We had our wedding in the Lord Bagenal 3 weeks ago. From the minute we went to look at the venue and book in our ceremony and reception the communication was fantastic from Sue. She was very helpful along the way if we had any queries or anything needed to be changed or added. We had an absolutely fantastic wedding day. Everything flowed so well, the room was turned around so fast between the ceremony and seating for dinner. The food was lovely as always and everyone appeared to be very happy. Those from further afield commented on it being such a lovely hotel and venue for a wedding. Niall ensures everything flows smoothly on the day and we are so thankful for his help and support and guidance throughout. He is absolutely fantastic at his job. A huge thank you to those who served us on the day also, especially Connie, they were all so fantastic too and the service was so fast and brilliant. We have fond memories to treasure of a great wedding day in The Lord Bagenal. Would highly recommend them!

We had the most lovely stay in The Lord Bagenal, our room was great, nice view of river. All staff were so professional yet extremely friendly and could not do enough for us. We ate here on 2 nights and the food was superb. Breakfast was excellent too. Overall a wonderful stay, will definitely return

One night stay here as we had been at a wedding nearby. We rang to let the hotel know, it would possibly be near midnight when we would be arriving. We had checked in online. It was midnight when we arrived, only to be welcomed by a very pleasant and helpful young man (night porter I think). This man deserves credit as most people at this hour of the night are not very friendly, so well done. I’m sorry I didn’t get his name. Our bedroom was big and spacious with a single bed and a king size bed. Very comfortable bed and hotel nice and quiet for sleeping, bottled water provided. My one crib is the bathroom, this is a 4 star hotel, bathroom looking very tired with your shower over the bath, not good enough for prices being charged. Breakfast the following morning was good with freshly cooked menu available which is not always the way.

We stayed in a suite for a special treat and we were not disappointed. So spacious and confortable, huge bed, plush sofas, large bathroom with shower and seperate bath, so luxurious. Staff at check in so helpful, bar staff so accomodating very family friendly, and the lovely ladies in the breakfast restaurant made us feel right at home and no request was too much. Have stayed before and will be back again, so handy to Carlow and lovely Kilkenny town and also beside a fantastic garden centre/restaurant and there are afew pubs to visit for a local flavour 😁

We had lunch here, very comfortable and a nice “carvery”. The carvery wasn’t just traditional food and we had nice stir fry’s and beef curry. The service was good. We will pop in again the next time we are in the area, the decor or the hotel in general was lovely

Sorry to say, but the Bagenal as it called locally is not what it was . I love the staff and the owner is a great guy however post Covid pricing is ridiculous and the menu needs updating for sure. The Bagenal has a loyal following and I was one of them. Maybe a new menu relaunch would be a great marketing idea. BTW keep the breaded ribs .

Disgraceful! We were seated at 5:30pm, ordered, received our food and then were told that they needed the table back by 7pm. Rather than ask or tell us before hadlnd , they used consistent intimidation tactics to move us. The food was medicorcre and far too expensive for what it was, mascarading as a 4 star hotel. Mr. Kehoe....€6.50 for a pint is not justifiable for what your establishment is, riding on the back of weddings and Willie Mullins. Yes...Ye are locals and you have ABSOLUTELY lost out family and friends and out influential word of mouth will dona dent on your turnover. Simply, the Lord Bagnael does not have value or quality. Feel free to reply for a sit down, explanation, apology, and we will think about it

The food was poor quality chicken was dry the catch of the day was tasteless and chips were reheated no vegetables and over all it was priced well above what I would class as poor quality food really disappointed as the hotel is nice and the service was good

We stayed at the hotel for several days and were very happy with the rooms and facilities. The staff provided wonderful, attentive and friendly service. I’d have to give special mention to the whole breakfast team especially Karen who was always prepared to go that extra mile and make my Mother in Law very comfortable. Also a big shout out to Joe and Niall who offered a wonderful welcome and finally it’s always good to see James and Paddy. Keep up the good work.
