Tunguskas Ancient City

The ancient city of Tunguska is located about 40 kilometers southwest of Xinhe County, Aksu, Xinjiang, and is one of the larger ancient city sites. The city wall is 6 meters high, with a circumference of about 1000 meters, and it is slightly square. The construction method of the ancient city is as follows: the lower part is a layer of soil and a layer of red willow branches, which are built on top of each other, and the upper part is built with adobe. After excavation, there are relics of houses, wooden utensils, cloth towels, shoes, flax seeds, oil cakes, etc. in the city, as well as the remnants of documents from the Tang Dynasty. From the analysis of the pottery pieces seen in the urban area, it is an important military town under the Tang'an West Protectorate.
