Mahamuni Temple Review

　　The Mahmud Buddha, also known as the "Big Buddha", is located in the southwest of Mandalay, a Buddhist holy place, and also a place where Mandalay is incense, and the statue of Mahmud Buddha is worshipped, which is rumored to be opened by the Buddha himself. Locals regard the pagoda as the Buddha's true body, believing that he can bring all miracles and has a sacred status in Myanmar. The bronze Buddha statue of Mahmudani is about 4 meters high. There are many different legends and stories about its origin. It is certain that in the 19th century, 70s and 80s, a fire destroyed Mandalay City, but the Buddha statue was miraculously preserved. The damage to Weiyi was caused by the melting of the pure gold crown and the gold products, and the renovation continued until 1884. Today, the male pilgrims who are constantly pouring in are pasted on the Buddha statue according to the custom. After years of accumulation, the thickness of the gold leaf has exceeded 16 cm, and the entire Buddha statue body has changed shape, which also shows the incense of this Buddhist temple.

The temple is a large temple in Mandela. Men can buy gold foils to put gold on the Buddha, and women can only watch outside, not close to the Buddha. There are quite a few monks living around the Mahmud Pagoda because they think they can get shelter from the Buddha.
