Hotels near Kids Park, Baku

I don’t normally take the time to review places but considering that they market themselves as a 5 star hotel I want to make sure other people considering this hotel know what to expect at least. For context We stayed in this hotel for a week as a family (2 kids) in a connecting family room. First off when we arrived and checked in, the guy at reception said they would check our documents and to please wait in their restaurant. We ordered some drinks and waited. Meanwhile suddenly they start blasting Indian music so loud in the restaurant (it was only us and another family there) that we had to go ask them if they could please turn it back down again. I don’t know for who or why they put the music on so loud. This also happened when we ate breakfast one morning. After maybe 20 minutes we went to ask reception how check in was going and were only told that “they were checking”. We decided to go and get some late lunch since we didn’t know how long we needed to wait for them to “check” whatever they were checking. If the room wasn’t ready, it wouldn’t have been a problem if they simply said so and gave us a time frame for when it would be ready. But this was a taste of the service to come unfortunately. We had a connecting family room that had one bathroom to share. The master bedroom had only a window which was a small and by the ceiling facing out into the hallway (so no external window) which meant it was like sleeping with lights on all night as the hallway light were always on. In this case perhaps a curtain for that window would be good or installing sensor lights in the hallway so the light isn’t on unless someone is there. The rooms were SO warm and when we went to check about the air conditioning they told us it wasn’t working or they didn’t have it. (Not sure which was the correct answer) They couldn’t give us a straight answer. They told us the heating had been on the night before but that they had now switched it off and allowed for “air” instead. So whatever control you have in your room is basically useless. When we asked if they could allow for the air conditioning to be turned on they just told us they would sort it out but nothing got done. We had to sleep with the only external window open during the night so at least our kids could be more comfortable. Other important things to note - we got 2 towels for 4 people. We asked them to bring 2 more which wasn’t done. Only when we saw a cleaner outside in the hallway one evening (3 nights into our stay) did we get 2 more. - there was no cleaning the whole week. We asked for more water, asked if someone would come to at least remove the garbage and they told us they would send someone but never did. - as shown in the photos, one of the single beds was broken underneath. - several sheets/duvet covers were broken, one example shown in the photos. - there was cigarette burns on the double bed headboard despite it being a non-smoking room. Our stay at the Holiday Inn Baku was very comfortable.The Staff was warm and helpful. The Location is excellent. The Breakfast was sumptuous and the timings relaxed. One member of the Staff at breakfast took it on himself to remind us to come early, everyday. On a lighter note ! No complaints, we were always served well. The Rooms are large and well appointed, it was important for us as it was an 8 days stay. I would strongly recommend this Hotel for Stay in Baku.

Good environment, good service attitude and nice scenery

Walking 🚶♂️ 🚶♀️ distance from the airport, just walk directly to the hotel, you will see right infront of you. Quickly Bypass the Taxi Hawking parking lot into the path in the trees leading into the only building the Hotel, Walk through the beautiful Rosa Damascena, pass your hands on the fragrant Rosemary planted next to it The Hotel interior is beautiful and clean, the Staff give a good impression of how friendly Azerbaijani folks can be, from the Receptionist girl that checks you in, to the Door staff. The rooms will have more drinking water as I was dehydrated after the flight and the water was gone in seconds. Talked to the staff they said they will immediately start adding more bottles of drinking water to all hotel rooms, they did so as they showed me they have a whole storage room full of drinking water bottles. Breakfast was very nice, Breakfast Waiters were extremely helpful. Night Bar/Restaurant also nice, a very patient waiter went through all their Menu on phone then he went through the whole menu again in person, until he saw I was satisfied with my choices. I really liked this hotel. Dusty and friendly staff, good comfortable rooms. Well enough food-we bought a accommodation with breakfasts. Colbs, cheese, eggs, sausages, eggs, vegetables. Give fruits: apples, pears and mandarins. Serves several kinds of juices, tea, coffee. There is a spa center at the hotel, I liked the Ham and the Finnish sauna with a pool is free for guests. The hotel is not in the heart of the city, but there is Nizami Metro Station next door, or you can get to a taxi, it is cheap in the city. We used the Uber. Near there is a supermarket Grandmart, a network of Bravo stores. And if you go a little down the road, you can go to the Zaura cafe, the only place I think where you can eat hot and soup at a cheap price. An important moment when you pay for your stay - if you pay on the spot, only take dollars and manats. I highly recommend this hotel, here is created everything for a comfortable rest!

It can be said that Baku is the most cost-effective international hotel, from the front desk to the room service are very intimate. As for the room size, it is a hotel near the old town. In addition, if it is from the airport, it is recommended to book a taxi from the hotel, the price is conscience, much better than looking for a car.

I stayed at a corner suite with incredible view of city and sea. Hotel has several restaurants, bars and a spa. One thing is missing at this hotel which is service level. Im not completely sure if its locals attitude or training but most employees need serious work to match the hotel status. Front Desk in general are the most well trained team, however I went to the main restaurant once and it was horrible from the receptionist to the working team. Another disaster team serves at Bar19. Hostess nor bartender had no clue what screw driver cocktail was and didn’t bother to even google it!!! Bar team seamed completely clueless and lost. Spa receptionist is very unprofessional she just wants you to cancel instead of selling packages! Hotel itself is iconic property but it lacks vibe and class. I hope it will only gets better next time I visit Baku.

The hotel is very clean. I like the makeup mirror in the bathroom. The toiletries have a nice scent. The front desk service is very friendly. It is not far from Central Park, but I couldn't find a gym or swimming pool. In short, it is a very trustworthy hotel and you can book it with confidence.

First of all, I want to say that it was the second time we came to Azerbaijan, and it was the first time we stayed at the Qafagaz Baku City hotel. The lighting of the hotel was beautiful and, most importantly, the staff was very attentive. The night manager named Elfan was most interested in us, even when we had breakfast, he came to us and asked if we needed anything. We hope that Elfan will be there when he comes to Azerbaijan in the new year. Qafqaz Baku City see you soon
