Holiday Inn Express Leeds City Centre - Armouries

I feel bad knocking the hotel. It's in a great location with parking for just £8 a night next door. Ideal for the Armories (free entrance) and a surprisingly cheap £1 river taxi to the city centre. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, in fact the Indian gentleman on check in was probably the best check in experience I've ever had. All the other staff were pleasant. The room was big and comfortable. Now the gripe. Breakfast was an absolute nightmare. The queues were mainly caused however because there was only one toaster and this was set in a way that people had to put their bread in twice to get it toasted. Then there was the wait for bacon and sausages to be refilled ( not a short wait, a good 10 minutes). We recently stayed at a sister hotel in Crewe and their toaster was of a different model that was an industrial 4 slice one making 4 slices very quickly. Mind you they also had cheese on offer which would have also got people away from the queues. Even a few bread rolls which wouldn't need toasting would also alleviate queues to some extent. The last problem was a lack of plates. Would we stay again, yes. Though we would make sure we didn't wait until 8.30am to get breakfast

The service is good, and the room has been upgraded😇 The room is large and comfortable. Breakfast is average. The main reason is the location, which is really nice. It takes 5 minutes to walk to the train station, and all the delicious food and shopping can be reached on foot. It's so convenient, there is also a famous donut shop just downstairs from the hotel. We found out before we left that it was sold out by 4pm. Saw a lot of people in the lobby looking for this donut shop

The hotel was great and well located to get into the centre of Leeds. Nice views on the canal from the room, the room was spacious with good amenities. We got given breakfast with our booking which was lovely. We also got a free late checkout too.

The room I stayed with my friends is lovely and the staff are extremely helpful and have gone above and beyond. We could ask for any more and this will be the place we will stay in on future trips to Leeds. Thank you to staff for making the experience the best!

I want to say how wonderful my stay was at Holiday Inn. The room was fabulous. Amazing facilities. A shout out to Anthony one of the night staff who had such a welcoming smile at all hours and down to earth attitude. Also to Hannah who was so helpful regarding transport services both should be extremely proud of themselves. Thank you so much

We booked a stay to visit family in the area. No air con in rooms (booking.com seem to confirm it has). Window was very difficult to open and shut though. We had a family room but no room to swing a cat with 3 of us in there and the sofa bed out- so if you want to use the chair or desk, tough! Bathroom was grubby, needs an overhaul, mouldy and cheap plastic toilet seat. Breakfast was hilarious- not. Continental - if you can call it that - was a squashed mini muffin, an apple, orange and a cereal bar. Coffee machine was out of milk so I asked if it could be fixed, and received a response like I’d asked them to give me a limb or something. Also only got breakfast option was a sausage or bacon sandwich. Bacon was all dried up and clearly had been sat there hours. Husbands sandwich was made with the crust of the bread. Absolutely awful, customer service atrocious.
