Walked into the property to begin our exploration of Cooperstown and upon entering the lobby the chlorine smell was overwhelming- no eye contact was made upon checking in (she was in fact the chewing her food throughout check in).
We came down a half hour later to check out the pool and have our daughter swim- upon entering the small space there was a family of 4 coughing and wheezing. Upon gathering chairs to try to sit we had such a reaction to the chlorine in the air our eyes were burning, red and tearful. We decided to make out way to the front desk to make them aware of the situation, and we were told that it was just us, no one else had complained. Mind you, we were with the other family that was at the pool who were legitimately worried about their children, and the reason why they were so much chlorine from permeating throughout the hotel.
The smell was in our nose for the next several hours, despite trying to get some fresh air outside. Both people we engaged with were rude and completely ignorant of the situation. No apologies were made and we ended up leaving a day early despite our 2 tonight reservation. We did not feel comfortable and we didn’t take advantage of the breakfast, because the cleanliness of the hotel came in to play as well. Everything had a bleached smell, like they were trying to overcompensate for some thing. Such a disappoin**ent as we planned to enjoy our time in the town but had to cut our trip short due to the accommodations.
