Saracen Sands Hotel & Congress Centre - Palermo

The nicest hotel! Great staff - many with good English. Great facilities, great surroundings, fantastically clean and relaxed. A 4* hotel with 5* performance. It’s near the airport, so avoids long transfers and the railway is a short walk to get into central Palermo.

Loved the sound of the hotel on love holidays app,excursions , four pools, entertainment etc… none of those things were in operation. Was told it was off season, said nothing on their website or love holidays. This hotel is the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed in. You can hear every sound in corridor, rooms below and over your rooms. There was also school tours every night running around till all hours. Got no sleep for the whole week. The staff are lovely and very friendly but at lunch on my last day ( checked out two days earlier because I couldn’t take anymore) I asked for a salad! Was handed a bowl of chopped iceberg lettuce. I thought this must be a joke, oh no, they were deadly serious. It turns out you have to request tomatoes, cucumber etc… when I asked was there more coming like tomatoes the waiter got really rude and aggressive and said that’s I asked at this stage I was sick of the hotel and just wanted out of there. As I checked out I was happy to return home but on the plane I started to feel sick as sooon as I got in my house I was violently sick for two whole days. Don’t know what they did to the salad but that’s the last thing I ate before boarding the plane. Awful, awful experience. Would never recommend anyone stay here!! Hotel took no responsibility for any of it and said I could prove it was food poisoning even though I provided them with a doctors cert saying so!! Disgusting behaviour from them

Our first day started with delay as Hotel administration didn’t send correct phone number to the driver for our pick up from airport. As the driver explained and showed us later, the hotel didn’t even bothered to reply to his messages. When we came to hotel almost 2hrs later, reception staff was extremely rude, we felt like we are not good enough to stay there As most of their visitors were business people doing conferences in their hotel. And even when mentioned about delay of pick up from airport, they didn’t seemed bothered at all. After we checked in, no-one didn’t gave any map or information about hotel, didn’t have a proper instructions where everything is and what is included. We needed to look and research everything ourselves. Room was nice and clean, beautiful sea view. There are 4pools, two adult two kids, the main pool is nice and spacious, other one needs a good clean or at least filtration to keep it fresh. Hotel from inside was nice and modern, breakfast and dinner served with fairly decent meals. Hotel grounds were nice. Although the hotel from outside looks like in need of massive renovations we enjoyed the views and pool area. Massive gorgeous mountains around. If you forgot pool/beach towels, you can BUY them from reception for €2.50 and you dont need to give them back. Pool bars and lobby bars were struggling with cocktails as all the time they either don’t have something or they don’t do them even though there is list of the drinks and it’s marked in there and it is quite pricey. Overall, we had pretty nice break from day to day basis, but hotel staff need a massive customer service training and renovation of outside.

Amazing staff very clean hotel. food was also fantastic Staff so friendly and helpful highly recommend. can't say enough good things about the bar staff, reception staff and waiting staff. Would recommend renting a car to go see other parts of the island. San vito lo capo was fantastic and mondello beach A visit to palermo is essential also

We chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and we were arriving late. The staff are pleasant friendly and speak good English. Our room was basic and bare although clean. The balcony looked very shabby however, as did the grounds. (In saying this I accept it was off season, however they appeared to have been neglected for some time). The food was ‘cheap and cheerful’, the breakfast pretty uninspiring. The hotel was fairly quiet with what appeared to be a couple of large parties in, probably for a conference. In short, if you are looking for somewhere to stay close to the airport for a night it probably just about passes muster. Otherwise I would avoid.

Our room was very spacious and the bathroom was clean and pleasant. Most of the staff were friendly and the women on the reception desk were extremely helpful and painstaking. The breakfast was disappointing - unappetising cooked food and tired-looking cold meats, cheese and peppers/olives, etc, and far too much in the way of cake and biscuits. We took dinner one evening, which was also rather a disappointment - the pasta dish was not hot enough, the green beans cooked far too much, and soggy patates al forno, for example. The location (Capaci/Isola delle Femmine) itself is not particularly attractive, since it is near an industrial estate, although the private beach seems quite pleasant. The outdoor swimming-pools are unheated and many of the sunloungers need replacing.

It is what it says it is - a conference hotel. We stayed there one night because it is convenient (10 min drive) to Palermo airport but it was completely rammed with conference goers. The hotel reception and service staff simply could not cope with the volume. Bedroom was an odd layout and very plasticky but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. Located next to a nice looking beach but we felt this was more a transitory stop than a longer term destination. Couple of nice restaurants nearby.
