I feel that this is a very fair and balanced view of the week we have just spent at the NAU palm village hotel. I have rated a 3 but do believe this is at the higher end, teetering on a 4. The good- - there are a lot of sun beds and space for sunbathing, there’s never a grab for a sunbed and plenty enough pools to choose from. The pool areas are kept tidy and clean. -the rooms are cleaned well, they are very spacious, we were upgraded to a suite which was lovely, there was so much room and storage space and this seemed to be a theme for most people we spoke for. They were cleaned and beds made to a lovely standard every day. - the reception staff are helpful and courteous, the majority of other staff are too. - the breakfast was nice with different options, there was always plenty of everything. - the train taking people to the beach was a lovely additional touch and the beach is stunning! Well worth a visit. -the location is close to the Zoomarine park and Albufeira for lovely days out. -there is a good drinks choice. -there is a choice between 3 restaurants which is a nice touch. The bad- Unfortunately these points are what brings the rating of my review down so much because these 4 main points did cause issues for our holiday however can’t completely take away from the beauty of Portugal and stunning weather we had. - booking of meals. I have never had to for an all inclusive book for my meals, whilst dinner (and at a push) lunch were no issue for us, breakfast certainly was and by day 5, with a tired 5 year old, I was fed up of having to set an alarm and wake her up, this is not what a holiday is about and did frustrate me greatly, the hotel needs to come up with a better system then forcing people to prebook at least 4 hours in advance. Everybody we spoke to said that they hated this and I agree. - communal toilets! They are significantly lacking, for the amount of guests there are only 2 toilets (one inside one restaurant and one next to the back of the kitchen) for people using the main pool, bar, restaurant area and kids area. This meant that there were often queues, they were dirty and run down, ran out of toilet paper and the toilet seats all broken. The toilet situation drove me crazy every day. -queues for things, the reception is horrendous. At checking in time and waiting to get a room key, the check in process took far too long. We went back at 4 pm to get our room key and were originally told our room still wasn’t ready, until we pushed them and were then given our key when they initially denied our room existed. The check in process was just torture and we were told to leave out bags in an unlocked overcrowded room in a garage with the door left wide open. Queues at the bar were not better either. In the evening the bar near the pool shuts so if you are at the kids club, good luck getting a drink from anywhere other than walking into the restaurant to get one. The worst- Do not go here if you are reliant on a good kid
