As can be seen by the other reviews this hotel was such a disappointment. Definitely 1 star not 4. Gardens not maintained, pool not maintained we would not have gone in. Luckily the beaches are so nice. Same as the other review we didn’t have hot water & were told to run it for 20 minutes, after that it was mildly lukewarm & such a waste of water. No kettle, or any tea or coffee & like the other reviews said there was no breakfast as staff had left. Staff did a lot of sitting around, but at least the room was cleaned once a day. This was our only bad hotel experience in 5 weeks in Greece.

I always read reviews before booking but this time I didn't. Did I regret it. It had a no cancellation policy. First of all we were greeted at the ferry by a very sour & unfriendly man. Didn't even say hello while he was taking our suitcase. Luckily it had the name of the hotel on the side of the van. When the van arrived at the hotel, they had to put a brick at the back of tyre. I suppose so it won't roll away😬 Got to reception and there was no "welcome" to our hotel. All we were told was we wouldn't be getting breakfast as there is a lack of staff. We would be refunded at the end of our stay. We checked out on the 2nd September and we still haven't received our refund. Our room had rising damp and smelled mouldy, the pool looks inviting in the picture s but it wasn't properly maintained and it has vinyl lining in the pool and vinyl look like tiles around the edge, which goes black with mould. All gardens are full of ****s. This hotel could be beautiful with new owner. It's a very sad hotel. Please don't waste your money, find somewhere else. It's a beautiful island!!

Excellent stay! The room was very spacious and comfortable. It had a nice balcony, which I really enjoyed. The hotel arranged pickup from the port, and they also dropped us off at the port for departure. The hotel was a short walk to several restaurants, cafes, bars, beaches, etc. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again!

This Used to be a lovely friendly hotel when we stayed here four years ago, but now all long serving staff have left. Overall it’s a hotel heading towards a rapid demise, with an owner change being its only hope. We booked two suites at £200 each per night. The biggest problem was the AIR CONDITIONING DIDN,T WORK (switched off?) at night. This was difficult as it was hot and noisy and as a result we had a couple of nights sleep where we only got 4.5 hours of sleep. As a note - Despite there being a control panel for the air conditioning in the room whether the air conditioning is on is controlled centrally. You can tell when the air conditioning is turned off because you can’t select the air conditioning symbol on the control panel, however the air con fan stays on even when the air con stays off so you don’t notice until the the room gets hot . The manager STATHIS AMARANTIDIS (his first year at the hotel) made a number of excuses which kept changing. He also said it was very odd and hadn’t happened before despite other reviews to the contrary. I said that I would not pay the full price and he said he would have to speak to the owner and they came back with a £200 reduction on a £2500 bill. I said that wasn’t enough and he said he wasn’t authorised to offer more. I asked to speak to the owner and this was refused. STATHIS AMARANTIDIS Said if I didn’t pay the balance he would call the police!!!! Which he did. I was amazed his aggressive approach which came from nowhere and the fact he would call the police rather than allow me to engage in a discussion on the phone with the owner. The POLICE were very friendly and said it was not a police matter, my wife was very upset about the fact he called the police, the kids all thought it was quite funny, for me it was just another example of gross incompetence. In the end STATHIS AMARANTIDIS spoken again to the owner and he agreed to increase the reduction to £300 and we had had enough so agreed this. They then asked me to sign a form saying I wouldn’t make a further claim at a later date, really!!! Overall having stayed in hundreds of hotels for both work and holidays I had never seen such incompetence and such aggressive behaviour to customers with a legitimate grievance. Finally there was no breakfast available as the chef had apparently walk out at the beginning of the season! I could go on!! But my advice is even if you have stayed here before. Don’t stay here.

Complete scam! This hotel is one star instead of 4 stars as advertised. Broken windows and damaged furniture, dirty linen and bathroom with very bad smell and cockroaches everywhere. Old and rotten bathroom fixings with old towels. No breakfast option because the chef left them (wonder why?) bad room service.

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. We stayed 5 nights in the wing with the rooms next to the pool. Old infrastructure and poorly maintained. One day we ran out of hot water, they told us to let it run for more than 15 minutes (!) for the hot water to come. We left it in all the rooms for half an hour or more but of course no hot water ever came because the boiler was broken and they fixed it the next day. Especially if you have children it's a serious problem because the water is freezing and you can't even wash yourself off. I saw a review from a customer 3 weeks before our stay that they also had an issue with the hot water! When they water the grass at 9-10 in the morning in our room, there was no water pressure nor the cistern to fill. Also, the drain smelled. No value for money. Friends of ours who chose to stay in other rooms encountered no problems while also paying less money. Finally at the pool bar they only took cash, they wouldn't accept a card or charge it to the room!

Cleaning services in the room were terrible. No change of bed sheets for 4 days, no vacuuming or mapping at the floor. They even left us without toilet paper. Stuff was rood. The breakfast had a variety but of really low quality. Hair dryer at the room didn't work and the fridge didn't work as well. Totally not a 4 star hotel and it definetly didn't worth the money we spent. Only good thing the location and the common external space

I am currently staying at Koufonisia Hotel with my family. I was sceptical reading the reviews previously but as soon as I arrived my mind was put at rest. I am a travel agent and have travelled to many many places, I have to say I think some of the reviews are very unfair and picky. Koufonisia is a typically Unspoilt Greek island and the hotel reflects this. Maybe it’s not up to 4 star standard but but for a Greek island it’s very good ( believe me I have worked and visited many) The brekkie is basic but the restaurant/ pool/ bar staff are absolutely the most loveliest people. So friendly and willing to help in anyway. The room is lovely, we have a suite and it’s spotless and is cleaned amazingly with fresh towels everyday ( as you would normally get in a 4 star) The pool is amazing and very big! Fab for kids! Sunbeds are comfy, yes they have some stains on them and the odd rip but I put a towel on and got on with it! No biggy!! Koufonisia is such a stunning island and there is so many places to visit. I urge you not to listen to the reviews (some of them really are laughable) and try it for yourself. I did!! Yammas
