming off walls, carpet not put down properly. Floors not level.
I liked the breakfast and especially the dining room.
When I checked in I was told it was all paid up except for a tourist fee. I paid that then. On checkout the woman was very nervous and appeared incompetent. . . She said it had to pay again. I told her I would not pay for the same room twice. But I will pay if it turns out that I haven't. So please let me know.

The staff tried to speak french, that's always appreciated. We got a luxury room with a balcony, just like that. We have been here serveral times, years ago. They really made an effort to upgrade and modernise this hotel. There is a good Wifi connection in the rooms, the tv is modernised and bigger. The windows have changed. I regret there is no shower, only a bath with shower, and that is sometimes difficult to get in or out without help. The big breakfast room is nice, there is never a crowd. Everything is reassorted in time. Now we will surely come back.

We come here twice a year, and have done for 10 years. Why? It has everything we require. Beds are comfy, rooms are extremely clean and the area has lots to see/visit. It is ideal for a trip to the coast, and the "Kusttram" in Belgium (from Knokke) is just 10 minutes away. A day ticket is around €7.00 and is good value. Equally, the Westerschelde ferry from Breskens to Vlissingen is worth doing, and the drive there takes about 20 minutes. 42 bus from Sluis will take you there as well, but it takes around 45/50 minutes. Sluis town centre is just 5 minutes walk and is lovely. Good shops, a fantastic bakery and lots of good restaurants - if you don't want to eat at the hotel. As others have said, De Dikke Van Dale is quite old, but that should not and does not detract from its comfort.

We booked a two night stay in June 2021. Our reservation was for the "De Luxe" room!! What a disapointment. On arival we were met by VERY helpful staff. The receptionist was extremely friendly and helpful, booking was not a problem. We went to the room on the first floor. Outside was the temperature around the 25c inside the room it was around 30c, no airco! only a little fan!? If this was the De Lux room I do n ot want to see the Standard rooms!! Breakfast was a joke, yes the buffet did look good but........... The scrambled egg and bacon was cold. After mentioning this to the staff I was greated with the reply "we cannot do anything about it". Thanks. The second day was the situation in the room and at breakfast not much better. Absolutely disapointing there are no other words.

The hotel is beautiful but lacks maintenance. First of all, we couldn't open our bedroom door. No longer having a triple room, they offered us a double room. So we had to sleep 3 in a bed of 2. Then the wallpaper came off the walls and there was a hole in the armchair in our room. And finally I find that the breakfast buffet is meager. Not many choices. In short, we were disappointed. We won't be going back.

Een paar jaar geleden geweest en goed bevallen, daarom nu terug. Vriendelijk personeel, snelle incheck. Toen naar de kamer. Poeh dat is verouderd, maar okee. Het onderhoud van het geheel is erg slecht, zie foto’s. Op veel plekken verrot hout, matige schoonmaak, vieze afzuiging, kapotte lamp aan buitengevel vervangen door tape, verzakte neon-reclame. Ontbijtbuffet was best okee maar beperkte keuze, routing zeer onlogisch, verouderde eetzaal met overprikkelend drukke vloerbedekking, grote afbeeldingen van speelkaarten aan de wanden en op spiegels. Helaas vergane glorie en voor ons de laatste keer in dit hotel.

Wij hebben via Social Deal dit verblijf geboekt voor één nacht. Leuke locatie maar het hotel is zeker geen 4-sterren waardig. Het Fletcher menu is geen aanrader, wij hebben al betere burgers gegeten. Personeel daarentegen was vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De kamer was verouderd en hebben niet zo goed geslapen. Het ****** is het hotel was wel een leuke meerwaarde en de bar in het hotel ook. Wij hebben een leuk weekend gehad in Sluis maar het hotel gaan we niet meer boeken.
