DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!! I'm very disappointed with this hotel!! The pictures on the listings are very misleading!! It wasn't as advertised AND there were other issues as well! To start with its old and that's fine but dang, at least do some repairs/updates!! The lace curtains looked like the ones they originally hung when it was but in the 80s! Instead of buying them or hemming them to fit the windows, they're just wadded up on top of AC unit. The blackout curtains had holes in them! Here's the order issues: 1) one listing said indoor pool and hot tub and there wasn't either 2) we checked in on Wed - took 30 min to do so then on Thursday the key wouldn't work - housekeeper said it's bc I had it by my phone which it wasn't at any point (the key stayed in my wallet in my purse, the phone in my hand or pocket!) ... I went to the front desk to get a new one and they said it was deactivated bc we were a ”no show” in the Computer 3) Friday morning around 830 housekeeping comes barging into the room without knocking and asked why we were in there (duh!) then proceeded to tell us again we were no shows 4) room was dirty - glass rings on table, soap or toothpaste scum running down side of tub, 2 inches of dust on floor lamps 5) outdoor pool Dimly lit (only pool light was at steps and it gave about 5 feet of light) felt very unsafe out there - we only stayed 5 minutes - which was disappointing to my granddaughter 6) only 1 elevator worked and was on other side of property 7) Some staff/security didn't give us a feeling of being safe. The owner/managers response was ”it's hard to find good help” then went back to typing on the computer. I know it's a cheaper hotel and I didn't expect it be the Ritz but c'mon!!

Legoland® Florida Resort

My school-aged kids loved it. We had a basic room, but there was plenty of theming and space. The kids bunk area was awesome. Beds were comfortable and room was very clean. While the disco elevators are fun, we took the stairs some, which were wide and spacious... and themed! The service is phenomenal. From the front desk to the water park guards to the food staff. The lobby in the evenings can be incredibly loud as kids have the pajama party, but after 10pm, the place is wonderfully quiet. We borrowed Lego-themed early readers from the front desk's ”library” and also did a Master Builder class (sign up before you arrive or try to snap up last minute spot at your own risk). It was all so easy. This isn't Disney in the best way... no crazy advanced planning required. Just go and enjoy the family time! A note -- There is a Publix across the street. We stopped in for essentials, like snacks and a bottle of wine for the grownups to enjoy after the kids went to bed. We also did not eat dinner on property any night because we needed a break from the Lego-insanity. There are good locally owned restaurants nearby.
Lake Roy Beach Inn - Winter Haven

I've driven past this property so many times while in town and always thought it looked kind of cute in a retro kind of way. The grounds are well-manicured and they have little pavilions with tiki lights next to the ”lake”. So, on this trip, I decided to give it a try. First the positive points -- the owners are friendly and welcoming, the room was technically clean, and the WiFi was good. However, the rooms are extremely shabby (and not in a shabby-chic kind of way). I could deal with shabby...what I could not deal with was the extremely thin walls. By ”thin” I mean this: it's best if your just put your TV on whatever channel your neighbor is watching. Trust me. Also, you will hear every single word your neighbor utters in their room....every. single. word. Finally, don't be surprised if you wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of your neighbor snoring. I am serious.
