King Minos Retreat Resort & Spa

Many thanks to all the staff and Management team for looking after us during our holiday break in Hersonissos. Highly professional, efficient and friendly team that went above and beyond their duties to make our stay an impressive one. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Check in experience was ok as we arrived late at night. A warm welcome from front desk staff and our luggage were taken care of. Unfortunately my wife a bit of an accident. She tripped and fell injuring her knee and finger. Staff were very quick to help making sure she was comfortable before taking us into our room. Because of the late arrival we missed dinner however they made provision for a light meal which was kept in our mini fridge. Hotel was opened a year ago, perfect for families/Couples. Very quiet and peacefully surroundings to ensure a wonderful and relaxing stay. Great location with easy access to the beach and into town. All areas in the hotel both indoors and outdoors is super clean. Our room (3214) was modern, seamlessly clean and nicely decorated. Furniture and fittings in the room were of good quality, and bathroom well laid out. Bed and pillows very comfortable which guaranteed a very sound sleep each night. Control panels for room lighting is fantastic and easy to operate. Bathroom accessories were more than adequate. Tea and coffee making facilities were brilliant. Coffee pods and tea bags replenished on a daily basis. We opted for half board basis and thoroughly enjoyed it as it suited our needs. Extensive range of menu and the quality of food on display during breakfast and dinner times was superb, catering for all tastes, accompanied by fantastic customer service by the restaurant staff, very attentive and helpful. The pool area is massive and full of comfortable beds and loungers, more than adequate to feel you have privacy to relax. And the bar is fully stocked to cater for every need. The hotel has provided all the amenities to ensure that residents have enjoyable and a very relaxing stay. In summary our first stay at the hotel was fabulous. Hospitality accorded to us by the hotel staff was truly superb. We can’t wait to visit again! We would like to give a shout to the following staff in no particular order. We was really really looking forward to our stay at King Minos Resort. But sadly it does require improvements in many areas. We got a private transfer from the airport it took around 25-30mins upon arriving around 10pm the hotel looked stunning all lit up! We was then checked in and taken to our room, all we was given is a little piece of paper with some basic hotel information on (no map). As this was a special holiday we had upgraded our room too a private pool with a Seaview at quite a large extra cost. The room looked lovely upon arrival but with it being late we couldn’t really see the view until the morning. Upon waking up we was a little disappointed to see that the view was a far cry from the pictures we was sold online (I will attach pic of the view) yes you could see the sea (just) but it was heavily obstructed by large trees and also right next too a busy main road which was pretty loud. This should maybe only be advertised as a partial Seaview at best. We explained this all too reception who eventually sorted something out and arranged for us to move rooms later that day but we needed leave our original room Pretty much straight away so we had to then pack up and have all our cases taken back to reception and wait around for 2-3 hours for our new room to be ready. Unfortunately this obviously was not an ideal start to our holiday. Once we changed rooms the room and the view was stunning much more like we expected! Great little sun trap but unfortunately you could still hear the road pretty loudly which was probably the only downside too the new room! Restaurant & food The food (buffet) was a pretty good standard but unfortunately let down by severe understaffing some nights you could not find a clean table for 10/15 mins and 4 out of the 7 nights we was never even offered drinks! I did feel for the staff they was so friendly and hardworking it was obvious they are being let down by higher management. Not something you expect from a 5 star hotel. What was worrying is the staff actually asked us to leave a review for them too try and get help on this issue. Also one of the party did have a gluten intolerance, this was not catered for very well, the standard pasta and pizza was offered but we have been to many of hotels where at breakfast they will have a small gluten free section. The food allergen labelling was very hit and miss so overall I certainly wouldn’t recommend this hotel for people with food allergies. GYM The gym was small and did have great views but was often busy with there just being one treadmill and one bike for cardio many of times you couldn’t get on them. Location The hotel is around 20-25 minutes walk away from the Main Street of Hersonissos. With the nearest supermarket around 10 minutes walk away, the hotel is built into the hillside so is obviously very hilly so maybe not too good for people with mobility issues. Overall we wouldn’t stay here again and as mentioned earlier in the review this

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are really friendly! However we never had our mini fridge and water stocked up at all throughout our stay after asking several times for it to be refilled We also tried to order the 24 hour room service they have on offer however they said they didn’t have it as they had no food. Happy with my experience just some minor fixes to really give it that 5 star

I did a solo trip and stayed at this hotel. The room i had was beautiful The staff was kind and friendly and helped me with any issues i had I did halfboard. the breakfast was amazing with plenty of food variety. Dinner was also delicious with variety the hotel is spacious with a lovely swimming pool, poor bar , spa and many more. 5/5 would recommend

I'm so happy me and my family chose to stay at this hotel. The stay here was beautiful. The accommodation was immaculate. The food at the restaurant and pool bar delicious. I want to say a big thank you to Dimitri our host in the restaurant and to all the staff at King Minos. You all are amazing. I will definitely be returning here.

A beautiful hotel that’s been newly renovated. Dimitri and his colleagues are really friendly and welcoming and my family are having a really enjoyable time here in Crete. Food quality is excellent in the restaurant with a nice choice of wine and the pool and pool bar are 1st class! Highly recommended *****

An amazing hotel with very friendly and attentive staff who go above and beyond to make the stay just perfect. The room was amazing with cold food in fridge on late arrival which was a nice touch. The restaurant was amazing with lovely food and good variety each morning and night. Dimitri in particular, with the rest of the amazing staff made the stay so comfortable and enjoyable. The staff could not be faulted. The pool area was so peaceful and thankfully no fighting for sun beds every day! There were always beds available at all hours of the day. Will definitely return and recommend to family and friends.

My stay at King Minos was absolutely amazing. All the staff were friendly, attentive and willing to go above and beyond to ensure my stay was everything that I hoped for. The staff embrace different cultures and took an interest in my home land (Jamaica). Each day staff member Dimi would check to ensure that me and my family were ok, he is AMAZING and extremely welcoming. My board was half board, breakfast and dinner, each day there was a vast variety of food i.e lamb chops, kebab, satay chicken wings and sea bass (highly recommend) all food was cooked to perfection. All in all an amazing trip!!! I will definitely be returning.

Such a nice experience with my partner as we loved our rooms, restaurants and services as they were very nice, helpful and friendly especially the gentleman Dimitris. I highly recommend here, the resort is luxurious and very clean thanks to the services
