Changchun, the capital city of Jilin Province in Northeast China, is a vibrant city that has a lot to offer its visitors. This modern city in China, with a long and interesting history, is known for its scenic beauty, industrialization and unique tourist attractions. The city is also a political, economic and cultural hub.
The Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) is located at a distance of 23 km from the city. The airport is well connected to the city by Mass rapid transit (MRT) trains, buses (airport shuttles) and taxis. The journey by road from the city centre takes around 30 minutes. On the MRT, it’s usually a 40-minute ride.
Changchun Longjia International Airport (CGQ) is the international airport serving Changchun. The airport is around 31km from the city. From the airport there are regular buses available to the city centre. You could also take the train from Longjia station to the city as it is also convenient.
There is no direct flight to Changchun from Singapore. China Southern, Air China and Xiamen Airlines are some of the major airlines that ply along that route. Among them, Air China usually provides cheap flights from Singapore.
Singapore Changchun flights usually take 10 hours on average, but this can vary depending on the flight path and layover duration.
Chaoyang is the main city centre and it houses many of the city’s most popular attractions. A wide range of hotels from luxury to affordable are available within Changchun. Luyuan, a district in Changchun, is another area well-populated with a wide range of local restaurants. Kuancheng is a busy urban area that is suitable for accommodation and sightseeing.
People’s Square, Hongqi Street, Guilin Road and Renmin Plaza are bustling commercial areas in Changchun. Moreover, there are many large malls in the city such as Changchun Department Store, Changbaishan Shopping Center and Charter Shopping Center.
In terms of food, look out for Changchun's famous flatbreads, commonly available in the street-side eateries. You can also try out the authentic Chinese cuisine at one of the many restaurants in the city centre.
The Puppet Emperor's Palace is a must-see for history lovers. Another popular attraction is the World Sculpture Park. The large park features sculptures from 270 international artists. Yulong Hot Spring Resort is an ideal spot for relaxation. Nanhu Park is a lakeside park that is lively with boating and water sports during summers. It is converted to a natural skating rink during winter months.
