MetroCentre Hotel

Booked this hotel through agoda. And reason why i use these booking platforms is because i can see the pictures of my desired room. Instead of calling them and booking directly to them. When we arrived, though they allowed us to check in at 12nn, they have given us an entirely different room from the one in the picture. I booked a twin room and they’ve given us 1 double bed room. I booked a room with a window and they’ve given us a very dark lit room. When i complained, they allowed us to do a show room of the twin room. But because we’re all tired of the very early morning flight and we’re all hungry (past lunchtime), we rather chose to settle with the 1st one they’ve given us as we’re too tired to transfer all of our things again. The hotel was very near malls, convenient stores and fastfood chains. I had no problems choosing what to eat for my picky eater 5yr old son. It was along the highway, so we can also ride tricycles right in front of our hotel. It was near the St. Joseph the worker Cathedral. We went on a Sunday and my husband’s birthday so we were able to hear mass that day. At first, When i booked them, i messaged the hotel if they can provide a little something for my husband’s birthday like a mini cupcake will do and i will just have to pay for it. But they did not reply to my request. When i got to the hotel i understood why. It’s just not that kind of hotel. For me, this is just a 1-2 stars hotel. It’s a very old hotel. They’re doing renovations though. I had no problems with my airport transfer, as when we landed their van is already there. But we had to pay 600 pesos for the transfer which is i think is way too much. We could have booked a taxi instead and pay lesser. They’re very accommodating too with our seaport transfer which is free. As we have decided to go to cebu after bohol. There’s not enough legroom for the 3 of us, though the bathroom was big. Speaking of the bathroom, their hot and cold shower doesn’t work properly. I would have suggested for them to change it in a normal water heater instead of having a centralized one. You will end up showering with a very cold water.. that will suddenly be a too hot water after a few seconds then it will turn cold again. I had a hard time bathing my son because of this. Their restaurant were under renovations so there’s no good ambiance while having your breakfast. Their free breakfast is just ok. It’s not good.. but it’s not that bad. The staff were nice except for the ones in the reception area. Overall i would rate this hotel a 2 stars only as it wasn’t really the one i’m expecting in the pictures. The pictures were misleading. I could have booked a much better hotel with the same rate.

Arabelle Suites

Tagbilaran|2.78km from downtown
One of my favorite vacations of all time was a trip to Bohol I made with my wife and two kids waaay back in 2007. We stayed at the Bohol Bee Farm and Dumaluan Beach Resort and I had a grand time at both places, some hiccups notwithstanding. I've been back there a number of times since, but always on business, and never really staying long enough to make an impression on me. Also, both times were before I got onto tripadvisor. Last week, though, I went to Bohol again for the first time in six years, and this time I was there from Monday all the way through Friday, as I had quite a bit of work to do. Again, this was about business, not pleasure, so I definitely was not expecting anything other than a place to rest my head at night, but even then the experience of staying at Arabelle Suites proved to be a distinctly unpleasant one, The bathroom, for one thing, was the kind I really don't like, with a shower area that was not at all separated from the rest of the bathroom, whether by a divider or a curtain. The water pressure in the bidet was depressingly weak, and worst of all, I left the hotel with a boil just under my butt, and given the fact that the only toilet I used for number two the entire time I was in Bohol was at that hotel, and given that I had NEVER had a boil on my butt at ANY time in the past prior to this, I think it's quite reasonable to say that the hotel's sanitation practices leave quite a bit to be desired. Speaking of which, the tiny swimming pool was disgusting. It may have had enough chlorine to burn my eyes out, but the water was still filthy with particulate matter, and it was basically impossible to move so much as a meter ahead without hitting a dead floating insect. The lobby wifi was the only wifi that worked properly; even though I saw a router blinking on the floor where I stayed, in all the five days I stayed there I was never once able to connect to it despite the fact that it was supposedly ”open.” Worse still, the lobby wifi couldn't even make it into the conference room that was less than two feet away. Also, this may not have been a matter of direct concern to me, but with steep stairs, no elevator, and no bedrooms on the ground floor, this hotel is a positive nightmare for persons with disabilities, and it isn't much of a picnic for elderly people either. The food was all right, but not great. It irked me that they didn't have any brewed coffee, and that they didn't actually have coffee cups but rather served the coffee in soup bowls. This wasn't a big thing, but on top of everything else it was really just annoying. The saving grace of this place was the service. It wasn't great, but the staff were always polite and accommodating. Still, I don't particularly feel like giving them good marks for doing something they were obviously supposed to do, especially since they've failed on so many other counts.

This hotel is good, the rooms are bigger and the facilities are more complete. The environment of the hotel is very good. On the first floor is a large restaurant similar to a coffee shop. But the breakfast is average, so it's a meal. There are two types to choose from, American or local, American is bread slices, and the local staple food is rice. The hotel is quiet, the only downside is that it is a bit far from the pier. But the hotel service is very good, knowing that we are going to the pier in the morning, we sent a car to take us there. The price does not feel expensive.

+: very affordable and walking distance to good restos such as Abi's and Jollibee and Old airport food park. Clean and orderly room (family room). Restroom is clean. Easy check in and check out process. Cool airconditioning. Quiet place. No breakfast included, which is ok for us. With cold complimentary bottled water for each guest. No TV inside the room, but it is ok for us because we don't need it. -: restroom faucet and sink leak. No trash bin inside the room except in the restroom.

The price is very good and breakfast is also. The staff is nice. However, in 2 rooms, one has no window and the other has a noisy air conditioner. With other meals, you can pass. I ordered a burger, but it was not cooked well. I asked for the cooking well. The burger returned to me yet not cooked. In fact, it is the worst burger I eaten in my life. In fact, I didn't eat it, because I didn't want to be sick. They were about 4 servers, but no one thought to bring a glass of water.

Write this review to express gratitude to the hotel, the service is great. We originally planned to stay in November, but our flight was cancelled due to the APEC summit. I immediately contacted the hotel to see if I could return the prepaid room. The hotel handled it in a timely manner and refunded the money to me. The reason for choosing this hotel is that the hotel handled it in a timely manner because of all the questions I consulted. This is one of the best hotels in the good location area of town. Will stay again in the near future!
Kew Hotel Tagbilaran

The ambiance of the deluxe corner room I got somehow reminded me of Manila Hotel's 5-star accommodation. CR is very spacious. The basics are here: mini ref, electronic safe, & even gas masks (a first for me)! But for me, the ability to use the smart tv coupled with a strong WiFi connection is the winner! My daughter was very happy when she found out she can watch her fave kids' shows in Netflix. Slept comfortably in the cost bed. I guess one thing this hotel could improve on is the quality of the food they are serving at breakfast. It was just too...regular. It would be nice if they served something unique from Bohol. But this is just my personal preference. Other than this, Kew Hotel delivers an impressive array of hospitality and service that will surely linger in the minds of its guests even after check out.
