"On The Point was possibly the nicest place we have ever stayed! The staff was lovely, the food excellent, and the accommodations superb! Our room had an unobstructed view of Lake Rotorua from its broad porch. The view came with sheep, one of which would raise itself on it’s hind legs to receive pieces of apple and carrot, supplied by the kitchen. In addition to the hot tub our rooms I were like a small home. There were a fully equipped kitchen , a gas fireplace, large living room, and bedroom and well thought out bathroom. My wife said “I am never leaving!“"

The proprietors, Wayne and Ingrid (who have owned it for about 20 years), were personally attentive the entire visit, including greeting us on arrival and walking out to see us off on departure. The setting and the view from our room was spectacular. Our room was extremely nice, and the food and service were great."

"I had the most horrid experience at Treetops Lodge & Estate, which I expected to be a luxurious retreat given the $2,500 USD per night price tag. Unfortunately, the reality was far from it. First, the property is extremely remote—30 minutes away from everything—and requires navigating a poorly lit, dingy 4 km road from the highway. Upon check-in, the staff seemed sparse. A single lady assisted us but failed to provide the gate code, even though she knew we would return after dinner. When we arrived back at 11 PM, we were locked out of the property with no staff present to buzz us in. We waited outside in the dark for over an hour, making 30 missed calls and leaving 14 voice notes—none of which were answered. Ultimately, we were forced to stay the night at the Pullman hotel instead. What’s worse, there was no apology or acknowledgment of their negligence. The property itself is old, run-down, and does not justify the exorbitant price. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are far better options in Rotorua at a fraction of the cost. Save your money and avoid Treetops at all costs!"

"A bit outside of Rotorua with nothing but a small convenience store nearby is what made me rate the place as only a 3 out of 5. No ATM or restaurants nearby makes it a bit of a hassle. If you don't mind taking the car its just a few minutes to the city and it's close enough to the tourist attractions. Rooms are clean and so are all the towels and sheets. Staff was helpful when asked upon. The place has a bar, restaurant, sauna, pool and gym so everything one might want."

"This is a large hotel that attracts many tour groups. There's a famous Chinese restaurant nearby with delicious seafood and fried rice. The hotel and rooms have a strong sulfur smell, probably because it's located in a hot spring area. However, I must mention that the heater in my room wasn't working. It seemed like the heaters on the entire floor were broken. The staff came up twice to try and fix it but couldn't. In the end, I had to borrow a portable heater from the hotel to get through the night."

Stepping out of our room, we were greeted by a large lawn where four gentle alpacas and a little lamb roamed leisurely. Our kids spent the entire afternoon feeding the animals – it was incredibly therapeutic! Waking up, we could open the window and watch alpacas grazing. In the evening, sitting on the patio as the sunset painted the grass was an absolutely unique and magical atmosphere. 2. **Private Cabins with All the Comforts:** All units are standalone cabins, each with its own private entrance and yard. There's a dedicated free parking spot right at the door, making luggage handling and parking super convenient. The rooms were spotless and brand new, equipped with AC, heating, high-speed Wi-Fi, and a smart TV. Each unit also boasts a full kitchen with all the pots, pans, and utensils you could need, so buying groceries and cooking your own meals is a breeze. Perfect for both short and long stays. The bedding was soft, and the double-glazed windows provided excellent sound insulation – at night, all we heard were birds and the wind, ensuring a wonderfully peaceful sleep. 3. **Kid-Friendly & Stress-Free for Parents:** The property features a huge outdoor play area with a trampoline, swings, and a sandpit slide, allowing kids to burn off energy while parents can relax on the patio. The host is Chinese, so communication in Mandarin was seamless. They were incredibly helpful with small things like needing a travel adapter or extra daily essentials, paying attention to every detail. 4. **Perfect Location: Secluded Yet Convenient:** Just a 6-minute drive from the city center, it's quiet and peaceful without the city noise. Yet, it's incredibly close to all the main attractions: Skyline Gondola, Te Puia Māori Village, ZORB, and Agrodome Farm are all within a 1-3 minute drive. No need to rush in the mornings to get to your activities, perfectly balancing tranquility with travel convenience."

"I stayed here for 2 nights with my parents as a family of 5. There is a Wooli (mart) in front of the accommodation, and there are many restaurants such as McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Wendy's, so it was convenient. I recommend staying here when traveling around Rotorua. (The facilities were clean and nice.) The only downside is that you can only use the stairs to go up to the 2nd floor, so I recommend it for everything except carrying your carrier."
