Set in such a beautiful tranquil place in the New Forest, Burley Manor exceeded our expectations! Its picturesque front garden with deers running free, to its amazing front entrance of a stunning log burning fire enriched with a beautiful aroma in the air, topped off with a very warm cosy feeling. Could it get any better?... to then be greeted on the front desk by a kind, smiley, happy and funny lady by the name of Marylyn just made us feel at home right away. Once to our room, where its location was just perfect and easy access we entered into a very cosy bright place. The bathroom was gorgeous, its shower was grand and so relaxing and the big sink such a nice touch. Not a bad thing to say about the room... apart from we found it difficult getting out of bed in the morning as it was too comfy as we sleep so well 😀. Burley Manors breakfast, lunch and dinner was all just amazing. Huge thank you to the chefs and kitchen staff for the brilliant food. Lastly the staff were all so lovely and friendly! Keep up the amazing work. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much

Having stayed here many many times pre pandemic we were so excited about returning. Check in was good and the room lovely but the service and food quality was abysmal. We sat in the garden - tried to order drinks at the bar and told it was table service only which is fine if someone took your order! Went into the bar and relied to order 2 drinks with a waitress who said she would have to come to our table for me to order - will give her her due she did follo me to our table! Waited 15 for the drinks. Then ordered our food A rib eye steak and fillet of sea bass with a prawn and clam chowder. This arrived after 10 minutes - the sea bass was completely different from the menu description- apparently we had been given the wrong specials menu so what else did my husband want. He said he would have the original offering as we had been travelling all day and were tired - this was then returned stone cold! My 8oz rib eye steak had at least 45% sinew and was inedible.when the staff came to clear the table I requested a manager - a young lad turned up who just said I see what you mean!! Nothing or no one else seemed to care so we went to bed extremely upset and at a cost of nearly £200 a night we really expected a more professional approach to customers- whilst I appreciate uni students need summer jobs but when there is no one at all supervising the result is dire for a business such as this. We even listened to 2 staff members discussing their uni accommodation etc etc when at least 8 tables were waiting to be served. Breakfast service was totally different- the staff clearly knew what they were doing and did si in an efficient, help, and more importantly, friendly way. Would recommend you go out of school/ uni holidays as no one else is around to ensure the job is done professionally.

What can I say about our stay at the Rhinefield Hotel? Absolutely outstanding. My partner booked an overnight stay in the Walker Suite (Bridal Suite) for my 30th Birthday and we lived like Kings & Queens! On arrival we were greeted by Harry at the door who checked us in and carried our bags to our room, as well as a history tour of the hotel. So friendly & welcoming. The hotel decor is beautiful, the attention to detail is second to none and the staff are so attentive and thoughtful. We were offered complimentary champagne, prosecco & other drinks and snacks which was a lovely touch. I also had a 55 minute full body massage which was definitely needed and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My only criticism is that there was very few chairs in the pool area to use when it was busy. The menu tasting experience at dinner was delicious and we had a very friendly and knowledgeable waiter (Jeremy) who made our evening even better. The morning after we were welcomed with a stunning breakfast delivered to our room by Jeremy. We left our order hung on our door the night before and there was so much choice. We opted for the full English breakfast, pastries & fresh orange juice. Jeremy called our room phone to let us know our breakfast was on its way to us which was great. 10/10 - delicious! What a treat to tuck into our food overlooking the hotel gardens. I can’t recommend this hotel enough. Such a special way to celebrate turning 30 and I will most definitely be back. Where to start! Room was tiny and damp! Extractor in toilet not working! Staff slow. Food was below average. I asked for Chicken Tikka Masala, was told I had to have chips with it, as they had no Rice. My nephew had Mixed Grill, was the mankiest Piece of Chicken included. I’m Coeliac and enquired before booking about their ability to produce a Gluten Free meal and was told no problem. For breakfast all they did was exclude the Gluten containing items. I got two pieces of burnt Gluten Free bread, no butter. There was no cutlery, and I hunted out some for my fellow guests. Our table wasn’t cleared, not even when a second coffee arrived. Was just plopped down among the used items. And an hour or so later I passed the window and the table still wasn’t cleared. We were asked on booking-in what time we would like breakfast. We said 8am. Second morning we couldn’t gain access to the main building (we had been housed in what they called the ‘Annexe’) A guest staying in the main building let us in, but no sign of staff, everywhere was locked. She had booked 8.30. I tried to contact Marstons without success, apparently they don’t work weekends. Eventually a young lady arrived to start work and dismissed our complaints with the statement “we were busy last night, so we struggled to open on time” My breakfast this morning gained a Gluten containing sausage, as did Sunday’s, I removed the sausage and hoped no cross contamination had occurred. The whole place is dingy, run-down and in need of full restoration. Outside areas, including car park, dirty and rubbish strewn. Smoking takes place just outside main door, where you have to fight your way through the crowd of smokers, this included the staff as well. An old fire bucket was provided for butts, this hadn’t been emptied in a long time, was full and spilling onto the pavement. I remember this Hotel at its best, is the complete opposite now. Bar staff were poorly trained, I asked for an Orange Juice and Lemonade, I had to explain how she was to achieve this. She struggled with the till and had to seek help. Tea making facilities were included: except we didn’t have a kettle. I obtained one from reception, which hadn’t been cleaned or descaled. I cleaned it. Not even a teaspoon was provided. No bin in bathroom, no loo brush. Extremely cheap toilet paper. Sink emptied before finishing washing. Shower dripping. Bin in room had no bin bag, and was filthy. Room was tiny, a single at best with twin beds in. The towels and bed linen were clean and of reasonable quality. Duvet very efficient. My mattress was past its best, as many had sat on the edge to watch the TV.

Well, the service at the hotel was excellent too. The hotel staff were always very friendly and helpful, they were always willing to answer my questions and provide useful advice. Also, the breakfast provided by the hotel was very delicious, varied and had different choices every day. The service at the restaurant is also very good, and the staff is always very thoughtful and welcoming. The only downside is that the hotel is slightly more expensive, but I think the price is still very reasonable given the location and quality of service of the hotel. In short, I really like this hotel and I would definitely choose to stay again if I travel to this city again.
