|9.09km from downtownI chose this hotel as I was touring Berlin with a friend for a few days, but he was arriving a couple of days later than me. This proved to be a great option in terms of budget, distance from the city centre and proximity to public transport. Once you come up the steps from the U-Bahn at Siemenssdamm, it’s immediately to your right. The member of staff in the reception was warm and friendly and spoke very good English as my German is not very good after studying it a little at school 25 years ago. The room was large, very clean, and well-equipped. It was too warm for me, and turning the air con down didn’t help, but the window opens very wide. The bathroom also had a bath which was a bonus. The bed is firm which I really enjoyed, but I appreciate that won’t be to everyone’s liking. I’m sure I requested the room not to be serviced but the maid had been in every day. I didn’t use the TV but the Wi-Fi was a little patchy and slow at times. There is plenty of plug sockets including one near the bed. There was a soft light on the floor lamp and a desk lamp which was great. I had the buffet breakfast one morning, which had a great and varied selection of hot and cold food, this included cereals, bread, cold meats, cheeses, eggs, sausages, fresh juice, tea, and coffee. There is a supermarket across the road open till 10 pm, which was handy to get food for dinner. Yeah, it is quiet, and felt safe. I couldn’t hear any noise from any adjacent rooms. If I’m visiting Berlin in the future on my own, I will probably stay here again.

|3.1km from downtownJust completed a five night stay at this hotel and had a great experience. The staff is extremely knowledgeable regarding the surrounding area and Berlin in general. My room was wonderful and the breakfast superb. The executive lounge was well stocked and the staff helpful. Highly recommend this centrally located hotel for your next visit.

|4.5km from downtownThis is a surprisingly small hotel (just 13 rooms on each of six floors) but it was very comfortable, clean and perfectly located less than ten minutes from two different metro stations, in the middle between them. It's also near two local supermarkets. Front desk is staffed 24/7 and housekeeping is available daily but only upon request. The only issue I had was with the bath gel container attached to the shower wall not working (the pump was jammed). So I had to get out, wet, go find one I had packed with me from a previous hotel, and get back in to use that instead. A maintenance worker did respond quickly when I went down to tell them (phone wasn't working at the time either) and he confirmed it was broken, confiding that it was a manufacturer issue happening in other rooms as well. He replaced it with a new working one and all was fine after that. Still, I'd recommend testing that as well as the shampoo before getting in the shower, just in case, when you check in. My room rate didn't include breakfast (it seems most don't, in Europe, in my experience) so I cannot comment on the food. Daily newspaper was provided and there is one small working elevator. I would stay here again.

|1.02km from downtownI stayed in a VisionApartment (VA) in Geneva, Switzerland and was very impressed with the hotel so I thought why not do VA in Germany. I checked in at 3pm and the lobby was open but the main reception office was closed, which I thought was strange but no worries, it’s perfectly safe. This is a contactless hotel, so you won’t find staff to assist you. This is a hotel that may intimidate someone that is not a seasoned traveler. The hallway lights come on upon entry. I noticed debris on the floor upon arrival and still there the day after so there’s no one there in the hotel to monitor things like this. My room was on the 4th floor and below are restaurants that play loud music but they stop playing the music around 10pm. My room was clean and is fully equipped with plates, cups, wine glasses, eating utensils and cooking pans. The bathroom is a nice size bathroom. The shower leaks water in the sink area so you must be careful exiting the shower because you can fall especially an older person. The bed is hard. I prefer soft beds so it’s a personal preference thing. You only get two pillows. A very quite hotel, I felt safe and it’s in walking distance to main shopping, restaurants.

|8.57km from downtownVery convenient location. Right next to major bus station (i took flexibus direct from airport and it took40mins). 3 mins walk to U and S bahn. We arrived early morning and we were given a room, but we need to pay $20 extra which i think it’s fair. Contrary to some comments i saw, the front desk was fairly helpful and efficient. As expected , The room is small. All supplies and amenities are very very basic. Again this is as expected. Room quite dusty which i think can improve. Bed is not comfortable but this is reflected in the price. Overall it’s value for money. As we needed to commute to Messe Berlin frequently this hotel has made it easy due to its location We tried the buffet breakfast once. Adequate i would say. There’s a convenient store right next to bus station so you can get most of your f&b supplies there.

|0.51km from downtownPROS: - Location: Next to the Alexanderplatz metro station, super easy to go from place to place. Near the tv tower and many other attractions. Nice restaurants and cafes nearby. - Clean and comfortable rooms. Nothing bad to say about that. Many pillows. - Nice views from the upper floors. - Late check-out was possible and didn't cost anything if you were a beOne -member. It doesn't cost anything to register as a beOne -member, and you get one free breakfast, one free bottle of water (big bottle) and if possible, a late check-out on Sundays (also for free). CONS: - Soundproofing. The noice from the streets didn't bother that much on the upper floors, but you could hear everything from the hallway, if someone is walking, talking or opening doors. - Breakfast. It wasn't necessarily bad, but especially with fruits and vegetables there weren't that many options. I feel like for that price the breakfast should be better. - Staff. Again, not necessarily bad, but could've been more friendly. - Lack of mini fridge. There wasn't any mini fridge in the room. Overall a good hotel which I can recommend and would also stay here again :)

|0.98km from downtownThe hostel is very dirty. All the surfaces are sticky. There is a terrible stench in the rooms, toilets, corridors and lobby. Things forgotten by the previous tenants are lying around until they are thrown away by the current tenants. Mattresses are stained with brown stains, possibly menstrual blood (I was in the women's room). The pillows are crumpled and terribly uncomfortable. The beds stand so you can't fully open the window to air it out. The lobby is very noisy and smelly too, apparently there is no ventilation or it is blocked. Absolutely not recommended, even for 25€ a night! It's too much for this place.

|5.31km from downtownTLDR; the hotel is hotter than hell. You booked air conditioning, right? Well, actually … wrong. They turned it to hot air mode, won’t tell you that, and you’ll be unable to sleep as temperatures resemble the Sahara. There is also the fire station next door which they won’t advise you on either. Sirens ALL night long. Don’t think you can open the window to cool down - you can’t. The noise will give you tinnitus! The management or lack thereof are a disgrace. Stay here at your peril. Fuller review: I booked two rooms for six nights at almost 2000 euros. Our party were unable to sleep due to the extreme heat and had to leave early on day two, but not before giving the hotel four opportunities to put things right. We are reasonable people. The hotel, not so much. We booked Sana Berlin as the hotel is advertised as having air conditioning. This was false advertising as management had decided a few days earlier to switch off the a/c with no notice to guests, and were unwilling to switch it on, despite me asking on three occasions to reverse or rectify the issue. Not having this facility made the room incredibly warm, and sleeping at night impossible. Did I mention you can’t open the windows? The hotel refuses to concede this as an issue, despite their own member of staff visiting our room, agreeing it to not be acceptable and visibly sweating and uncomfortable due to the heat. This was the same member of staff who advised he lives in the hotel and can’t open windows either owing to the fire station next door and extreme noise of the sirens… so, not just us then. Notwithstanding this, the hotel still doesn’t take responsibility or rectify this, and has charged me handsomely for two nights accommodation (663 euros). Disgusted yet? You should be. However as with any horror story, it gets worse… I may have mentioned that we did not sleep for two nights, how could we? The extreme heat combined with the loud emergency vehicles… it felt we were in a warzone, not on a holiday. Ah, the windows. Firstly, you can’t open them to cool unable the room down due to the noise. Even if you did, you’ll get no privacy as you can’t shut the badly positioned electric blinds and have the window open at the same time… so yes, if you do you’ll be in full view of the street. Nice if you’re an exhibitionist. I’m sure you’re beginning to get the idea now. So, what did we as guests do about it? Well reader, we tried! Lord knows we tried; Both my husband and I tried to address matters with the hotel to provide fair opportunity to resolve the matter. After the first night I emailed at 8am the following day, to outline the issues. The hotel did reply at 10am advising this (the a/c) would get looked at by the ‘technical team’ however after this did not provide any further updates and proceeded to ignore us. Cool… or not as it happens! I sent a further email at 15:20 the same day seeking an update before we returned to the room. This was of course ignored, sigh. On

|5.93km from downtownI was scheduled to stay at the Econtel Charlottenburg but as this hotel had been taken over, I was rebooked into the Best Western on Kurfurstendamn. Good job I called in advance as nobody was going to inform me of the change. Though, I was quite excited initially as this promised to be an upgrade from a 3 to a 4 star hotel. Plus the location was more convenient for me. However, despite the location, there were a few items of annoyance about this hotel. Firstly, this is not a 4 star hotel. The cleaning staff knocking on the door at 9am is not what you want to hear. Secondly, the room didn't have a kettle or coffee maker. Thirdly, the air-conditioning system made quite a racket. Finally, and most importantly, the front desk staff were far from helpful and definitely suffered from an attitude problem. It just seemed as if they considered themselves above their job and that guests were more of a nuisance than anything else. Other reviewers have mentioned these things as well so it's definitely not just me. The Spanish restaurant connected to this hotel is solid with excellent food and very helpful staff. Maybe I will return to Berlin someday but doubtful I will stay at this hotel.

|0.72km from downtownWe stayed during Oct of 2021. We were pleasantly surprised when they upgraded us at check in and it was a very nice room. The room was comfy and clean. We stayed for 3 days. The last day, we had an international flight in the afternoon. When we woke up, there was no water in the bathroom. So we called the front desk and we were told that there was an issue and they were fixing it. We asked when it would be fixed, the answer was they did not know. They told me that the issue was only on that floor (we were on the top floor) and other floors had water. We had to brush our teeth, shower and get ready, so we asked if we can use one of the empty rooms on the lower floor to get ready. We were told that nothing was available and when asked what they can do since we had to get ready for the flight, the answer was they cannot do anything. So I got dressed and walked to the front desk and asked to speak to the manager. I was told he was busy and he was working to fix the issue. The attitude of the front desk was, it is too bad we cannot provide water in your room and no, we will not do anything to help you. I got back to the room and we were trying to figure out what to do, then the water turned back on. In the end, we were able to get ready and catch the flight but the experience with the front desk makes me think twice before booking this hotel chain.

|2.21km from downtownGood location, small rooms but basic facilities and clean. It is convenient to travel, there are many attractions around, and the airport is about 26 Euros. The room booked did not include breakfast, but there was a buffet on the first floor, 12 euros for one person. To experience the local breakfast in Berlin, we chose to go out and have breakfast in the bakery. The hotel helps to make a reservation for a taxi and needs to pay for the service. The actual taxi at the entrance of the hotel is not difficult to call. When leaving the hotel, it is a black taxi. It feels like being bypassed.

|1.76km from downtownI'll start with a positive--Location and size of apartment. Honestly, that is where it sadly ended. This was the worst stay in our 3 week Germany trip. My main complaint was the lack of care and service from the staff and the inaccuracy/unclarity of the photos of the apt. We had an issue with the beds being separated, as our 2 big, unrelated men didn't want to sleep in a Queen together. Normally in Germany, these beds can be separated & they were shown on the web as such. Anyway, I did inquire about it and also asked instead for a cot. My request was met with a robotic and somewhat rude response, including that it couldn't be done that night (fine) and that we had to prepay, etc. There was no offer of any solution other than read the fine print. ”There are no guarantees on bed configuration” Over and over ”...this is not the policy” blah blah blah with 0 emotion or care. Oh, and they asked if we wanted a blanket to sleep on the 4 foot couch. OK. I received a sheet and when I asked for a pillow, I got a pillowcase. Whatever. Our travel partner ended up booking a separate place. They give you a 4 pg contract to sign all written in German. Sketchy. The beds werelow and somewhat uncomfortable, but we were tired and slept ok. The 1990 east german shower was awkward with shower curtain that sticks to your body & ran out of hot water after person #2. We didn't bother to complain, we knew it wouldn't matter. The washer (kinda the reason we booked this place) did not have instructions, there were no instructions on what to do with garbage or check out, other than be out by 10, or you're charged . We each received 1 bath & 1 hand towel for 3 days. It is customary in Germany, but we did need more and didn't even bother to ask, I didn't even want to see the woman! The Hallways were filthy! The apt, however, was clean. When we left the guy who was somewhat considerate asked us how everything was...I said ”liveable.” Then he asked if there were any lightbulbs out.

|13.98km from downtownI moved from another cheaper hotel in Berlin, because this hotel clearly states that they have Air Conditioning. They do NOT. They have an evaporative cooling system that is outdated and does NOT work at all. In response to complaints they just say 'we are eco friendly'. That's fine - but don't say you have AC. If I pay 220 Euros for a night in a hotel BECAUSE it is hot and I want AC, it better have AC. Read through the reviews....the manage is more concerned that people give them an accurate rating (manager often replies with 'it's a pity you only gave us 1 star'. How bout it's a pity I couldn't sleep because it was so bloddy hot in my room?! How bout your it's a pity your website description is wrong. Even on the night in question, one of the staff came to the room and verified that even the horrible 'cooling system' wasn't working. The manager, Sasha Braunstein, clearly doesn't get it and doesn't care. It was a miserable stay and they literally have the gall to sanctimoniously claim they are just being Environmentally friendly. If your website says you have AC, you better have it. What an outrage. The earth is warming....get a clue, people want AC. I could camp in a park and it would be cooler than the hot, humid, stuffy room at the Pentahotel.

|4.41km from downtownWe arrived to a friendly welcome at this lovely hotel . Excellent room, well appointed with a modern ensuite bathroom . Breakfast was a well laid out buffet with plenty of choice . Staff were once again very friendly and courteous with pots of tea or coffee served at the table . The hotel was well placed for sightseeing Berlin and we would thoroughly recommend it if that is the purpose of your visit . The foyer has a unique and fascinating light display which is a lovely feature to watch in the evening with a quiet drink . We understand that there is a pool and gym facility but unfortunately we didn't have time to visit that section of the hotel during our three night stay .

|5.61km from downtownThis visit, our third time here, reminded us why we like it here. Although this time our room overlooked the street, rather than the S-Bahn tracks, the service and location were still outstanding. The Hampton is a short walk from the Savignyplatz S-Bahn station. The Uhlandstrasse U-Bahn station is equally close, but the U-1 line there doesn't directly serve as many popular destinations as the S trains from Savignyplatz. There's plenty of practical shopping along Kantstrasse to the north and higher-end experiences along the famous Kurfürstendamm to the south. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection. I grew to enjoy currywurst for breakfast along with little rolled-up pancakes. In the evening, the bar was manned by a parade of temps of varying ability. As the first, experienced barkeep eloquently put it, ”We don't serve food here. Only pizza.” Those pizzas were actually very good, and an excellent partner to the ever-available beer. That bar was also a great place to strike up a conversation with other English speakers after a long day negotiating the German language. The Hampton would be closer to perfect if it had in-room fridges and better ice service. A limited number of ice buckets are available at the bar, which is the only place to refill them. Every worker I encountered at the Hampton was friendly, much better than the standard German cool efficiency. I would be very happy to stay here again.

Otherwise, no complaints as such!

|1.2km from downtownFour things to know about this hotel before you book. 1. If you book early you will pay more. 311 euros a night booked three months ahead. 200 euros a night booked three weeks ahead. Look at any booking website. 2. On check-in they take the full amount of your stay from your credit card, plus a 50 euros a day deposit ”in case you use the mini-bar”. (In fact the mini-bar is empty - see photo). This might be a problem if you have credit limit issues. 3. They use sweaty, clammy poly-cotton bed-linen - see photo of label. You cannot change hotels because they have already trousered your money. To sleep properly we had to buy our own fully cotton bed-linen - see photo of receipt. The reason they use poly-cotton is explained on the manufacturer's website: ”Bed linen must be lightweight...thus allowing staff to work faster....Experience shows that savings of 5 to 10% can be achieved”. Nothing about the comfort of guests. The staff say that all Westin hotels use poly-cotton. Totally unacceptable in a serious hotel and we shall not stay in a Westin hotel again. 4. Because of the hotel's layout, most bedrooms are 50 to 120 meters from the elevators. In the course of a day you can easily walk a kilometre or more to and from your room. In other respects it is well positioned, if you wish to be in Mitte, the breakfast is good, and the staff are professional and helpful to the extent that the chain allows. Garden rooms are a very little bit smaller than rooms on the street, but much quieter and a few have a balcony.

|2.18km from downtownI can not beleive this is a 4 star hotel! From 9.-12. In May 2024, I was a participant in the meeting held at INNSIDE by Melia Berlin Mitte, and I came with my husband. The organizer offered only the cheapest rooms when booking. I contacted the hotel directly by e-mail and asked for an upgrade to a Premium room. I received several kind e-mails and arranged an upgrade without any problems, so upon arrival we had the desired room on the top floor waiting for us, for which, of course, we had to pay extra. The room was small, tidy, clean, but with a view of the neighboring buildings and their windows. However, already on the first night we noticed that the room was very hot. It was hot in Berlin these days.. On the second day, we checked the air conditioner and realized that it was actually on heating, not cooling! So we went to the Reception deskasking to fix that. To our surprise, the receptionist (kind young female – at that moment) did not call any technical service, but went to the room with us personally. In the room, she opened some kind of distribution box in the wall and turned something on and off, after which she told us that everything should be fine now. As we had responsibilities all day outside, we agreed that in the evening, when we return to the room, we will check the situation. She told us to contact the reception again if the air conditioner still won't work and then she would move us to another room. When we returned to the room in the evening, it was even warmer than in the morning - the air conditioner heated the room as if it was minus 10 degrees outside! We went to the reception, complained again and asked to be moved to another room. At the time, a very young woman was working at the reception desk, who coldly replied that there were no rooms available and that she could not give us another room. We asked to speak with the head of the shift...she said she didn't have one...at our insistence, she still went to a small room behind the reception, where we saw the same polite young woman who came to ”fix” our air conditioner in the morning. They talked for a while and the receptionist came back to us telling us that there are no available rooms and adviced us to ask again in the morning... No apology, no hint of kindness, not even an attempt to hide this superior lady behind the reception who did not even intend to come to talk with us, completely unprofessional! In the morning there were still no rooms available... no apology again…. We were forced to spend one more warm summer night in a room where the heating was on all night. ….. and we could not wait to leave this hotel! Although we felt insecure (there was a passage by the window through which anyone could enter the room through fire stairs), we still left the windows open, because it was unbearably hot. Staying in the room for which we had to pay extra for the upgrade was desperate! But the story does not end here! When leaving, we had an early flight, so the night b

|4.51km from downtownI had a nice stay in this hotel. Clean bathroom with everything I needed. Room was big enough, as I was alone. Wifi was working alright for me. Used it on my laptop and phone and had no issues. There were 2 downsides: for me, personally, the bed was way too hard. The first night it felt like I was laying on bricks. During my stay it got better, as I got used to it. The other thing was the airconditioning. As it was a hot period (30+ degrees), I chose this hotel as it had airconditioning. Well, it barely worked. The room thankfully didn't get superhot, because I was able to fully cover the window (so no sun could get in). A positive for me was the breakfast. I usually went around 9 am, and there was plenty of space for me to sit. Also the buffet was being restocked all the time and it got everything I wanted.

|13.25km from downtownBy the time this incident happened, I have already completed a 4 days stay in the hotel and was willing to increase my stay. For that purpose, I went to Mrs. Hausweld and asked to please consult the availability and the price of the rooms for extra nights. In response, I was told that the final price, including the city tax for 3 additional nights would be 350 euros with breakfast included. Consequently, I was willing to go along with that reservation and requested to pay by card. Afterward, then Mrs. Hausweld offered me the POS terminal to go along with the payment, and the amount ascended to 419 euros. Due to that unexpected difference, I kindly asked for an explanation and was told that 419 euros were the final price, and if I was not happy with it I would need to leave the hotel immediately. As a result, I kindly refused to pay that amount and asked her to please consult the price for two nights instead of three. In response to that, the front desk manager told me that no more rooms were available for me and that I needed to check out now and leave the hotel. Following that conversation, I went on Booking.com and reserved a room for the same days, without breakfast, and surprisingly rooms were still available. Next, I went to the front desk and asked to please pay for my booking Mrs. Hausweld looked at me in an unfriendly manner and told me she could not find any reservation. After 5 minutes of searching, she could finally open my booking. Then, although I already provided a credit card in my booking, she asked me to show it to her because she was not believing that it was not mine. I answered that the card was in effect mine and offered her to have a look, but it did not have any numbers on it. So she got ahead to request me to write down my credit card details, including the CVV code, on a piece of paper as ”a security”. Afterward, I was asked again by her if I would like breakfast or not, despite I selected the no breakfast option on booking.com. A moment later I was offered the POS terminal to pay by card, which stated an amount 30 euros higher that the price I booked the room for on this site. Due to the reoccurrence of the same, previous situation again, I refused to pay and respectfully asked her why the price was higher again. Mrs. Hauweld answered in a very disrespectful manner that I asked her to have breakfast included and that I was confusing her again. After that situation, I kindly asked them to speak with her supervisor. She answered, that she had no supervisor and was the only person working in the hotel for the whole weekend. That experience left me in complete disbelief of her professionality and her being in that important role in the hotel. However, despite that bad experience with that particular staff member, I would like to note that the other front desk managers were very friendly and helpful at all times.

|6.86km from downtownExpress Hotel All room specifications are the same. Breakfast is normal. Those in normal European hotels are slightly simple. Nothing in the room. You need to prepare yourself. The nearest subway station walks for ten minutes. If you go to travel, it is not convenient to take the subway. The subway is a little longer. The surrounding environment is still quiet. It is not the place where the Chinese are getting together. There is an ice cream shop opposite the hotel. 1.2 Euro is delicious. There is also a outside. The atmosphere of the restaurant that eats the steak is very good. Below is the photo of the restaurant. It’s okay to stroll to the subway station. There is a supermarket. You can also go to the subway bus because Berlin’s public transportation is particularly difficult.

Berlin
|3.31km from downtownThe location is great. We walked to many places from the hotel. We also hired bikes from apps which my son loved. The trains and buses are a very short distance. We got everywhere in the city and to Potsdam with great ease. The room was clean, big and comfortable. My only real issue is that the air con doesn’t turn on until summer but it was 23 degrees in April and the room was stuffy. We couldn’t have the window open as we were next to train tracks. The next day staff moved us to a garden room and it was much better. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. We didn’t eat breakfast at the hotel as my son is a fussy eater but the food looked great. The bar area is beautiful and it was nice to relax there after a full day of exploring. We would definitely stay here again.

Berlin
|5.37km from downtownI would highly recommend staying here if you are running the Berlin Marathon. Being from North America, I had a preference to stay at a hotel that was a known brand to me. This hotel is a part of the IHG brand (Holiday Inn). You can expect the same type of experience that you would expect from any other IHG hotel. It was a very short walk to the zoologischer garten S-bahn station which makes travel to the Marathon easy (and other tourist sites for that matter). The above ground railway gives you multiple trains to access (S5/S7/S9 etc) and the distance/time is very short (less than 20 minutes to get to Berlin main station (including the walk from the hotel to the station). This year, the hotel was hosting a pasta dinner each night leading up to the race. This made it easy to get a nice ”carbo loaded” dinner without leaving the hotel. I had pasta both nights and both times the food was excellent. Hopefully they will do again in future years. There was also a breakfast available race morning although I did not opt to take it. My room was exactly as pictured on the website. The shower was fantastic with handheld and waterfall options. The property has stairs for those who do not like elevators. At the time of this review, you can walk up and down stairs with no issues (you just need your room key to access the floor). I asked for a wake-up call on Marathon morning (as a backup to my phone alarm) and it worked well. The staff were very friendly and helpful at every step of the way (no issues in only speaking English). All in all, a great experience!

Berlin
|4.82km from downtownHotel next to Berlin Zoo.
The room was very stylish, neat and clean.
The minibar was free and German beer was also placed!
And the best part is the Jungle Sauna on the upper floor.
Self-roasting is possible in the Finnish sauna.
Pour water on the stove and adjust it, and a hot sauna is ready!
There is a rest space next to the sauna where you can take a shy bath.
Sparkling water and German beer were also available.
Please note that the sauna is a mixed-gender bath and swimsuits are prohibited.
Bath towels are placed in the sauna, so you don't need to bring them from your room.
Bathrobes can be borrowed from reception.
Stylish hotel, great sauna, friendly staff, everything was great.
I will stay at this hotel again when I visit Berlin next time.
