We enjoyed an overnight stay at The Ship Inn and it was fabulous - the glorious Spring sunshine played its part, but in terms of warmth even it played second fiddle to Lizzie and the rest of the staff. Our room (The Captain Bligh) was excellent; suitably nautically decorated, bright and cosy, with amazing views over the beach. Service at dinner was very attentive and there was a terrific a**osphere in the busy restaurant with families, groups of friends, locals and visitors underlining its popularity. Good menu, fairly priced and a decent wine list too. Downstairs, the bar staff never kept you waiting more than a couple of minutes for a drink and there was a good selection of draft beers, including a couple of local brews. The perfect overnight stay - we also booked the Elie sauna on the beach and enjoyed a cold water dip in the sea and it's also highly recommended. This corner of Scotland rarely disappoints. This was our first visit to The Ship Inn, but it won't be our last.
