After driving from the Vendee and catching the latw ferry over choppy seas we stopped at this Travelodge. Veey good value for money. It cost £29. It was clean, the staff were friendly, the bed comfortable. There was a bqth and the usual teamaking facilities. We had been travelling around France with a few stays in this type of accommodation, but this Travelodge was better. Of course it is not a 5 star hotel. That is not its purpose, but we will stay again.

Had a lovely 3 night stay at this lovely inn, would have had four but was fully booked! Was my belated birthday present, though dad said it was for mummy’s birthday! Very welcoming team with a lovely room decorated in a tasteful contemporary style and large en-suite. View over the village pond just added to the quintessential country location. I was even given my own special doggy beer and biscuit. Team couldn’t do enough to help and were very attentive to my every whim, including a sausage for breakfast. Breakfast lovely, albeit mum and dad didn’t go for the larger breakfast given the meals the night before were so large (and of equally high standard). Though at first glance the prices could be seen of the expensive side, I will certainly say it represented good value for money. I’m already pestering mum and dad to take us back!

Had a lovely lunch at Donnington Valley Hotel on 14th May. Can highly recommend the Burrata, Plum Tomato Salad, Basil, Breads sharing starter The roast beef was lovely (although my husbands was very fatty, but I think that’s just the luck of the drawer with how the meat is served) there were plenty of fresh seasonal vegetables, that came in a separate bowl and steaming hot which was great. Dessert was amazing, highly recommend the Lemon Tart and raspberry sorbet, it was delicious. Waiting staff were super attentive. Thank you very much.

We have been to this hotel before, but this time we saw a sign saying that swimming will incur £5 pp charge. I was gutted that I was not advised, as the receptionist said this new policy took place 2 weeks ago. BUT, when we went to the pool, the clerk told us that if you booked from a different provider (trip.com etc) you have a complimentary pass to the pool. If only we knew the first day. But really happy overall.

In the heart of Hungerford it was a pleasure to stay at The Three Swans. The staff team were so friendly and helpful. The food from their chefs excellent and reasonably priced. The accommodation very comfortable. Plenty of plug sockets, comfortable bed. Only one very minor suggestions. A light over the dressing table would be helpful. The outdoor space is next to the annex rooms and was a bit noisy until around 11.30pm. Parking is also limited to pay annd display anlthough plenty of on street parking free from 6pm until 8 am. Overall a very pleasant stay.

I cant thank the staff enough for such a fabulous evening last night….From the moment I spoke to Frankie over the phone to book my work event I had every confidence we were going to be well looked after and I wasn’t wrong. A special mention to Abby, Toni Sophea & Libby for looking after us so well and catering for all of our needs, nothing was too much trouble. We had a set menu with 4 choices of starters, mains and desserts and every dish was immaculately presented and tasted amazing so a huge thank you to Luke the chef for delivering such a high standard of food. Everyone that attended the event couldnt speak highly enough of the food, venue, staff and service we received. I have already been asked if we can book our Christmas work event here and its an absolute yes from me if you will have us back? Thanks again everyone! Felicity X

Excellent
GGuest UserI stayed in room No. 5, The Jack of Newbury for 2 nights in December. The night before and night of my wedding. The room is a studio with a gorgeous deep copper bath in the room. The hotel and restaurant/pub itself is stunning. It felt so clean, modern with a country/vintage style decor. It was beautiful. It definitely has been refurbished to a very high standard with a fantastic interior designer. The room felt very luxurious. However, there were a couple of items missing which impacted on my stay and may be why the hotel has not yet reached 5 stars, particularly as I was getting ready for my wedding. I mentioned at the time of booking and before my stay that this was a wedding booking, however there was no full length mirror in the room at all. Luckily the room next door was vacant and the door was open so I was able to pop in and out to check my wedding dress etc. but really, every single room in the hotel should have a full length mirror, that’s just basic really. I did ask reception if they could provide one or help in some way and they said they’d look into it but I never heard back. I was just thankful the room next door was empty otherwise I’d be turning up to my wedding without knowing what I looked like! I was also situated on the highest floor and getting down the very narrow and steep stairs in my dress was a scary challenge!! In the bathroom of my room, there was no towel radiator or toilet roll holder. The thermostat was also tricky to navigate and myself and neighbour on the first night both had to sleep with the windows open as the room was so hot but as I was on a main road the room was extremely loud so my sleep over all was not fantastic but in all fairness to the hotel my nerves and excitement also contributed to the lack of sleep. These are all things which hopefully can be easily rectified to improve stays in the future, The breakfast and dinner at the Hare & Hounds was delicious and all of the waiting staff were so friendly and helpful. Although, worth noting that I did request my breakfast to come without sausages but my plate came out with sausages- although this was not a massive issue to me so I decided not to make a comment on this on the day as not the end of the world but worth making a note of on here. Overall, a gorgeous hotel/pub/restaurant and if these issues were fixed/improved/made good, I would love to return again in the future. The missing details do let the refurbishment down I’m afraid and the mirror did play a big issue in me getting ready so it is only a 3/5 for me on this occasion! :(
Friendly welcome from Chris on check-in, ground floor room opens from a courtyard, noted overflowing ashtray of roll-ups on table outside room door. Room looked OK, warm, clean, and the beds were comfortable. However the bathroom was just plain grubby - shower screen needs some limescale spray and a deep clean round the base, long black hairs (not mine!) in shower tray, splashed and dusty chrome towel rail. Very sensitive shower control took 5+ minutes of constant running before some lukewarm water appeared, although plenty of hot water in basin tap. One decent real ale at bar, average menu and food, fair bar prices. Breakfast, (described as ”continental” on the phone when I booked) took some finding as the pub was locked up and deserted. When we eventually found it (none of this had been explained to us on check-in) it turned out to be a small dresser of help-yourself items in a lobby at the foot of a stair, comprising of a clingfilmed basket of croissants, a bread bin, pots of jam, mini-packs of cereals, milk in a fridge below and - randomly - a toilet roll. I washed a croissant down with a cup of instant coffee made in my room, and left.
YYONGERIn order to take the children to the nearby school for an interview, stayed for one night, so there is not much demand for the hotel. The facilities in the room are general, the beds are put together, not very comfortable, the health is OK, the breakfast is too poor, the overall feeling is not acceptable for the holiday! The decoration at the front desk is ok, warm and elegant!
GGuest UserOK, quite satisfied, the service staff is very friendly, the difference between the standard room and the big bed room is very easy to make mistakes. I must pay attention to it. I made a mistake. The others helped me to change a family room. Fortunately, breakfast. general.
