A lovely place that could have been amazing We went for a 2-night stay and chose this place based on all fabulous pictures, the place itself, and of course also because the social causes it stands for. Indeed, it was a lovely place - good rooms, great food, clean bathrooms, lot of space to walk about, uber friendly staff, and close to local areas to explore. But, our experience was soured with the interaction with the head of the property. A lady who was never introduced nor any pleasantry exchanged. We were shocked to cold response to a simple request for change in the room as the cottage had no shade and because of the tinned roof, it was like an oven. And the request was just within half an hour after we were checked in and even before we had settled. We were ready to any answer, even a ‘No’ because we know it takes a lot to rearrange already set room allocations. But it’s how she handled the question and how it was delivered. Deliberately rude and such a tone that we felt that we should leave thevery minute. But a long drive it took to come here and prepaid reservation, made us stay back. We feel that being in a hospitality space, good words, friendly smile, and keeping an approachable environment can make a lot of difference. Nothing against the “boss lady” and not sure if she was having bad days during the days we stayed, but all the prior reviews kept ringing with us. I totally agree, this place is lovely but can be amazing if you don’t interact with the lady or she just gets a friendly tone once in a while. I am for sure, we don’t want to feel like unwelcomed guests.

My recent experience at the resort was disappointing due to extremely poor customer service from the ***ager Aparna. Basic amenities were restricted by Aparna, such as having tea in our rooms, and were instead instructed to drink only in the dining area.and staff failed to attend to our needs. The Aparna dismissive attitude towards our feedback was unacceptable. Overall, I cannot recommend this resort for a leisurely getaway with family and friends.

Our stay at Gorukana was deeply disheartening and fell far short of expectations. The ***agement, particularly the lady in charge, displayed a level of rudeness and unprofessionalism that I have never encountered in my travels. Her confrontational attitude when we inquired about certain issues, combined with a complete lack of apology, reflected a dictatorial ***agement style that is unacceptable in the hospitality industry. To start, upon our arrival on a Friday when the resort was not busy, we were given no introduction or overview of Gorukana, its facilities, or the activities available. There was a complete lack of initiative to involve us in the advertised evening or morning walks, leaving us clueless and unengaged The resort failed to provide basic amenities; for instance, we were not provided with enough blankets on our first night, leading to a great deal of discomfort. Worse still, there was no way to contact the staff for assistance later. On top of these issues, when we checked out a mere 30 minutes past the standard time and requested an additional cup of tea, instead of co****sating for their earlier mistakes, they had the audacity to charge us extra for the tea. Additionally, the resort’s claim of being an Ayurvedic and wellness center is highly questionable. They serve non-vegetarian food, which is contrary to Ayurvedic principles. The lack of Ayurvedic or wellness activities was stark; the only remotely related feature was a small garden with minimal variety. There were no signs of any Ayurvedic masseurs or even a price list for such services. Moreover, the resort seems to have a set of arbitrary rules not listed in their policy while neglecting the ones that are. Despite a stated policy against accommodating all-male groups, there were several such groups during our stay. This selective enforcement of rules adds to the confusion and frustration. In conclusion, Gorukana not only falls short in providing basic hospitality services but also fails to live up to its claims of being an Ayurvedic wellness retreat. The ***agement’s lack of regard for guest comfort, combined with the absence of promised amenities and services, makes this a place I cannot recommend to anyone seeking a genuine wellness experience.

This is an Ayurvedic center, not a resort. While the staff is friendly, there's no à la carte food available. If you're looking for a place to spend leisure time, I wouldn't recommend it. It's also relatively expensive. Despite appearances, it functions more like an Ayurvedic center than a resort.

One of the most horrible resort I have ever been to- gave 1 star as 0 was not an option here. Food- pathetic and minimal quantity served in the name of buffet Service- none provided so no complaint to make!! Bed, linen and room- not made, sheets unkept and stained Room- big but no service, tv , unmaintained attic ( this at the cost per night charged is unacceptable) Staff- non responsive, doesn't care what customers need/ want My 2cents would be if I would want to enjoy a weekend gate-away with friends, family with some peace of mind- then will not waste my money and energy on this

Pros: 1) Location of the property is nice but Jungle lodges at KGudi will offer you much better location, right inside the jungle. 2)The property is fairly well maintained. Rooms are spacious, with a very cosy attic and have big sit outs facing the jungle. You might face issues with insects but this is expected inside a jungle lodge. 3)The wellness sessions are top notch. Totally recommended if you staying in this property Cons: 1) This is an overpriced property. Not worth the money you will have to shed. At the same price, Jungle lodges at Kgudi is a much better option ( better location, 2 jungle safaris included, better maintained) 2) Food options are very limited and less in quantity. During out weekend stay, we had to face this issue twice. Imagine a situation, it is 9pm in the evening, you are hungry to the core, you have been told earlier that mutton would be served for dinner. So with all the excitement you enter the area where the food is being served and then you get a surprise!. You get to hear that the mutton is over!! And just to let all of you know, we were there well within the stipulated time for dinner. They were hardly apologetic about it. As a replacement, they served a tasteless chicken fry which they called it chicken kabab. Limited breakfast options as well. This property is a big no for the foodies. Gorukona is a wellness resort, may be that is why their focus on serving good food is very less. Overall a poor experience.

Super expensive and a complete rip-off because absolutely pathetic service (or was there any at all??) Food got over within 30mins from start of service and it never got refilled. Had to do with sambar, rasam, curd. That too very cheap quality. Note we paid 10k per night for two. Bed in attic was not made, sheets had stains. No mineral water provision. Plastic jugs and glasses looked unhygienic and dirty. Staff tried to do their best but ***agement showed attitude when these faults were brought to then and didn't bother . I have had far superior experiences in much cheaper places. Oh and did I mention that they charge full amount in advance! Stay away from this place. You will get a much better experience at Jungle lodges for same price.

We did a night's stay here, two adults and 2 teens, to fill in for a day's gap amidst a couple of family events. Checked in in the evening and checked out next day afternoon. We were there just after the first few showers post a hot summer. The location is breathtaking, with lush green cover and thick foliage. The cottage was exotic, with an upper deck for the kids which they thoroughly enjoyed. The hospitality was warm, food was great, simple yet delicious (we are vegetarians). Walking to the dining area in the darkness of night was a bit spooky, given that there could be some wild life from the nearby forest area, so we had the staff walk ***** with us with high power torches. The break of dawn again enthralled our senses with the sounds of chirping birds, aroma of the pure air and fresh earth and super scenic views. The staff from local Soliga community is humble, very polite, responsive and hospitable. We created some beautiful memories in our day's stay and the visuals of the place will remain with us for a long time. Highly recommend this place for stay. And when here, don't miss the jungle safari.
