We stayed two nights on 17 & 18 March'24. Booked a seaview room. Room is big though not new. It is still very comfortable. Location is good.. walk pass two buildings. Will reach Suria shoppjng mall. Just cross one traffic junction.. ***a street with good food. But we had bad experience with check out on 19 March at 11.25am. There was only one malay lady recep. No other staff in sight. I cannot believe it...this one receip is helping with ang moh with general queries. I had to interrupt because i need to reach airport within 2 hours ahead of departure time. This ang moh very rude not happy that i took abit of the recep's time. I did say sorry n excuse us. Just to drop my room key to check out. First time i met such ungentleman behaviour.FromSGD 95

The staff is very nice & efficient. We noted it’s a smoking room after check-in, and the staff arranged another non-smoking room for us as requested upon booking. The swimming pool locates on the rooftop, with a rooftop bar & restaurant.

The Le Meridien KK a beautiful and very comfortable place to stay for a relaxing vacation. The location is just perfect, right at the city centre, facing the sea. Beautiful sunset view!! There are many places to eat within walking distance and the big malls are just 10mins away by Grab. The staff were very polite and always so helpful with suggestions of places to eat and shop. I recently stayed at Mercure Kota Kinabalu, and my overall experience was a mixture of positives and negatives. The hotel's ambiance and service were generally acceptable, but a couple of aspects left me with a less than perfect impression.
On the positive side, the room, although not the promised city view, was comfortable and well-maintained. The amenities provided were standard and met our basic needs for a short stay. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, adding a pleasant touch to our overall experience.
However, one notable drawback was the discrepancy in the room description. Despite being assured of a city view, we were assigned a room overlooking the opposite facing the busy road. While this may seem like a minor issue, it did impact our overall satisfaction, as the promise of a particular view was one of the factors influencing our choice.
Another inconvenience was the lack of dedicated parking facilities at the hotel. This meant that my husband had to purchase parking coupons daily, adding an unexpected expense to our stay. Moreover, the strict enforcement of parking regulations by 8 am posed a challenge, especially for guests who preferred to start their day later.
In conclusion, Mercure Kota Kinabalu is a decent choice for a short stay, offering comfortable accommodations and friendly service. However, potential guests should be aware of potential discrepancies in room assignments and the absence of on-site parking facilities, which may affect the overall convenience and cost of their stay.FromSGD 58

This hotel located in very good location. Very clean and no weird smell from the carpet. Toilet so big c/w bathtub. My family quiet happy stay here for 2 nights. Only foods for breakfast and dinner should be more improve from the taste and varity especially for spicy foods. Overall we are satisfied. The only hotel in DesignHotelsTM group in Borneo island! The lobby and room design, coffee, cocktail and food quality is probably the best you'll find in Sabah and its at par with Singapore standards. The hotel doesn't just give you the environment of a design hotel, great coffee, bespoke cocktails, delicious food but it also offers true Sabahian hospitality that you will not experience anywhere else. As soon as I arrived, one of the hotel owners personally came and greeted me and spend his time to give me a tour and explain the concept of the hotel and its design. The design of the hotel is influenced by different Sabahian landscapes and local craftsmanship depicted through contemporary means. Materials and craft is all sourced locally. I had the chance to meet both the owners and their hospitality was unprecedented. They took their time to get to know me and introduce Sabah and its culture. Something that you will not experience at big chain hotels. The LUMA is a brand new hotel group. There will always be room for improvement in their services. This is the first complaint review I leave while living in Kota Kinabalu for the past eight years. I booked for a sleepover party I made to celebrate the 16th birthday of my beloved daughter and friends. The connecting room, birthday decoration, and extra bed that the hotel specifically requested were not prepared, and above all, the smell of mold from the room was shocking. I am an asthmatic. I couldn't complain in front of happy children, so I had a terrible night. When I woke up in the morning, the children also had a hard time with the smell of mold. I felt sorry and ashamed to my daughter and friends. I talked to the staff about the situations while checking out, and they told me to leave a review. I've had the privilege of staying in numerous Shangri-La's throughout Southeast Asia, and this particular one felt somewhat dated and in dire need of modernisation. I could see signs of improvements in progress, with sections that appeared to have already received a facelift.
On my first day, I ventured to the sauna, only to find the temperature so lukewarm that I couldn't even work up a sweat. I voiced my discontent, and I'm pleased to report that the issue was addressed promptly by the next day.
One aspect that left me somewhat disenchanted was the interaction, or rather lack thereof, between the staff and guests. It didn't quite embody the exemplary service one would expect from a high-end 5-star establishment.
However, there was a shining exception to this observation - Addy, who was stationed at the breakfast area. Addy demonstrated a commendable level of attentiveness, engaging guests at their tables and ensuring needs were met promptly. Whether you required additional items or sought information, Addy was the person to turn to. This kind of service truly exemplified the standard one would anticipate from a hotel of this caliber.
I did have an enjoyable stay, but for this hotel to remain a five star there is room for improvement.FromSGD 260

The Sky Hotel is near Imago shopping mall. You can easily call a grab car to there. The staff is nice and friendly. They upgrade my room from superior king suite to bedroom suite. My family is very grateful and happy to stay here. The air conditioner is not very cold, need to wait and on for long hours. The breakfast is many choices and food is tasty.FromSGD 34
