The hotel is at the foot of the mountain with beautiful scenery. The staff is very good, very skilled in using translation software to communicate, and helped us carry the suitcases. The transportation here is not convenient enough. The 505 bus runs once an hour, so be sure to check the timetable in advance. There is a camper station nearby and paddling by the lake. It was Sunday, and it was a good place for nearby residents to drive here for leisure.

2 nights' stay here on a short trip away. Booking was easy, as was check-in. We'd booked beds in dorm rooms - comy beds, decent space for 8-bed dorms, and well heated. The self catered kitchen was well equipped and there certainly was a friendly a**osphere amongst ourselves and other YHA guests using the space. It's in a great location for exploring the beautiful local area.

Just spent 2 excellent nights here. A great welcome for a bedraggled biker soaked from the rain. Staff and facilities spot on. Breakfasts tasty, rooms clean and tidy. All in all a great place to stay despite the weather. Shout out to Jo, the manager and Chris the cook, who offered to help when the water got into the older Beemer. I did get home ok, by the way! 4 of us (2 adults, 2 kids) stayed here for a short break in February and it was fantastic. The house and facilities are great, and the staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. It's also a great base to explore the stunning Lake District. Well definitely be back.

Great landpod stay. Stayed in a tipi previously, tried the landpods this time. Lovely and peaceful spot. Toilet and shoeer facilities are spotless. Staff lovely and friendly. Only downside is the loo is quite a walk from the landpods, especially at night!

Loved my stay at Holly How. The staff are so kind and friendly and made me feel so welcome, so thank you - you are a great team! Holly How is a grand old house with a cosy feel and it is only a short walk from Coniston village and the beautiful and serene Coniston Water. I fell head-over-heels for the local Herdwick sheep, who are big softies with the bonniest faces. This has to rank as one of my all-time favourite stays in a YHA hostel and I look forward to staying here again next year.

Great youth hostel, well located for Coniston for walks and fun on the lake. Fantastic staff - friendly, efficient, welcoming. Lovely a**osphere, nice lounge/bar with games. We stayed in a tipi which worked well for a family of four plus dog. Cosy inside with wood burner and great area outside with picnic table and fire pit.

Bedroom was ok but not totally ideal as had to walk past reception/lounge area to the nearest toilet and upstairs for nearest shower. I think all other rooms might be on the first floor so better placed. Otherwise - nice reception/bar/lounge area with outside terrace. Kitchen facilities are fine.
