Coco-Mat Athens Jumelle

Kolonaki Athens|0.78km from National Gallery
Coco-Mat became famous for the mattresses and natural products they create and staying in one of their hotels makes you understand why. + First off, the attention to detail is really something, the cleanliness and the fact that most of the items in the room as well as in the entire hotel, are made from natural materials (as most of them are sold by the company this makes sense, but they also collaborate with like-minded vendors, like the one of the hangers for instance - see photo). Even the room's ceiling was beautiful! I loved the ambience, the lobby was very cosy and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The neighborhood is one of the best in Athens, 500m. from the closest metro station and the Cycladic & Byzantin Museums are right around the corner. I didn't get a chance to taste the menu at the restaurant, but all looked delicious - hopefully next time! Also, in terms of cleanliness 10/10 for me, regarding the room as well as all public spaces. I'd like to save the best for last: THE bed. It was one of the best sleeps I've had in my entire life and it really exceeded my expectations! It is undoubtedly the most comfortable matress I've slept on and even though I have a chronic back pain, I did not feel any discomfort whatsoever. Sooo worth it! Ps. 1. small detail but worth mentioning: the breakfast plates are gorgeous - kudos to whomever chose them!! (see photo) Ps. 2. the breakfast was delicious with many savory and sweet options to choose from :-) Ps. 3. Comp mini-bar with refreshments was a great gesture! - There were 2 things that unfortunately did not lived up to my standards. First and foremost, personnel: I found it strange that while, during c/i, the FO associate tried to show me around and escort me to my room, a cleaning lady was in between and did not move nor greeted/acknowledged us. During breakfast: the personnel, although very polite, was often absent, leading a few of the guests searching/waiting for them. It wasn't quite clear what we were supposed to do, mostly regarding covid regulations: when I sat to my table, they brought placemats etc. but did not explain how it works - if it is self-service, what are the à la carte choices, etc. When I decided to stand up and walk towards the food station, they explained I needed to wear gloves before self-serving, but nothing about where to throw them afterwards - and I looked for a bin but didn't find one. Another guest walked in after me and as there was no staff around, he did not wear gloves-again no clearly-mentioned rules. At some point I asked for juice and the woman who delivered it (again, very polite) did not seem to be staff, judging from her outfit (I'm not sure if she had just finished her shift and did it as a favor to another colleague or if she even worked there at all..). On the same subject I found the staff in general a bit too informal for what I was expecting, but maybe that's just me. Secondly and minor but still: there was a bluetooth speaker in the room and alt

Holiday Suites

Kolonaki Athens|0.29km from National Gallery
My family and I stayed at the Holiday Suites for about 10 days during the Christmas period of December 2021. One of the cleaning staff most likely forgot to empty the bathroom bin, and therefore my wife informed the front desk. After 5 minutes of informing the front desk, the cleaning maid knocked on the door and indicated she will remove the bathroom bin of the litter. Upon leaving the room instead of politely apologizing, she was very rude and stated, ”Well, these kinds of things happen.” Next, while eating breakfast, the lady at the breakfast buffet suddenly took our plates even before we had finished eating. She was a bit rude about taking the plates. Bear in mind that the hotel charges for the water and any snacks in the kitchen or fridge so DO NOT eat drink the water nor snacks if you don't want to be charged an astronomical amount such as 2.50 euros for a small bottle of water (20 cents at the grocery store). There was NO sign or anyone who told us that we would be charged. In my opinion, since water is a basic necessity, it should be free for guests as it costs next to nothing to purchase as well and it's a bit tacky charging someone for a bottle of water. Therefore, I highly recommend that you get any water or snacks from corner deli which is 100% cheaper. Next, the hotel advertises the place as pet friendly, BUT there were NO pet related material in the room and NOT even a bowl for my Jack Russell terrier to drink. On the positive side, the hotel is modern and conveniently located 2 blocks from the metro station. Moreover, the hotel is on a street free of traffic, which makes it a quiet place to stay. The suites are fully renovated and spacious as well. In general most of the staff are detached from the guests and don't offer a warm smile except for one of the front desk clerks, Constantina who greeted us with warmth.

Location is great for multi purposes. Lots of food and coffee shops around . Walking distance to art, music and history places. Great for visits to Evaggelismos hospital. Need upgrade the hair dryer and the fridge also needs to be programmed to be a bit cooler than it is. Clean but the bathroom floor needed a bit more effort (!) - the hose of the hair dryer too, Towels smelled strongly of disinfectant , made you feel safe but not pleasant. Neutral breakfast, basic actually, not for picky eaters but satisfying a hungry stomach. Tv was not offering movies' rental. Wi fi really good for streaming. Helpful staff both front desk , dinning room attendants and handyman/housekeeping. Great touch the sage from Crete at the coffee tray. Toiletries offered a body balm - not bad at all

A new hotel in the heart of Kolonaki, Athens' well-to-do district, the Modernist is a great blend of amenities and service. The hotel opened the week I visited and I expected there to be a few kinks to work out, but there were none! Service is wonderful, staff proactively asked what we needed, from carafes of sparkling water that they brought to the room on request any time of day, to laundry and other things. They also were very keen to know how they were doing, considering they were new. Breakfast is delightful, with a a creative mix of traditional Greek things and other international food. COVID setup is hygienic and efficient. We had a large room, which is not particularly large but has spectacular balconies overlooking the park across the street and with views of Lycabettus Hill. Windows are isolated and do a good job of keeping out the Athenian noise. Finally, the upstairs roof deck is a real delight, quiet, private, with a fantastic view of the Acropolis, and with a telephone to order drinks from downstairs. It's like being at the Hilton Bar across the street, but not paying 20 euros for cocktails. All told, a great start and a wonderful find, I wish the staff all the best of luck!

We stayed here for almost a week, with two rooms for my wife, myself, my baby daughter and my mother in law. The hotel has some nice points and some points which I think need improving. The staff were all fine, and well trained as you should expect for the price. The rooms were a little small for 200-240 euro per room per night. The bathroom was the worst of you are large like me (194cm tall medium build). Standing in the shower one elbow was touching one side and other elbow was touching other wall, the toilet was temperamental and you could see it needs refurbishment in some parts. The shower gel was a little unpleasant too but soap was nice. They charge 5 or 6 euro for a bottle of water on room service which I found insane. The lobby is very big but strangely empty. For the good the room was ok, the staff again, food was fine, parking was easy (which in greek cities can be rare) and mattress was comfortable. However I think we will try a different hotel next time as I didn’t feel the price reflected the hotel.

Was so happy to experience this facility in Greece. Wonderful people and excellent service. Will visit again if we get to go back to Greece. Our room was spacious and clean and daily service was available, a service that is so rare while traveling.
