We went to this property for my birthday and brought alone my 4 year old son. The property is large and you would think there were golf carts to take you and your belongings to the room but no.We had to walk in the beaming sun for 10 mins to our room and then waited an additional 30 for our bag. The bathroom was an open concept and had 2 sinks. One of which was broken and leaked every time we used it. When we would turn on the water it smelled like sewage and the drain in the bath tub was draining very slowly. The walls had mold and chipped paint and there were no amenities like toothbrushes, wash rags, shampoo, lotion, conditioner etc. There was one random dispenser in the bathtub. As for the restaurants it was first come first serve. We tried to get into the Mexican one but they said they were not taking anymore people after 800pm. We ended up eating at the buffet which only had fish, calamari and roasted duck as animal protein. He next day we finally were able to get into the steak house and where rushed. The last day we went to the Mexican and finally got a table. We walk in to find out it is more or a buffet style service where you plate you own food and then they bring out 1 of the three options on the menu which I could I have put together with the items in the buffet. I ordered fajitas and as a tortilla was served ONE that was cold and folded into four sections like a triangle.I do not require much to enjoy myself, this is the worse resort I have been too. DONT GO!

the food could be better. i love fish, but this stay I can eat any of the fish menu. I was looking forward to the ceviches and any fish servings , but it was too fishy , lacking lemon or lime and cilantro….I felt bad for the dish to just go to waste…

Enjoyed our week at the resort and found the pool areas to be excellent, food was above average however will not travel on spring break week again . The property was overrun with loud, disrespectful college kids . Made it hard to sleep at night with parties at the pool outside of our room every night. The A/C in our room also super loud and towels very old and scratchy. Ocean and beach very clean .

We just returned from a spring break trip with our family, four kids ages 7-14. We stayed at the Bambu while some friends stayed at the Palace Punta Cana. The short walk between properties show a very different vibe and ambience. Riu Bambu is the PARTY hotel. It was described as family friendly, but i would not stay here again with young kids. Our rooms were in the far end of property, near the Riu Party area and it was loud. Drunk college kids yelling outside and in the hallways until 1 am, sometimes until 3 am, EVERY night.
The food was pretty good for an all inclusive, a few options for restaurants with menus, and two buffets which had a huge variety to offer the kids. The pools were great too, large enough that it didn't feel crowded, despite the large number of spring breakers.
The beach is beautiful. We walked the beach in both directions for over a mile, and Riu definitely has some of the nicest beach front areas. There are plenty of chairs, both at the beach and the pool...you don't have to get up at 6 am to save chairs just so you have one. I would stay at the RIU again, but probably not at the Bambu with my family.

My stay was horrible. Manager stated he would give me a refund upon checkout and was not around at the time of checkout. There were roaches inside restaurant, I was attacked by an intoxicated quest in the lobby and our toilet flooded our room 4 times before they switched our room.

Property is massive not a bad thing but being so big food was not available after hours just cold sandwiches. Rooms smell like humidity and the air conditioning did not cool room all the time. Reception does not answer after hours super hard to get in touch if anything is needed.

Overall the trip was wonderful beautiful beach and views, but I do recommend that they should have longer food services for the guests. Buffets and restaurants stop serving food at 10pm not even snacks was issued after hours, the sandwiches that were issued one night were first come first serve and of course people were grabbing handfuls and there were out fast.
The sports bars is open 24hrs serving drinks but again no food!! Having no food is a big issue! Bring plenty of snacks!!
