Amilia Mare Rhodes

We spent 11 nights at the Helea at the end of August, beginning of September and thoroughly enjoyed it. Room was great for a family of 4 with a lovely sea view. His and hers sinks, large wardrobes and big shower, very comfy beds and pillows. Plus amazing black out curtains. Comfy beds for the children as well and TV’s in main section and kids section. Could just do with some more hangers in the wardrobes. They leave a lovely beach bag on your bed when you arrive, which was a really nice touch and handy for carrying towels to the pool/beach each day. Mini bar stocked each day with some soft drinks/fruit juices. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Especially Alessandra at the pool bar who was lovely and always knew what drinks we wanted. Whilst you do have to que, it’s never more than 5 mins and drinks were lovely. The best drinks were at the beach bar though….they were soo good! Pool area was great. Nice big pool with deep and shallow areas, so perfect for kids. They could do with more sun loungers around the pool to eliminate the problem of people not finding a bed, as there is plenty of space for more. However, we always managed to find 4x beds between 8-9am. Waiter service around the pool would also be a great addition. Restaurants were lovely. We ate at both the Italian and Latin American in the evening and enjoyed both, however the Latin American was our favourite - The atmosphere and the service from the staff was fantastic and the food was great too! We had lunch a few times at the Greek which is by the pool, which was really nice, food was great and service was good. You can get gyros/chips/flat breads etc. from the beach bar which was yummy and great that it was open all day, so the kids could get food whenever they wanted. Ice cream also available from the beach bar which was great! The buffet restaurant was great….probably the best food from a buffet at an AI hotel we’ve ever experienced. Food was delicious and there was so much choice! Staff were all friendly and helpful. Entertainment staff were friendly and good with the kids. They enjoyed playing baules, ping pong, darts! However, evening entertainment was basic compared to other hotels we have stayed at and could be improved. Water park was great for kids and adults and great you can get bottles of cold water from the big fridge there! The hotel is stunning visually, nice decor and lovely large lobby area. Lovely views from the hotel and nice beach area with sun loungers and parasols. On a whole, whilst there are a couple of improvements that could be made to really make it amazing, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to a friend and definitely return!

The location is not only marvelous, but also has so many things to experience. Several amazing restaurants, an extraordinarily friendly team, and delicious food. Elizabeth, and all her colleagues made our stay a trip to remember. Also it‘s not only perfect for relaxing, but also for remote working.

If you are looking for a very beautiful picture perfect hotel, with the best service, amazing pool, great food and very nice rooms, this one is for you! Tip: if you can try all the restaurants, so you can choose between different cuisines every day. Just like the perfect interior, also the staff here is really friendly! Especially Elizabeth

The children really enjoyed the playground, the instructor was great, played and exercised the children non-stop, Color, play hide and seek, catch, water games We will definitely come back here later.

As someone who's travelled the world since childhood and stayed at many 5 star hotels/resorts, I felt compelled to leave this review based on the ones I've seen. I'm currently staying at the hotel as I type and feel as though I can offer good perspective to those looking to come here. I've seen some pretty harsh reviews and although some of the criticism is valid I'd rather provide more balance. Now, this hotel looks great but it's definitely not a 5 star. It's sadly let down by the service and lots of seemingly small things that eventually add up. Firstly though, the grounds are stunning. It really is beautiful. it's new and modern and if you're coming here for the aesthetics you'll be pleased. The hotel is clean and grounds well taken care of. Sadly that is where the 5 star experience ends for me. Let's start with the food. I was shocked at the reviews that discuss how bad the food is. I personally think as far as all inclusive buffets go the food is pretty middle of the road. Neither amazing nor bad in my opinion. There is absolutely enough choice for even the fussiest of eaters but after a few days I am pretty bored. There was a guy making fresh wraps during dinner one evening - these were delicious! The breakfast and lunchtime offerings are better than dinner for me personally and the food isn't as hot as you'd like. I understand it's an all inclusive buffet but I've stayed at resorts where the food is piping. I haven't experienced the long queues and wait times other people have mentioned but I can only put that down to the time of year I'm here. What I found strange though is during breakfast, lunch and dinner there are no wait staff coming to take drink orders. Someone does come round to bring bottled water to the table but that's pretty much it. Again, this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel where is the service? Food from the snack bar is not included in your AI and if you'd like to eat anything from here you need to pay extra. I purchased a taco and regretted it instantly. It was absolutely disgusting, with hardly ANY filling and cost me €11! I'm still irritated about paying for what was terrible quality and no where near a taco. Eateries on the premises not included in the AI package rub the wrong way. No real 5 star luxury resort charges their guests extra for food it's either all inclusive or it isn't. There is a beach bar included in your AI that offers Gyros and they're delicious. I would stay clear of the snack bar in its entirety and go and eat on the beach. The on site restaurants are the biggest point of contention for me. I'm here in mid October and the hotel is certainly NOT busy enough for us not to be able to get any reservations at the restaurants. Again, not an all inclusive experience and I've come across many other guests sharing the same frustrations. I urge you not to spend your hard earned money staying at this hotel. Please believe the bad reviews. I’ve genuinely never reviewed a hotel before but I’m so disappointed that we chose Helea for our first holiday as a family with a new baby. It’s absolutely NOT a 5* hotel and 99% of the staff are rude and miserable, the service is so so bad. I’ve copied below an email I sent to the hotel manager after we left which includes all the details of my review. I have to write this to you and let you know my experience of your hotel. The reason I’m writing this and didn’t tell you in person at the hotel, is because I didn’t feel comfortable speaking to any of the staff at the hotel. With the exception of 3 staff members, every single member of staff made me feel uncomfortable. They were not welcoming, they were rude, they were not helpful, they were intimidating at times, so I’m sure you can understand why I chose not to complain directly to the staff whilst staying with you, and instead decided to wait until I’d left and send an email. I will also be writing a public review but felt it is the right thing to do to tell you directly as well. Service & Staff - When we checked in on 13th September we were shown to our room by (one of the 3 friendly staff) a young man and we immediately noticed the room we had been given was not the room I had booked. I had specifically booked a room with a swim up pool because we had our 4 month old baby with us and we wanted to be able to swim while the baby slept in the room. I called reception to let them know we had been assigned the wrong room and she then informed me they had upgraded our room. I told her the reason we wanted a swim up pool room and she said they could change it in the morning. In the end we decided not to change rooms but I feel if you are going to upgrade someone you should be given the choice or be told upon checkin that the upgrade has been given. After all, an upgrade is a good thing, why not use the opportunity to make a guest happy by letting them know they have been upgraded? But the staff would rather allow a guest to be taken to a room they are not expecting that is missing a very big part of the description. This is only the start of the examples of why the service at your hotel is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I have no idea how you managed to get a 5* rating, you’re very lucky. - The bar staff greet you with “who’s next?” Not, hello, how are you? They make your drink and move on to the next guest. They make no effort to make conversation, not really smiling, they made me feel like I was annoying them by ordering a drink, not that they were there to provide a nice service to me as their guest. Here’s an example, at the lobby bar, I queued one morning for 5 minutes, when I got to the bar I asked for a Greek coffee and the gentleman said “we don’t serve Greek coffee at this bar”. In ANY star rating hotel the response I would expect is more like “apologies we don’t serve Greek coffee

Helena Family Beach resort is an excellent hotel located in beautiful Rhodes.The facilities are amazing with modern decoration and nice rooms. The rooms were very comfortable and the view was very beautiful. It also includes a private beach, a pool and water slides for kids. It should be noted that the staff is very kind and helpful. I would like to add that cleanliness was undeniably a main concern, so every part of the hotel was very clean. The food was also amazing with flavors for all the tastes. The hotel combines many things so it's a very nice hotel for relaxation for families, but it could be also a grate place for a business trip. I highly recommend it!

The staff was always polite and willing to serve. The rooms are clean and spacious. In the restaurant there was a wide variety for all tastes and they were tasty and clean. There are many areas for swimming, playing and having fun. Perfect place for a holiday, I highly recommend it.

Great experience. Beautiful location close to the old town of Rhodes. The hotel is state of the art with practically every facility one might ask for. Suitable for families with babiesand children of all ages, couples or anybody looking for a relaxing holiday. The buffet restaurants offer a huge variety of gourmet dishes, vegan as well, so you can really enjoy your stay. Highly recommended!!
