Backworth - Alexander Apartments

I was stunned I received an opportunity to leave a review - I booked and paid for this place last November. I tried to contact them a few days before and received no reply, my Son eventually got them on the phone and they said everything was fine they would give check-in details on the day of arrival. I was half way down from Scotland to go to the Springsteen concert that I received a Whatsapp message to tell me the accommodation wasn't available but not to worry they would find a place in the region. Whilst continuously trying to contact them and keep heading down I received a further message to say sorry they had nothing else available but they would as a gesture of good will give me £50 to put towards a future stay, are you kidding me. 4 hours at a service station I eventually found somewhere to stay.....whether I'll get my money back remains to be seen.....book with this company at your pearl!!!! P.S I have not managed to contact them since and doubt I ever will....

Clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Good location. Will return if in the area again.

The village of Backworth is lovely - very easy to access places including Whitley Bay and the coast. The 'Luxury Apartment' is actually an ex-council house. Good things: It was clean; Good wifi connection; Good tv; Reasonably priced. Poor things: No light bulbs in hallway or living room; Hard flooring so easy to keep clean but no sweeping brush so couldn't; Kitchen - no table despite plenty of room for one, but 2 chairs. Half of kitchen ceiling missing and it leaked from the bathroom; Crockery - 3 glasses, 3 (dirty) mugs, 5 dinner plates, 2 side plates, 6 bowls - overall inadequate; Cutlery - enough for 5 people only; No frying pan or sharp knives; Sitting room - the corner sofa is the only sitting space - could squeeze 4 on there if you wanted to be cosy; Don't be fooled by photos, 1 hand towel between 5 people (!); Beds - double in front bedroom made up (headboard hanging off), double and single bed in back bedroom made up, 1 single in box room not made up and no bedding) - inadequate for family of 2 adults and 3 children; Garden like a nuclear wasteland and advertised garden furniture was a rusty table.
