Club Quarters Hotel Central Loop, Chicago

Chicago Loop Chicago|0.85km from 333 Wacker Drive
Location is quite good as it is within walking distance of local mass transit systems, shopping, eateries, and attractions. The location is also close enough to Grant Park that you could start a run and make it to the park very quickly to continue on for a few miles. Even based on location alone, I would return to this hotel. As others had mentioned, there is a refillable water bottle station by the elevators (empty bottles also provided), which is a great feature. The elevator had a weird quirk where it would overshoot the desired floor when going up (remedy the situation by pressing the button again to send the elevator down to the desired floor). If you do some research into the hotel and its reviews prior to booking there shouldn't really be any surprises. I went into the stay having some idea of what to expect and that helped me enjoy my stay. There is no mini-fridge in the standard room, which is also on the small side but perfectly fine if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the hotel. The only seating in the hotel room was the desk chair. Some of the furnishings could use updating but the bed felt itself was great and the room was clean. I couldn't find any in-room controls for the temperature, but I did not have a problem with this; it's just something to be aware of. The bathroom was clean and utilitarian but towels and toiletries were provided. Updated charging station/hub/clock (both USB A and USB C) for both the desk and the nightstand would go a long way. This hotel is one tenant of a building that was built in the early 1900s. If you've ever lived in a building from around that time, you get used to some things being a little bit older and quirky. Since my priorities were having a great location for a reasonable price (compared to the nearby competition) that was also clean, accessible by mass transit, and had access to an eatery, this was a good stay for me.

1. Didn’t asked for accesible room, but that’s what I got. 2. AC/heating system had a weird noise all night, you can’t turn it on because literally you won’t sleep. 3. Shower had someone’s else hairs in the shower wall, gross. - Hotel Manager: if you do not trust the team and their responsibilities, then you will have to do the rounds yourself to ensure your hotel is operating properly in all aspects. - Housekeeping manager: If you do not trust your people, you will have to do the rounds yourself. -If you still do your rounds but you don’t inspect the rooms properly, then you shouldn’t be in that position. Room fridge isn’t working in the rooms (front desk mentioned) so they ask you if you need one to ask front desk but they are charging for it, so who’s fault is it? client or hotel? don’t charge for something you need to repair REGARDLESS. Make no sense for customer service. Also, if you guys are having a group of “young teen/just turn 21” people, why would you put someone on the accesible room by their room? If someone requires an accesible room, in this case I didn’t required one, got assigned one, but imagine an elder person by their room. These “kids” were loud as heck until 4AM, fighting, arguing, drunk, crying, overall it was a nightmare. Normally I have a good experience with Sheratons, but this one is overrated. I chose this hotel because last minute the company I work for had a meeting suggesting to find different hotels that may give us a group rate for the upcoming visits we will have to do in Chicago, but there’s no way I will suggest my coworkers to stay at this hotel with a first time bad experience. Not sure if I would give it a second try. Can’t risk it.

I admit I was somewhat nervous about booking the Hotel Allegro because some reviews were so negative. I've since realized that those reviewers are probably not accustomed to staying in a city boutique hotel. I last stayed at the Hotel Allegro in 2019 and I thought it was fine. I booked it again because it was a great value and the perfect location for my business trip to the city. My 2022 experience outshines my 2019 visit. I arrived at my 11th-floor room around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening. My room was *perfect.* It was surprisingly spacious for the price and aesthetic. The room featured an iron, a mini fridgerator, multiple charging stations, a television, and a desk. I was surprised to see the hotel offered robes and slippers since the evening rate was so affordable. The hotel elevators are remarkably fast (maybe the fastest I've ever experienced?) and the bellman are very friendly. There is a Starbucks on the ground floor of the building that houses the Hotel Allegro. They open at 5:30 a.m., even on Sundays, so I couldn't ask for more! I didn't get the chance to have a cocktail at the lobby bar but it looked lovely. The property is one block from the Orange line (Midway airport) and about 3 or 4 blocks from Ogilvie station. You can easily walk, as I did, to Michigan Avenue and River North restaurants and bars. P.S. I had spoken with Adam, the assistant property manager, via email prior to my arrival. He was incredibly kind and made sure my experience was perfect. Thank you, Adam!

Comfortable hotel, was a nice stay but overall I wish I would have spent an extra $50-75 a night to stay somewhere nicer. Upon entering there are 2 front desks, one with a sign for VOCO and one with a sign for Holiday Inn, when I arrived I stood at the VOCO side and eventually the employee from the holiday inn side asked if I needed anything to which I replied that I was checking in and she rolled her eyes and responded “okay……then come over here” not sure how I was supposed to know it was one hotel and I could check in at holiday inn? Still not 100% sure if this is a holiday inn rebranded or why the front desk attendant felt the need to be rude. Pros: - great water pressure - good lighting in the bathroom - quick delivery/service of towels - large room, updated furniture - water stations are super convenient, can fill the provided glass jugs and keep them in your fridge - safe area right on the Riverwalk - great view from room Cons: - I went down to the market to get plastic silverware for takeout and had to pay $1.12 for a plastic fork…..couldn’t be charged to the room, just a bad experience having to go back up to my room and get my credit card to buy a fork after traveling for 8 hours and wanting to relax and eat dinner, for $900 for a 3 night stay I think a plastic fork could be complimentary - The heat/AC completely shut off my last night, the thermostat died/none of the buttons or fan would work, I can’t speak to how they would have handled it because I didn’t try, it was 10pm and I was just tired and didn’t want to deal with someone coming to the room - overall the staff just seems disinterested in your presence or experience, even when checking out I let them know about the thermostat so they could get it fixed for the next room and they just replied “okay” - could have been a little cleaner, see picture of fan where metal covering is coming off and corner was sharp

Interesting holiday in the heart of downtown. You enter via the lobby for an apartmen building. Apparently the revolving doors to the hotel were 'broken'. There is a check-in desk -- that is manned sporadically. then you go around the corner, passed the escaloator going down, and to the elevators to the 15th floor. Another lobby and desk there - plus restaurant, snack shop / deli and full bar. This floor is nice with a big interior atrium. Then more elevators up to floors 19-23 where the rooms are. The room was nice - though the A/C was set to 66 when I arrived, and it had just got done snowing. Cranked the heat up, and came back to a toasty room. Think is - it never shut off -- so it was either HOT or COLD. And noisy the whole time. Never got time to file a complaint, as most days when I left in the AM, there was no one at the 15th floor desk, and the check-in desk was always busy. My room was clean-ish, though I did find a bottlecap under the desk when I went looking for a stray sock, and there were 2 unopened beers and a half-drunk YooHoo in the fridge. The fridge is tiny - like smaller than those small college fridges. Elevators: quick and clean Staff: friendly and helpful Location: near lots Price: on gov't orders, but they seemed reasonable Cleanliness: good Towels and linens: Nice, clean and comfortable View: Mine stunk Would recommend: Yes Would re-patronize: Maybe

We stayed for the weekend and were not disappointed. I’m one of those people that do tons of research before choosing a hotel. This one is priced well and is so cozy and welcoming. We stayed in one of the city view rooms which I would totally recommend. The night before I got a notification on the Hilton app saying it’s time to choose my room and I was able to choose a corner room with a view of the city on both sides and it was quite large. Being able to choose your room and know which one you’ll be in when you arrive is great. This hotel is in a great spot and only a few minute walk to an L train station for all of your transportation needs. The neighborhood is pretty quiet from what I saw. We loved the full size pump bottles in the bathroom of body wash, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and hand soap. The front desk staff was always welcoming and answered any questions I had. I would recommend the skyline room. We stayed in room 1815 and had a great view of the city. The only downsides were that the windows were quite dirty and the parking garage was tiny but I understand those aren’t necessarily problems that can be fixed easily. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone else looking for a place to stay in Chicago.
Kimpton Gray Hotel

This was our first visit to Kimpton Gray in Chicago, IL. My husband & I stayed for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) & used 76k IHG rewards points (the price later went up to 122k, so book early!). ARRIVAL/CHECK-IN: We arrived before check-in, but thankfully our room type was available. ROOM: Prior to arrival, I called & emailed the hotel to request early check-in, a quiet room on an upper floor & possible room upgrade. Thanks to my Diamond Elite status, they placed us in a 1 King Premium Deep Soaking Tub. Unfortunately, they could not accomodate the high floor request, so we were assigned room #601. I appreciated the welcome amenity of Acqua Panna Natural Spring Waters & dark chocolate w/ sea salt. • Amenities: Coffee maker & mini refrigerator. You can request a microwave be delivered to your room free of charge. • Bath: Plenty of hot water & decent pressure. The soaking tub is divine! • Bed: Bed & pillows both very comfortable • Cleanliness: So so. I called housekeeping upon arrival to request the team vacuum our room & wipe down surfaces. I also requested a freshen up the next day. Both were taken care of! • Decor: Average. A bit tattered around some edges (see photo of mini fridge). I did like the accent wall behind the tub though. • Heating/cooling: Worked well • Sound: Mostly quiet. The hotel does appear to host a lot of events, so there were a few loud guests walking the halls late at night. • TV: Average; no movie channels that I recall • View: A building & street • WiFi: Worked well DRINKS/FOOD: • No free breakfast offered • Boleo was closed both evenings for private events, so we could not check-out or enjoy the rooftop bar. We tried to use our $20 raid-the-bar credit at Vol. 39 on Saturday at 8:30 PM, but the bar was also closed. Thankfully, a front desk rep allowed us to grab $20 worth of snacks. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Good. We especially loved being able to contact the team via text! Super convenient. LOCATION/PARKING: Prime location. Parking not needed. OTHER: • Note: You can not use the Kimpton $30 spa credit as the hotel contracts out their spa services. • No pool Would I recommend/stay again? Not likely for full price if paying cash* (vs points). *Rates in October for this room seem to run $467.31 - $556.54/night on a Friday & Saturday. Although location is central, customer service is good & bed soft, the hotel is lacking in 4-star amenities, particularly for a Kimpton property.

Had to park several blocks away. They take a $150 deposit when arrive on top of your room charges. They have no provided breakfast, no pool, do not provide any privacy door hangers, no microwave in room. And my room had roaches!

This hotel is not far from Chicago's Union Station and is within walking distance. There are many fast food restaurants in the surrounding area. It is convenient transportation. Although the room is not big, it is not far from the city center.

First of all, we must explain that the security of Chicago is a big problem. Although this hotel and location are quite good, it is recommended to pay attention to safety when traveling. Try not to go out late at night without going out. I heard gunshots in the hotel one day, and it turned out to be a real gunfight between the police and the robber. The gangster injured the policeman. It happened more than a block away at 3:30 in the morning. This is not a problem of location or hotel, this is the case in Chicago. The front desk guy in the store has a very good service attitude, recommended to us and helped order the authentic Chicago deep dish pizza. very delicious. After the accident that day, we were notified in time not to go out late at night. Overall the experience is good. I lived in a bunk bunk room type. It was very comfortable to live in a bunk bunk in a hotel for the first time. Small but complete. The traffic is pretty good. Adults (over 21) can go to the bar diagonally across the street is the famous beauty service bar. We were still students and didn't go in. But the shooters bar itself is indeed very famous.
