The hotel only check in at 4:00pm. only at 4:00pm... many guests arrive in the day time and wait for a long time for check in..... long long queue. The staff gave me a wrong room with no window, that is very narrow, which I have reserved a standard single room with a queen bed. the room with no window, no wifi, no network...and seems that I cananot breath in the room... and I have to go back to the lobby again ..... the door card is not that good... I have to go to the reception to activate the card every day...yes. .. every day... sometime, I found out that when I tried to open my room door...but it failed... and I have to go back to the lobby again.... it is quite annoying. The location is OK. with bus to the airport and the tram and bus station nearby. The breakfast is good, with plenty of choices. The food is the same every day.

After staying in a number of hotels in Edinburgh, Novotel Edinburgh Park is definitely of highest quality in this price range. The location is perfect if you are working outside of the city but want to still experience the city centre at night. Edinburgh Park train station and tram stop are very close to the hotel with frequent services to neighbouring towns and Waverley station (city centre). The train is quickest to Waverley at only 9 mins and costs as little as £2.70 at super off peak times for a return ticket. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean. There are hundreds of channels on the 55” TVs. The beds are comfy and there is a temperature regulator fan (not air conditioning). The bathrooms are clean and well furnished. Executive rooms get some more toiletries than standard rooms. Some rooms have baths and some have stand-in showers. (Maybe you can note your preference when booking) Breakfast is definitely worth paying for. There’s a huge selection of food options, something for everyone. Hot food and continental style breakfast is offered and is a buffet style. The restaurant is large but can be very busy in the evenings. Car parking is offered at a member rate (Accor ALL account holders) of £6 per day. I would rate the hotel very highly, after staying here a number of times over the past few months and with more bookings in the not so distant future. I look forward to returning!

We stayed here for 2 nights and arrived home today. Firstly all the staff were absolutely lovely!! We was so happy and to say they’re dog friendly really made our stay much better. The bedroom was spacious, the bed was huge, comfy & the shower was great! The cleanliness was 1000/1000 and we would definitely be back!! We didn’t have breakfast but the prices are cheap & I really recommend staying here. My dog loved it, I did tell the staff not to tidy my room and when we come back they had (which I felt bad about because it was a mess & our dog had stuffing everywhere from his teddy) but Thankyou for cleaning it anyways. Fresh clean plenty of towels, the only thing I would say is please add proper toiletries e g shampoo and conditioner as my hair did not like the shampoo. All in all it’s in the city centre, the windows open and you get a huge fan in your room!! The tv works, the WiFi works & it’s next door to tesco express, sainsburys & pubs!

The room is good, with a view at the door, which is the characteristic of the castle hotel. The service is good, the room is clean, and the space is large. The interior decoration of the room is very classic and very atmospheric.

I've never stayed in a hostel before, let alone in a former jail revamped as one ! Besides the gimmick, the Court is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Edinburgh, whether on a budget or not : fantastic location near the St Giles cathedral (where city tours seemingly start from), super friendly staff and surprisingly clean amenities (first time experience in a hostel so I didn't know what to expect quite frankly). Would definitely recommend !

I booked a a night within the hotel on Halloween as we had booked a walking ghost tour within the city. It was a bit of a walk down to the Royal mile taking about 25 mins but as it was dry it was ok. The hotel was fantastic, the reception staff were lovely and very helpful. The entrance lobby was warm and clean, very inviting. All of the corridors were very well maintained, clean and beautifully decorated. Our room was very spacious with a queen sized bed, seating area and a good sized bathroom. The room again was nicely decorated and well equipped. Due to the restrictions the hotel restaurant was closed but we were allowed to order food into the hotel and the receptionist even pointed us in the direction of local shops. I would recommend the hotel and will most probably stay again.

I would have preferred to write my hopefully constructive comments to a member of the senior management at the Dakota Hotels organisation, particularly as they are in the growth stages. However, and significantly, having failed in all my attempts to research an appropriate member of the senior management team, which included writing ‘twice’ to the Dakota Hotel Edinburgh reception (no response), spending a lot of time researching Linkedin and perusing the government website ‘companies house’, not one member of the senior management team appeared. Consequently, I have penned my comments to trip advisor. Location The Dakota Hotel Edinburgh is ideally located to the airport and a super wedding venue, Dunbas Castle. Initially, one is either impressed by the modern looking black edifice or find it depressing, a personal choice. Apparently, the theme of the hotel is one of a sombre mood, where an abundance of light is shunned. On the first evening we held a small champagne reception in a room shared by another wedding party. A gentleman from the other party asked a member of staff who came to close the blinds and put us all in near darkness if it was possible to leave them open. The staff member said it was against hotel policy but would ask the duty manager. Within a few minutes the duty manager appeared and brusquely closed the shutters in a most defiant manner, clearly illustrating the mood of the management! Reception Staff The first impression of a hotel is often made when checking in. Alas, of all the reception staff I encountered during our 4 day stay, I was appalled by the lack of friendly interaction. Indeed, on many occasions the extremely abrupt and curt conversations were almost offensive. Fortunately, there was one female manager named Megan who is most definitely an excellent example for the hospitality industry, as she was polite, attentive, and most efficient. Megan was indeed a redeeming feature of this hotel. At the initial check-in we were informed that we would be entitled to a glass of champagne and two Hors d'oeuvres each evening. This only occurred on two of our 4 evenings! When my daughter arrived from America, she was not told that breakfast was included in her room nor that she was entitled to a complementary glass of champagne and two Hors d'oeuvres each evening of her stay. As my daughter’s stay combined business with pleasure, she had some very important business and video calls to make but was frequently prevented from accomplishing her work as the hotel WiFi was not robust enough. In response to her complaints, she was offered 2 further alternative access points, but neither was sufficient to achieve a strong enough connection. Dining Room The dining room (brasserie Grill) was appropriately illuminated and the staff in the main were efficient and very polite. Stayed overnight at the Leonardo Hotel as we were hosting friends visiting from Pensilvania USA and all I can say is it was outstanding! From check in, special mention to Steve the Concierge (who diligently stored our bags and offered advice) to the welcome complimentary glass of Prosecco all of the staff were tentative and exceptionally friendly! The rooms were clean and comfortable and the restaurant for breakfast outstanding. All in all fantastic value for money and we would definitely recommend it!

We stayed 1 night in the Roomzzz aparthotel and it was amazing, the staff on reception were happy and helpful. The reception and the room itself were both immaculately clean, the room was modern and spacious with all the facilities we needed, the beds are really comfortable too. In reception we were offered complimentary hot drinks whenever we liked and on the following morning complimentary pastries are served which was a lovely touch. The location is amazing also right in the centre so within walking distance to both the new town and old town, over all amazing and when next visiting Edinburgh will be booking here again x

The hotel is very new, the decoration is rich in design, and the hygiene is good. The room is large, but the bathroom leaks. There are no latex pillows or thermometers. The location is at the junction of the old and new cities. There is a shopping mall downstairs, and it is very convenient to go to attractions.
