If you want to immerse yourself in the Teide region, the Parador is the right place for you. Staff a bit stiff, but you quickly forget that when you're having breakfast with your nose almost against the Teide :-) Very extensive breakfast with all the trimmings (savory and sweet) and with half board you get a 3-course menu every evening. You can choose anything from the menu and the portions are huge. There is a closed parking lot and various walks depart from the Parador. Next to the Parador is a cafe/bar Los Roques where you can enjoy the sun on the terrace when the weather is nice. Again with a fantastic view!

If you're a wheelchair user, please make sure to let the hotel know with plenty of notice. I use a wheelchair that doesn't fold and I couldn't get into my room without taking the wheels off as there's a wardrobe immediately as you enter the room. Fortunately, I am able to walk and only use my chair for longer distances.l, but for others, this could be a real issue. We stayed in that room for one night and they were happy enough to swap me into a different room in the morning. That first night was awful. There were concerning dips in the floor and the noise from being next to the ocean was so loud, plus the wind rattles the windows, it sounded like I was lost at sea. The receptionist was lovely and upgraded us to a family room, no issues, though I hope for the sake of others that there are double rooms available that are more accessible, not just family rooms. The family room was luckily on the other side, so it was totally silent. The breakfasts were quite stale and the milk for the cereal was warm so stuck with the crepes every morning. We did have dinner here one evening but unfortunately, when I got to the dessert stand, there was a cockroach crawling on the food. They were very apologetic and gave both of us a glass of wine as an apology, but then still had to pay full price on the meals. Fortunately, we did bring an extension cord as there weren't many sockets and not all of them even worked. There were no ceiling lights, just plug in lamps, which made it quite dim at night. The pool is barely heated but it takes a few seconds for your body to acclimatise. The mattress is quite firm and I found the pillows were far too high. Also beware that the hotel is on a VERY steep hill. Luckily, I can actually walk quite well in hot weather but I was definitely out of breath when I got from the bottom of the hill to the hotel. The WiFi is awful and I ended up just using my data. The zoo is well worth visiting though and it's a very short distance away. As you come into the hotel, it's got a huge lovely lobby which was lovely to sit in, so it really surprised me how poor everything else was. I have no ill intentions and the staff were lovely but I have to be honest.

This hotel was a huge disappointment. For the price we paid, I would definitely go somewhere else. I booked a room for myself and two kids (16 and 11) on a booking platform that described the room as suitable for three people, with a maximum of two adults. I assumed it would be a double or twin room with an extra bed for a child. However, when we arrived to check-in in the evening, they told us they had no record of three guests, only two adults, and that we could not stay in the room we had selected. They gave us a bigger apartment and asked me to come to the front desk the next morning to resolve the situation. I must say that the gentleman at the front desk during the evening shift was sincerely apologetic and showed empathy. However, the front desk man in the morning was a completely different story. He was rude and arrogant, and I've never experienced such poor hospitality. He showed no acknowledgement of their incorrect advertisement. They claimed that the room we selected was only suitable for two adults, with a maximum of one two-year-old child. I took the time to search through several different platforms where this ”family-friendly” hotel was listed, and on all of them, it stated that children up to the age of 13 were free of charge. However, in our case, we were asked to pay extra for our 11-year-old, which amounted to a 50% increase in the original price. With poor English skills, the only argument they had was several times ”It's not my problem. You pay now or leave!” - without getting back any money for the rest of the nights, of course. In the end, we paid the price and were reimbursed by the booking platform afterward, although I'm quite certain it was the hotel's fault. Mistakes do happen, but the rudeness and poor attitude of the staff were unacceptable. I don't see the hotel as family-friendly, friendly, or even polite at all. As for the hotel itself, the amenities were quite old, as evidenced by the condition of the rooms, restaurant, and outdoors. The pool was literally colder than the ocean, and nobody could stay in it for more than five minutes. For the original price, I would say it's about average, but after the 50% increase we paid, the hotel is way below average, and I would rather find a better hotel in a better location. To top it off, when we were leaving breakfast, one lady working in the restaurant got hysterical about our 11-year-old taking an APPLE from the breakfast buffet - how silly and rude reaction, especially to a kid.

Good 4x-star hotel. The rooms have a new renovation, a big balcony, if lucky, will have a view of the city rather than the nearby hotel. A magnificent breakfast is a Swedish table. Location: far from the beaches but close to the bus station.

Apartment is very comfortable room, with balcony and table, indoor table, all kitchen comfort. Family is done almost every day. Very clean, very friendly staff, including at the reception.
We were next to the restaurant on the floor, so a little noise in the evening, but next to enjoy the animations. The residence is well placed to walk in the city, car parked outside at a maximum of 5 minutes in adjacent streets.
the staff explains how to go there ...
Very happy with our stay.

What fantastic apartments, ours was a standard , which was huge. With a large balcony overlooking playa de las Roques. Traditional Spanish style, with an AEG oven and hob and full size fridge freezer. Oh and 5 piece Roca bathroom . The staff are really friendly and helpful. It was very quiet, I would guess it was about a third full. The gardens have lots of plants and trees, there is a fish pond, a terrapin pond, and a good size Cesar Manrique inspired swimming pool . Being built onto the cliffs there are some steps down to the apartments, there is a lift from the reception area though. It is a bit tricky to find, The roads are narrow and very steep, with a lot of one ways, drive carefully ! The town of Toscal has plenty of restaurants and bars, it is very much a Spanish area, don't expect English Pub or anything like that. It is a little cooler on this side of the island, but still sunbathing in October. This is an excellent location for exploring this side of the island, The town of La Orotava , The Anaga Mountains and of course mount Teide. The capital Santa Cruz is great to walk round, lots going on, lovely. We went on Sundays, less traffic and easier to park. I would say, you really need a car. Focus absolutely on the road, road markings and speed limits. Learning a little Spanish would really help, this is not a British tourist area. Would we go again ? Yes absolutely it was a great holiday !

Just spent a week at this hotel and had a fabulous and very relaxing time. Staff are all friendly, particularly the staff on reception and a nice cold fruit drink we were given when we were checking in was very welcome after a long journey. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the hotel rooms are lovely with a huge double bed and lovely rainfall shower. There are fantastic views of the Atlantic below the hotel from the balcony. Housekeeping were great – the towels were changed every day and I think the sheets were changed at least once during the week. There is a microwave but no crockery or cutlery so you couldn’t really cook anything in it. There is a kettle but no tea or coffee. There were plenty of sunbeds around the hotel all day as they are not allowed to be reserved. You have to hire a towel from reception to use at the pool for €10 each which is returned when you leave. If you want your towel to be changed, it cost €1. The spa is definitely worth a visit. It is €15 per person for two hours and as a great thing to do especially on a cloudy day! There was a floatation room, sauna, jacuzzi, steam room and more. There are also a large variety of treatments available at a reasonable cost. The hotel kindly let us use the showers in the spa on our last day to freshen up before going to the airport which was great and saved us €40 which it would have cost us for a late checkout. There are some shops and a few restaurants around the hotel, although we didn’t go to any of them, but they seem to be quite lively in the evenings. There is also a good supermarket a few minutes walk away which is great for getting drinks, water, snacks etc. The rooftop bar, Vertigo, is lovely and the food at lunchtime is great. The rooftop Jacuzzis are good too with an amazing view, however although there are plenty of sunbeds, there is no shade or sun umbrellas around the jacuzzis which unfortunately meant I couldn’t lie there as I can’t lie in the sun for too long! The food in the restaurant is great – properly the best we’ve had on a half board basis. The breakfast had everything you can imagine and would ever want for breakfast including sparkling wine which was no extra cost. They cooked omelettes to order, which were delicious. Food in the evening was good too. There was something for everyone, and you could choose your own steak, chicken, pork or fish and the chef will cook it in front of you. There were loads of salads, vegetables, pasta and pizza. The desserts are great too and there was also an ice cream fridge so you could help yourself to mini Viennettas, cornettos and choc ices. Puerto de la Cruz is lovely and fairly quick and easy to get to using the Agatha Christie stairs near the hotel, although we got a taxi back up which cost between €5 and €6 – worth every penny if you don’t like walking up stairs! Overall we had a great holiday and would stay here again.

We knew, that we would get, what we paid for, so we were prepared to compensate for the lack of necessities. We brought our own kettle, coffee grinder, and pot, and a few other useful kitchen appliances. Bought a frying pan and a sharp knife, and was now prepared to make our own food for our 2 weeks stay. WHEN the stove was working. Every other time the HFI relay was cutting off power, when the stove was turned on, we had to be very ingenious finding solutions to make it work. We tried to ask for a repair but were told that the problem was moist. But no. It was clearly at bad connection. The beds could be better, but they were ok. It would have been nice, if they were the same height, but again……….. we found a solution. The terrace was a reel gem, and we used it fare more than the room. The pool on the roof is nice and not crowded, and the view is fantastic. The location in the middle of the old town is priceless. Yes, the hotel is old, and not very well maintained, but the walls were newly painted. The bathroom was clean. The water hot and with enough pressure. Our conclusion must be that the only (and very) annoying experience was the loud couple next door coming home between 2 and 5 every night, yelling, screaming, banging doors and furniture for an hour or more. Luckily it happened only for the last 4 nights. We will definitely return.

GGuest UserEverything corresponds to the description and photographs, clean, cozy, friendly staff, nearby there is a store, a kiosk with excursions, a bus station, a beach (waves, always a red flag), you can walk to the city beach with swimming pools, the nature is very beautiful, everything is super.
My boyfriend and I were on our first holiday together. We would be staying at Pez Azul for 11 days. We arrived on the 29th of July. Entering the hotel was nice. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. We quickly got to go to our room. When we got our first room, we were welcomed by a weird smell. We searched the room for an ashtray or something that could cause this smell. Eventually we opened the window, in hopes the smell would get better. We went to the city centre, which was like a 5 minute walk from the hotel. This was lovely. I noticed that when we got back from the city centre, my nose was stuffed, I had a persistent cough and experienced difficulty breathing. My boyfriend had the same symptoms the day after. Walking up the stairs became an inconvenience, where he ran out of breath easily. This is raised questions, as he is an athlete. However, the second night, my boyfriend took a shower. He noticed black mold on the ventilation shafts and on the ceiling in the bathroom. This immediately explained the smell in the room. We checked the rest of the room, where we also found spots of black mold. The black mold was everywhere in the bathroom and even above our bed. Of course we wanted to leave this room as soon as possible. We went to the reception and explained the situation. Staff helped us out immediately. That night we slept in an other room. Entering that room, the smell was better. We checked this room on black mold too. Turned out that in this room, the ventilation shafts contained black mold as well. It was a lot less compared to our old room, but since the black mold was in the ventilation shafts, this probably meant it was through out the whole hotel. The next morning we went to the reception again. We yet got another room. In this room, the assumption was confirmed again. We checked the room. The smell was very good, except the black mold was still in the ventilation shafts. We did see that the cleaners probably tried to clean the shafts, but it was still in there. The shafts are directly above the shower, so when you take a shower, it’s a matter of time when the mold grows back. Note that all three rooms were on different floors. Also note that the pictures we took, are over 3 rooms. Bottom line: the service was great. The staff really tried to help us and offer us a solution. However the problem is through out the whole hotel. This caused us to eventually switch to an Airbnb in the neighborhood. We did get a refund of the nights we didn’t use the hotel. We really hope the hotel owner is going to contact an experienced mold cleaning service as the situation now provokes serious health risks, especially to people with sensitive airways or conditions like asthma. It’s a pity that a hotel with such great staff and great location is practically impossible to enjoy purely because of this problem. Please fix this!
