The good: Pre stay communication with the hotel was done smoothly and the reception replied quickly to my email. In my email I requested an early check-in as well as a table reservation from the Brasserie restaurant. The receptionist said that the staff would do their best in order to accommodate my early check in request and booked the table from the restaurant for me. When I arrived at the hotel this was true and I was given my room at 1 pm, so 2 hours prior to standard check-in time. The receptionist who checked me in was very kind and tried to speak Swedish with me. She also remembered that I had stayed there before and said welcome back to me. She also said that it would be fine if I checked out an hour later so at 1 pm. The room was upgraded one category up from deluxe to premium deluxe. In addition, there was a greeting card from the General manager welcoming me back to Helsinki and a small box of chocolates which was a nice touch. The Spa at the hotel is absolutely fabulous and it’s a nice place to relax after a busy day. Always worth the visit. The receptionist who checked me out was very kind and remembered to welcome me back again. The bad: Overall, I had a very good stay here. There weren’t any major flaws during my stay, but there were some mistakes done by the restaurant Brasserie kitchen in my food order. However, the restaurant waiters were very kind and apologetic. They even offered me a complimentary salad while I waited for my dinner order to get corrected.

Crowne Plaza Helsinki - Hesperia

Stayed at this lovely hotel as part of our wedding anniversary in Helsinki. We had such a nice time. Excellent hotel, well located, lovely friendly helpful staff. Great room, good size on the eighth floor, room had an electric kettle, and a mini fridge which is always welcome. Large comfortable bed and the bathroom was very nice. Breakfast buffet was excellent, very tasty food, and drinks, a good amount of choice, I had a cheese omelette made to order on several days and it was delicious. Good bar at the hotel, nice to relax and have a glass of wine at the end of the evening. We don't normally eat evening meals at the hotels we stay in, but the food we saw did look lovely, so on our last evening we were hungry but did not want too much. So we both had the salmon soup as a starter each snd that was it. It was delicious. The menu was small, and that is in no way a criticism. I actually prefer that. There are two small super markets nearby for any essentials, we got fresh milk for cups of tea each morning before breakfast. We bought our own teabags from the UK! we are British after all! And bought chocolate and water at the supermarket. We walked every where from the hotel for what we wanted to do, but there are trams/buses right outside the hotel if required. Plenty of cafes and restaurants near by. Would recommend Kuu restaurant. My favourite restaurant during our stay. Although to be fair the food was amazing. I really liked the Finnish food. All in all we had such a lovely holiday and would highly recommend this hotel to fellow travellers.

There are vacations you take, hotels you stay in and people you meet who enhance the overall experience exponentially. This was all true of our exceptional time in Helsinki and a large part of this experience was owed to our wonderful 3-day stay at Hotel F6. A large amount of this is owed to the sterling staff -- among the elites in all our travels. Our story started a day before our actual stay, when we requested to store extra luggage before our overnight trip to Tallinn, Estonia. Without hesitation, the staff agreed to watch over our large luggage for free before our actual check-in the next day. This kind act greatly helped us during our mini cruise to Estonia. The following day, during our check-in, we met Ida, who became not only our Helsinki dining expert, but also a great person to get to know all around. Ida helped secure every reservation for our culinary journey from the first night. She is an exceptional employee and a great asset to an already amazing staff. We thank her for making our stay at F6 so comfortable and fun. Eimer was also friendly and full of help for restaurant ideas. We appreciate his fun demeanor and fun conversation. Our room was very conveniently located on the first level -- very spacious, clean and so easy to come and go. The hotel layout, especially the lobby and dining/lounge area were easy to access. The complimentary breakfast was fresh, well presented and very flavorful. Perhaps the best breakfast in town. Is this the best hotel in Helsinki? Let's just say the competition is slim. :-)

Booked this hotel for the convenient location. Few minutes from train station, sea front, shops and main tourist sites. I arrived late at night and was not sure about it at first. The reception area is in the bar/lounge and I thought I had booked a hostel. Rest assured the rooms are very nice and comfortable, breakfast is delicious and staff very nice and helpful. It’s descent value for money also. Only thing for me is that there was no desk in my room, so I went to the lobby to work. Highly recommending this slight quirky hotel overall.

GLO Hotel Kluuvi is an excellent choice for a weekend in Helsinki. First reason is location. 7-10 min walk from the central train station, trams right outside the door, numerous restaurants next door, 5 min walk to the cathedral and 7-10 min walk to market square. Second reason is the price. We stayed in shoulder season, and payed about $150 per night including taxes and fees, internet and breakfast. Third reason is breakfast. Hotel breakfast saves you money, but it’s even better when it’s good. Their buffet offered hot foods (eggs, bacon, sausages and veggies), cereals, cheese, meat, breads, fruit, coffee/tea, and even custom juice from a dispenser controlled by an iPad app. They also had special dietary options including gluten free and lactose free. Fourth reason is the rooms. They were comfortable and spacious with all needed amenities. Overall we are thrilled with our choice to stay at GLO and would stay again.

Marski by Scandic

The team is super friendly & warm - always smiling & assisting with questions, directions & suggestions. Clean Rooms With 100% noise cutting windows. We stayed in the basic room facing the road & slept blissfully all nights. The Marski has the best best breakfast spread I have ever seen in a hotel in all my 27 years of travel. They have options for every kind of guest. It's unbelievably thoughtful Though we didn't go to the bar, it was packed most evenings with DJ music playing & gave the hotel a lively atmosphere
The Yard Hostel

On an upper floor of the building with the sign City Forum Hostel above its building entrance, it was an ok 3-night stay at this place in an 8-bed dorm room (with a nice addition of a small two-shelf piece in my bed) with also a spacious ”common room” (with long comfortable sofa chairs & also some nice-sized tables). So yes, with the place itself just an average one, the best part of the stay here I would say is its proximity to ”all the essentials”: for sightseeing with just about a 10-minute walk to the ”downtown waterfront” where to visit are the city's ”premier sites” (Helsinki Cathedral, Uspenski Cathedral, SkyWheel Helsinki & the tent-market) and yes where there's also the ferry dock to the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress; for shopping with just about a 5-minute walk to the two big shopping malls (Stockmann just across the main street and Forum to the left on the main street without crossing it); and for food with really quite a number of places to eat right around here (including the two McDonald's in & around the Forum Mall and the ”pretty nice” buffet restaurant called Luckiefun's for Chinese & Japanese food).

Very central location just opposite the famous Stockmann department stall. Easily walkable to many attractions, museums, shopping areas and restaurants. About 10mins walk to Helsinki Central Station which links up to the airport through rail. Our room (triple room) was quite spacious and well-furnished. Hotel also allowed us to place luggage in cabinets that comes with its own key, free of charge, after we checked out.
