Check in was painful. Took 45 mins as the one person behind the counter kept stopping and going to help other customers with enquiries. Also, they don't have a card machine/reader to pay the local taxes. No information whatsoever was given to us advising of dining times and where the restaurant and bars were and entertainment. Like another review, only found out about the indoor pool on the last day! The hotel itself is extremely basic and run down. Threadbare carpets on the landings, taps missing in some of the toilets, half the outside was closed off including the main big pool and outside bar area (love holidays didn't advise of this). Consequently, everyone had to go around one pool and there were nowhere near enough sunbeds even at this time of year (beginning of the season). Naturally, the mad towel dash was made most mornings. A lot of the corridors stank of ammonia/sewage as well. When around the pool and trying to relax, there was a constant scraping noise as they had scaffolding up and guys scraping off last year's blistered paint on the back of the hotel and balconies. Felt like you were being spied on. Staff were mostly friendly, animation team were engaging and did not pressure you in to doing anything. Aqua aerobics was quite good fun. Evening entertainment was dire. A very slow/boring magic show (mostly for kids) or karaoke. This was all held in a basement like room with no windows, air conditioning or bar - yes, there is NO bar in the entertainment room so you have to go out in to the lobby area and get drinks from the one bar in the whole hotel. Bar staff were ok, Mongi - who was always around the outside seating area is very funny and will have a laugh with you. Drinks are extremely basic...beer is good but it's made with local water so be warned. Only 3 cocktails on offer on all inclusive. None of the drinks were nice really so stuck to sprite/cola. Bottled water available at bar from 10am only and restaurant at lunch time and evening only. At breakfast they have a water cooler to use and they don't like to hand out bottled water if you ask for it. Restaurant is ok, drinks can be hard work...you have to ask a waiter to get you some.or go to the bar yourself (there is a little one in the restaurant only manned at lunch/dinner). Coffee was absolutely disgusting... extremely bitter. Hot chocolate wasn't great either. Food was extremely repetitive. The same dishes were there more or less every day. Breakfast is the worst meal of the day. It was so hard to find something that wasn't bread or eggs. The beans are curried, the sausages/onion medley they have tasted funny and the cereal extremely bland and cardboard like. One toasting machine which was hit and miss if it was working or not. There are omelettes and pancakes made at one station, while the omelette is made to order and the pancakes are just churned out and left in a tin getting cold for people to help themselves. Lunch and dinner are pretty much the same stuff each day.
