Lotte Hotel Seoul Executive Tower

City Hall/Myeong-Dong Seoul|1.26km from Jongno Jewelry Town
Stayed at the Lotte Executive Tower just after the holidays, in a Premier Double Room. Pros: - The entrance of the Executive Tower is absolutely beautiful. Same with the Main Tower. Elegant, refined, beautiful art work. The executive tower check-in desks are on the 15th floor. - Easy access by escalator directly into the Lotte Department Store (from where the escalator takes you to, hang a right to get to the famous food hall!) - Location can’t be beat. Directly across from Eujiro Station (1) and around the corner from Myeong-Dong Walking Street / Night Market and several 7-11s (which are almost as good as the 7-11s in Japan). - Our room was beautiful, spacious, thoughtfully designed and decorated. Very modern touches and upscale finishes. A chandelier in the bathroom?? - Immaculate housekeeping. - Excellent temperature and very strong water pressure in the shower! - Appreciate the 2 complimentary bottles of Evian every day. - Fast wifi speeds. Cons: - Love the Diptyque toiletries but wish they weren’t the communal / shared bottles. There were bits of dried lotion crusted on the pump from the previous occupant. - Weird that neither lobby had a single chair to sit on. What’s up with that? Comes off a bit inhospitable. This isn’t the type of place to attract non-guests / loiterers. A bench wouldn’t kill anyone! - For a 5* hotel and the price we’re paying, it’s disappointing that there is a surcharge should you need a toothbrush, toothpaste or use of the sauna (!!). They claim the charge for toothbrush and paste is to prevent wastage but surely you could just have these small items available upon request at the front desk? - The doormen’s manners range from formal and friendly (some) to indifferent (most) to downright hostile (many), especially if you are not a Korean speaker, as many don’t speak English. I’m not arrogant enough to think they should speak English in a non-English speaking country, but a smile is universal, you know? Would likely stay here again at the right price and given the location.

Hotel Skypark Central Myeongdong

City Hall/Myeong-Dong Seoul|1.03km from Jongno Jewelry Town
Right where all the action of Myeong-dong street market is! Staff were helpful. Able to store luggage at the lobby before check-in and after check out. Toilets are equipped with smart bidet (yay! with seat warmer!!!! so nice in cold weather). Room is clean, though looked a lil rundown, but still acceptable, given that we were mostly out. Halal food available at the street market too (The halal lamb skewer was the best I've had)! The strawberries, grapes that tasted like sweet jellly, (its a no wonder SG markets sells them soo expensive!) On weekdays, street market starts at 5pm, on weekend, it starts by afternoon. Apart from street markets, Lotte store is within walking distance for those who wishes to spend on the higher end products. Not to forget, Olive Young is all the rage there, especially during their sale for that Korean glass skincare! Managed to snag some Kpop items for kids back home. The light sticks were way cheaper than in Singapore, and there were so many merch and photocards available. Even the lomo cards are nice! The airport transfer bus is within walking distance from the hotel. The bus will stop at a few hotels within the area to pick up passengers heading along the way or towards airport. We took the airport transfer bus on a weekend to Incheon Airport Terminal 1. It cost 17000 won/per pax. Journey took nearly 2hrs, considering the weekend traffic at noon. Can't wait to visit again!

Hostel Tommy

I stayed at Hostel Tommy for 3 weeks. At first, my plan was to spend each week at a different place whether it was a hostel, hotel or AirB&B. However, after my first week at Hostel Tommy, there was no need for me to go anywhere else. I give Hostel Tommy 5 starts for the following reason: 1) proximity to everything. Any subway or bus that you need to go anywhere is within a 5-10 minute walking distance. I never took a taxi anywhere; and believe me, I went all over Seoul. 2) Convenience: there's a 24-hour 7-Eleven literally right next door, so anything that I needed (snacks) was just next door. 3) Lodging: the room are spacious, super clean, the beds are comfortable. The common areas were also clean and inviting. 4)Reception: Tommy and his staff are the BEST. They will help you with anything you need. I had a great time in Seoul because I never had to worry about anything regarding my stay. From now on, I will ALWAYS stay at Hostel Tommy every time I visit Seoul.

Check-out time is 14 o'clock even if it is written as 17 o'clock. Just warm water comes out at a free price for one night and is satisfied.

This trip to Korea happened unexpectedly. I booked a room temporarily, but I booked two beds online. Why did the hotel only give me a large bed? It was very uncomfortable to sleep on. I hope it can be improved. Everything else is pretty good and the location is great. Transportation, shopping, and food are all very convenient

In the alleys, those who have not been there are not so easy to find. The room is very big, the bathroom is very big, the owner is Chinese, communication is convenient, the surrounding is an izakaya, it is a bit noisy at night, and there is a lot of food nearby. There is no elevator to go upstairs. It is the biggest one I have ever stayed in. Very clean, which is really good.

The Location was really nice, 5 min walk to the subway station and there were lots of food in and around the area. The only thing about the location is that walking at night it’s kinda sketchy, but generally alright if you don’t linger. Service was great for the price. When I checked out, the person manning the service depar**ent that day helped me carry my luggage down and also gave me a free drink. They gave me an extra blanket when I asked for it and were generally really nice and helpful. They have free wifi, free water and free paper cups and coffee bags. They also have free drinks in the fridge as well, though I didn’t drink any. They have a hair dryer in the room, a water boiler, shampoo and soap as well as face cream and vanity mirror for the room I stayed in. Generally pretty good. The only complaint would be that they don’t have an elevator, which I didn’t mind because I only had a hand carry and a back pack, but for those that are coming with heavier luggage, you will need to lug it up the stairs. Not exactly the cleanest of places, but it was clean enough. The furnitures aren’t new but they are clean and usable. The floor is clean. The bathroom however does have stains and isn’t exactly pleasant but for the price you pay, decent and usable. Generally speaking, a great place to stay for the price. Not the best quality, but over my expectations and definitely alright if you’re just looking for a place to clean up and sleep. I’d definitely book it again for a short get away.
