Dorint Hotel am Heumarkt Koeln

Cologne City Center Cologne|1.13km from Historischer Brunnen
Sadly this is NOT a 5 star hotel and I don’t even know how they got that rating. They may have been at one point but unfortunately my experience there was not of a 5 star hotel. The staff was very friendly however the hotel itself was very underwhelming. Upon arrival there was a paper stuck on the elevator saying there will be no water after midnight for the next 3 days . We then got a room on the 6th floor which had a nice view of the street, however at 8am in the morning we were woken up by drilling sounds from a floor above us and when we complained to the staff they said there was nothing they could do about it, we then finally got moved to the second floor, but the furniture in that room was so old rusty and outdated in my opinion. My boyfriend wanted to go take a nice swim in the pool that is advertised on their website only to realize that using it is an extra charge as the pool does not belong to the hotel. The pillows we had were also very bad, usually you get a set of about 2-3 pillows in 5 star hotels but we only got 1 flat pillow each which was very uncomfortable to sleep on. Sadly the only good thing about this hotel is that it’s very close to everything, about 5 minutes to the main station and the supermarket is right across the street as are most restaurants. The Rhein river is also quite close. I believe the hotel has a lot of improvement to do but it seems they are not even considering improvement any time soon. After the not so great experience we had we thought maybe they might offer some sort of compensation but nothing was offered. Once again this is really not a 5 star hotel so don’t be fooled.

Hotel Mondial am Dom Cologne - MGallery

Definitely one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in and the best hotel from Accor Hotels. I had accidentally booked the wrong dates for my stay. As soon as I realised it, I contacted the hotel. The staff helped me to change my reservation dates. While on my trip, due to the strikes in France and problems with the train connections I had to postpone my meeting online. I sent an email to request to check in early since I will be having my meeting at 1 p.m. Ms Wulff made the necessary arrangements prior to my arrival. On my arrival I was able to check in early and able to proceed with my online meeting. Without her help I would not be able to conduct my meeting. On the next day, I had another online meeting. Her colleague made the necessary arrangements so that the housekeeping team could get the room cleaned before lunch and my next online appointment. Till date I have stayed in a number of hotels from the Accor Hotels group. In comparison to M Gallery am Konzerthaus in Wien, Hotel Mondial am Dom in Cologne exceeds my expectations. Professionalism The staff at the reception were not only friendly and good at what they are doing, they are also willing to help and went an extra mile to make things possible. I would not have been able to get my work done if they did not help me. Even when checking out, the staff was professional and showed interest to assist customers whenever they dan. Splendid Location Situation a few minutes walk from the train station and the main city area, is this hotel definite one of the most strategic location in Cologne. View of the Cathedral I managed to get a glimpse of the cathedral from my room. Dinner I had dinner at the hotel restaurant. It was not only affordable, the service was impeccable. The waiter even suggested where I could sit so that I can get the best view of the area. Awesome! I would like to thank the remarkable staff for making my stay in Köln memorable und unforgettable. I would definitely be staying in this hotel again when I visit Cologne. We knew that reception opening time was till 22:00 and therefore i wrote, in the booking note, ”late checkin, our flight will land at 21.25”.  I thought that someone was waiting for us to checkin, it was just a matter of 30min. When we arrived, around 22:30, we found the door closed, we rang the bell, but nobody was answering.  We then tried to call the hotel emergency number, none answered. Worried abut the situation, it was night and we were on the street without any accommodation.  We then went into the restaurant beside the hotel entrance and fortunately we found a girl very kind to help us. She also tried to call the emergency number without success. After 5 calls, finally someone answered the phone, but unfortunately she was not able to speak English. I don't speak German, unfortunately, and I passed my phone to the girl of restaurant that talked to the girl from the hotel emergency number. She said that our code was 888, but neither us and the restaurant girl were able to find a pin pad to type this pin. The guy at the phone did not have an idea on where this pin pad could have been. After at least 20 minutes and other 2 calls, the hotel guy told us that the pin pad was in the street close to the ring bell, something really invisible, especially in the night. We finally got the key and entered our room. Together with the key, we got a welcome letter. Unfortunately it was in German and therefore we were not able to read it. Is it a good welcome? When we entered the room, we immediately noticed that it was not very clean and the bathroom even worse. The wc was really dirty (see pictures). We also noticed that a lot of long hairs were on the room/bath floor and on the table. We also found long hairs on bed sheets (see picts). Only half roll of toilet paper was available. We could not fix our issues because in the meanwhile the restaurant closed and if we had called the hotel emergency number, we would not have been able to communicate. The following day, we talked to the receptionist and he really apologized for what happened. He also changed our room, fortunately. We have finally asked for a late checkout for the next day, since our flight is at 22:00. We requested checkout at 18:00 and expected an immediate positive answer, after all problems we had, but the receptionist said that had to ask the boss. After a couple of hours we asked again and she said that we need to wait for tomorrow morning for his answer. The next day, late checkout was denied because the cleaning staff had to clean (?) the rooms. While leaving the hotel, we saw the bed sheets were left (during cleaning service) on the floor ... without any protection and we fully understand why the bed sheets were full of hairs... Having the room not fully cleaned can happen also in the best hotels, but usually a good customer care can fix immediately the issues and maybe add something complimentary to the impacted guest, just to give a strong sign of sorry. We haven't received anyth

The design of the hotel is very special, being housed in an old insurance company’s head quarters. The theming around space is very cool without feeling cheesy or over the top. Very instagrammable elevators! We arrived late but the front desk team was ready for our arrival. The friendly front desk team member got us a generous upgrade to a larger room facing the dome! The room was spacious with an integrated bathroom with a large shower. We loved the modern design of the room. Everything you might need as available, free minibar, desk, plenty of space, big TV, many windows, live plants. We went to the bar for a drink, there was a big group having drinks and the staff was busy but still friendly. Drinks were decent! Breakfast at Neni was delicious, with loads of choices and very high quality! We would have expected some other Middle Eastern specialties than hummus. The breakfast is 100% self service so there was almost no interaction with the staff. But the little contact we had they were very friendly! For a breakfast without any service I would have expected them to be more attentive when cleaning plates/ setting up tables. Check out was quick an really friendly. Still my favourite 25hours Hotel in Germany so far!

Friendly desk staff. Comfortable beds. No mini fridge in room. Rooms were provided with a bottle of water which was nice. Plenty of storage. The soap provided in the bathroom was of poor quality so definitely bring your own. Breakfast was ok. It seemed far too expensive for what it was- yogurt/bread/cheese/ eggs/ honey . One day we found mouldy yogurt/orange/crudités - they dealt with this swiftly and didn’t charge us for breakfast. Housekeeping didn’t come once during our 3 night stay. One of the chairs in our room had questionable stains on it. The gym looked very small and only had one set of weights and an elliptical machine. Overall a comfortable stay. More 3 star than 4 star hotel. Was conveniently situated close to good shops and restaurants.

I thought it was a hotel room, but found out that I rented the entire apartment. There is a restaurant, but no tableware. It is very spacious, close to the station and close to Cologne Cathedral.
Tante ALMA's Hotel Lasthaus am Ring

In the context of a concert visit, I had the opportunity to stay in this cozy hotel. As already seen on the homepage, the hotel is characterized by a lovely and charming concept: guests can admire and enjoy the heartfulness and style of tante Alma; almost as, as if you were to visit his own grandmother. The furniture and the deco are consistent and beautiful without kissing. The rooms are very clean, offer sufficient space and the beds are really super-comfortable. Both the coffee cranch and the small breakfast are served in Almas living room, which is also furnished with much love for detail. However, breakfast can be quite full and thus (depending on the seat) a little troublesome. But it did not disturb me, because it was not hectic or noisy, but rather mediated the feeling of being part of a large family, where always busy driving is bound to go. The hotel is excellent thanks to the proximity to the Dom/Main Station and the bars/restaurants and shops in the direct environment. Positively surprised me, the noises from outside were hardly heard in the room; so I could really slimmer completely uninterrupted. All in all, I can recommend this hotel without limits and thank you very warmly on this way with the always sympathetic and friendly staff that immediately enchanted a smile in your face! If I come back to Cologne, I will certainly visit Aunt Alma again!
