Many of Beirut's ”golden age” hotels have disappeared after the war and it is wonderful to see Phoenicia evolve with the times while commemorating its glorious history. You can easily spend your entire vacation on the Phoenician track, there are several restaurants here (actually only the buffet at this hotel I think is very good), a nice scene of a small pool, excellent people watching in the lobby (during my stay, including the arrival of the Swiss president, wife, and accompanying staff). When you need to change the environment, St George's pool is a short walk across the street from the seaside park. It is definitely a great stay in Beirut.

The Markazia suites are billed as 5 star but it would be lucky to get a 3 star in most countries so let's begin. When arriving with heavy luggage the door staff just watched and didn't even open the door There is only one restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a small bar attached to it The breakfasts are poor - the selection is limited and the coffee dreadful Rooms are faded and old fashioned - my carpet had stains and was thin. The bath room was cramped, the toilet seat came off once and the sliding doors of the bathroom kept getting stuck The suites had a ring for cooking but no utensils.... it just goes on. The facilities are just simply inadequate reception staff were pleasant but this is a really poor experience. Avoid there are much better places at the same price.

I had the pleasure of staying in Saifi Suites for nearly three weeks to prepare for a medical conference in Beirut. This hotel is truly wonderful. The rooms are clean, very spacious and well-equipped, as well as quiet. The WiFi is speedy and consistent (which is a rarity in Beirut!). Housekeeping is completed to a high standard. I ordered room service on occasion and the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. The hotel is brilliantly located and if, like me, you prefer to walk, you are within a few minutes of downtown Beirut and only a little further for Zaitunay Bay, Hamra, etc. The airport is also only a 15-minute drive. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and answered my various questions on how to get around the city on my first visit. In particular, the guys and girls working in reception are honestly great. All in all, I would happily recommend Saifi Suites and would be glad to stay again.

I stayed in a junior suite which was very cute and cozy. The only downside to the hotel is the lack of breakfast or dining options. However, it is located in a very good part of downtown barely 10 minutes walk from Zaitunay Bay which houses several cafes and restaurants. It is also a walking distance from many restaurants, the marina and pubs. Staff were very nice and welcoming. They helped me order dinner twice.

Benefits: The hotel room is large with a small balcony, the sea view is great, and the breakfast can be seen on the top floor. Disadvantages: 1. Book one month in advance and write an email to the hotel to book the airport pick-up service. After the arrival, I can't find the car. After I went to the hotel, I asked if I didn't even apologize. I said, ”Oh, the colleague who may have promised you forgot. ”. 2. The hotel is not allowed to bring water and food, and no kettle is provided. You can only drink mineral water from the small bar in the room. The cheapest one is a 2000LL bottle. 3. The hotel buffet breakfast is from 6 am to 11 am, but it is basically cold cuts, there is almost no hot food, and there are not many styles. 4. There is a seafood restaurant opposite the hotel, which will be open to the public. At 8/9 in the evening, the music was loud and loud until the early hours of the morning. The music and the crowd cheered only louder and louder, and could not sleep at all. 5. At 9 o'clock in the morning, I heard that the upstairs began to knock and beat the drill wall and was woken up in the repair. Summary: The biggest advantage of the hotel is that the room is large, the location is very good, there is a small balcony with sea view, but the price is that the toilet is small and pitiful... smaller than the hotels in Japan. Newly decorated hotel with spacious rooms and great staff. 24 hour entrance with daily room cleaning - they also offer super cheap laundry service (I haven’t used it however). My apartment had a balcony with a street view and was great to watch local people getting on with their lives and interacting with each other. The queen bed was really comfy and the lil fridge did it’s job well. The bathroom is shower only and there’s also AC in the room. The location has a real Middle East feel to it so no fancy buildings or parks etc. but I think this makes it more special. There is a lil supermarket just outside and has basic stuff which is open till late. The main high street is 2 mins walk where you can have quick Lebanese bites that are super cheap and delicious - there’s also a bigger supermarket with great fruit/veg. The only letdown was the WiFi - it was in range but was a bit slow, OK for browsing though. Overall very pleased and would visit again.
