DoubleTree by Hilton London Angel Kings Cross

One of my worst hotel experiences in a long time. It’s hard to decide what was worse: the service or the key card system. During a three-night stay, I was locked out of my room no fewer than five times because the key cards repeatedly stopped working. The staff clearly know how unreliable the system is, yet nothing seems to be done about it. On one occasion, reception made me a new key card, which also didn’t work. I ended up walking back and forth to reception three times just to get into my room. The service was equally poor. Nobody answered the room service or reception phones. When I finally reached someone and was promised a toothbrush, it never arrived. There were no slippers in the room, and the corridor smelled so bad it was like walking through a garbage storage area. The hotel itself is old, tired, and in very poor condition. The only real positive was the gym, which is relatively large and has some useful equipment. For around £200 a night, this is simply unacceptable. I will definitely not stay here again. Hilton should be doing much, much better than this. A genuinely pathetic hotel experience.

Excellent stay! The hotel was clean, comfortable, and in a great location. The staff were welcoming and helpful throughout my stay. The room was spacious, and everything was well maintained. I would definitely stay here again when visiting London.
