TLH Toorak Hotel - TLH Leisure, Entertainment and Spa Resort

Typical British seaside hotel. We booked 4 family ‘terrace’ rooms which are large and open out onto a ‘private’ shared terrace. Rooms were dated and a little worn. Bathroom had 4 cracked tiles on floor and black mould around bath. Also coving hanging off and only holding on by the paint. Restaurant offers good food, but choice is limited and very repetitive. Bit old fashioned (saying that the average guest age has to be around 80) Facilities are good though. Indoor / outdoor pools, large games room, softplay, bowling etc. Lots of bars and a large entertainments room “starlight lounge”. However, pool area needs a good clean. Water very cloudy and looks dirty. The whole hotel is in need of a full refurbishment. It looks like the hotel is too big to maintain and everything is out of control. Everywhere you look there is misty glass, damp, flakey paint, missing tiles, stains, ripped carpets, dated decor, dirt, mess, cigarette buckets next to doorways, Its a shame. Have been here many times, and notice the hotel declines more every year. Until the hotel has had a full refurb, we will not return. Torquay itself is in a very sorry state these days.
Crofton House Hotel

We stayed here for a short two night break and found everything to be very good. We were in Torbay suite, a very large room with a seaview and a large bathroom, bath and shower separate. We were informed there was no breakfast but there is a nearby Hotel which did excellent breakfasts at a reasonable cost. The Hotel is a reasonable walk into town and we are oldies, so great location for the younger set. Sauna and Pool were. open and working well. Comfortable bed, clean bedroom and pleasant staff. Only drawback no bar or restaurant so no evening get together spot, but you are welcome to take in your own drinks, we took in two bottles of wine and staff lent us two wine glasses from the now closed bar. All in all a great place for a short break with plenty of nearby eating places so plenty of variety.
Travelodge Torquay

We found Travelodge the surrounding area which was neat and tidy, with bus stops on either side of the road. Our room were clean and tidy, as were shower-room and toilet. Breakfast was fun choosing what to have to eat. The staff were very friendly and helpful, whenever you asked them a question, or wanted advice. I definitely would stay again and again.

We booked this because of location witch is only 100 metres from the front of torquay! Reception said how did we come on the train ? We said by car ! They said why didn't you come ear and there is parking at the back of the hotel !!!!! They said on the booking that there is no parking so we're arranged parking our self's!!! When got there was a bit early but they would see if room was ready witch it was good one room 110 was OK but come nite constantly morning noise as its above the in door pool and when there are peoplein there very noisy ! Was woke up with fire alarm at 2'30 am no explanation !! Settled in had a look around but dated but clean !! Nice out door swimming pool !! Grounds are keeper well !! Staff were helpful but young with not much experience!! As evening came asked if we could see evening menu with that reception said no chef !!!!! Breakfast was OK but a bit unorganised!!!! In the day there was not chance of getting a snack or food in the hotel ! Don't no if there trying to sort there's things out !! Didn't seem to be any management around plus for what you pay no dress code no name badges !!! Would I go back not in the near future as there are better hotels around
Devonshire Hotel

We are great fans of all Daish's hotels, but The Devonshire is by far our favourite. The hotel is reminiscent of a stately home with its corridors and short flights of stairs, indeed on our first night we felt that we might need to leave a confetti trail to find our way back, in effect we didn't, but this all added to the charm of our stay. We had a very large room with very comfortable beds. Wi fi throughout the hotel was an added bonus. The staff were lovely without exception: friendly, helpful, patient, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was excellent: lots of choice, well presented and well cooked. Every evening there is entertainment, but if you fancy a quiet night in your room, there is always your large tv to keep you entertained. It is located at the top of a hill, which might pose problems if members of the coach trip have mobility issues, but there is a bus stop close by and of course, local taxis. The view of the bay as you walk down into town is stunning. Would we stay here again? Most definitely. We had a super holiday. Thank you Daish's and The Devonshire.
