The cherry blossoms at Longhu Wetland Park are so beautiful that I don't want to leave! — traveler post in Lu County

The cherry blossoms at Longhu Wetland Park are so beautiful that I don't want to leave!

Seriously, stop using the old phrase "cherry blossom tunnel" to describe it. The beauty of Longhu Wetland Park is the kind that makes you say "wow" the moment you step in, with a relaxing vibe. It's not a crowded, overhyped influencer spot, but a quiet cherry blossom path where the late-blooming flowers are fluffy and soft pink. When the wind blows, petals drift down, and even your hair carries the floral scent. You don’t need to find the perfect angle; just look up to see a tree full of pink clouds, or look down to see petals covering the ground. The air itself is sweet, perfectly capturing the gentle warmth of spring. The flowers along the path are perfectly matched too. Bright yellow flowers line the road for a long stretch, and the lawn is sprinkled with tiny pink wildflowers. The green is fresh, the yellow bright, and the pink soft—layers that are especially soothing and stress-relieving. Especially after the rain, the air is filled with the fresh scent of grass and trees, cool and refreshing. Just a few steps and you feel completely clear-headed, forgetting all the annoying work stuff. No need to rush or squeeze through crowds, just stroll leisurely, pick up a fallen flower to keep in your pocket, hold a transparent umbrella and snap a couple of photos—the wind even helps you get the perfect shot. This is the kind of park you should visit in spring: unpretentious, peaceful, quietly laying out the best of spring for you to enjoy.

Back from Chishui Danxia, stayed for 3 days, and had a flawless trip — traveler post in Lu County

Back from Chishui Danxia, stayed for 3 days, and had a flawless trip

🌊Spent 3 days soaking in Chishui, with the sound of waterfalls following me everywhere🌊 Chishui is a Danxia landform area in northern Guizhou, where waterfalls of all sizes hang from red cliffs. September is still the high-water season, so the water volume is incredible. The average temperature in the mountains is around 23°C, which is 5–8 degrees cooler than in the city. I visited three valleys in three days, and getting wet is just part of the experience. Here is my guide👇 🚗 Transportation guide Fly to Luzhou Yunlong Airport and take a 50-minute bus, or take a high-speed train to Luzhou or Zunyi Station and transfer to a bus. ⚠️ The attractions are scattered in different directions, so driving yourself is best. Relying on public transport means you can only visit one spot per day. 🗺️ Itinerary Day 1: Chishui Great Waterfall—Ticket is ¥100, including a ¥20 sightseeing bus. Free admission for those under 14 and over 65. Walking into the viewing platform, the mist hits your face, and you won't regret getting soaked. Day 2: Foguangyan—¥105, including a ¥25 bus. The red Danxia cliff looks like a giant wall. It only looks good in photos when backlit between 3:00 PM–6:00 PM. The Lotus Terrace is the best spot for photos. Day 3: Sidonggou + Bamboo Sea—Sidonggou is ¥95 and connects four levels of waterfalls. Bamboo Sea is ¥45; it's quiet in the bamboo forest, perfect for a leisurely walk. A joint ticket for all three attractions is ¥180 and valid for three days, which is a better deal. 🍜 Food recommendations Cured pork trotter stewed with bamboo shoots is a famous Chishui dish, sour and savory, perfect for cutting through grease. The tofu grilled fish is freshly caught and grilled, and the spicy dipping sauce is addictive. "Zhu'erba" (sticky rice dumplings) are soft and filled. You can also take a bottle of Chishui sun-dried vinegar home. 📸 Must-visit photo spots Foguangyan Lotus Terrace (afternoon backlight); Great Waterfall viewing platform; Sidonggou water curtain; Bamboo Sea trails. 🏨 Accommodation tips Also, homestays at the entrance of the scenic areas allow you to be among the first to enter the valleys. When there are fewer people, the sound of the water is most immersive, and the lighting at Foguangyan is better. The drive from downtown Chishui to each valley is about an hour. If you want to visit two spots in one day, staying downtown is more efficient than frequently changing homestays. Staying in downtown Chishui is most convenient, with many hotels and a wide range of dining options, and you can drive to all the valleys. If you want to save time, stay at a homestay at the entrance of the Great Waterfall or Foguangyan scenic areas to enter the valley with the first wave in the morning when it's less crowded and the water sounds louder. The old house inns in Bing'an Ancient Town have a lot of character and are quiet at night, perfect for an extra night's stay. September is the high-water season but also the end of the off-season, so room rates are low, but they will rise during the National Day holiday. 💡 Travel tips The attractions are scattered, so don't rely solely on public transport; chartering a car or driving yourself is the best way to explore. You will definitely get wet at the Water Curtain Cave, so carry a raincoat. The Danxia stone steps are extremely slippery when wet, so wear non-slip shoes. The water vapor is heavy during the high-water season, so make sure your camera is waterproof. In Chishui, the red cliffs and the water are connected—you'll be walking through water the whole way🌊

Welcome to Luxian, Luzhou, Sichuan — traveler post in Lu County

Welcome to Luxian, Luzhou, Sichuan

[Luxian: 3 Days & 2 Nights | A Hidden Song Dynasty Gem in the "Liquor City" | A 5,000–10,000 CNY In-Depth Cultural Luxury Trip] By / A seasoned cultural travel expert who has spent 7 rainy nights sleeping among Luzhou's ancient architecture Stop treating Luxian as just a gas station on the way to Luzhou. This ancient county with a thousand-year history is the only one in Sichuan that boasts the Song Dynasty Longnao Bridge, the Ming Dynasty Yuchan Mountain cliff carvings, the Qing Dynasty Strange Stone Forest, and China's largest underground cellar complex (the predecessor of Luzhou Laojiao). It is quiet, yet every blue brick tells a story; it is not a viral destination, but a single carved window lattice is worth half a history of art. This time, we have customized an exclusive Luxian itinerary for discerning travelers—one with academic depth, local warmth, and collectible value (5,600–9,200 CNY per person, flexible budget, no hidden costs). ✅ Day 1 | A Song Dynasty Journey Begins × Dreaming by Longnao Bridge · Morning | Check in to "Longnao Inn: Song Aesthetic Homestay" (a courtyard restored based on authentic Song Dynasty architectural methods, featuring rammed earth walls, wooden caisson ceilings, and handmade incense seal experiences; 2 nights with breakfast included, ¥2,200) · Afternoon | Immersive Song Dynasty cultural study: → At Longnao Bridge (one of the oldest surviving stone beam bridges in China), listen to a bridge expert explain how Northern Song craftsmen used sticky rice mortar to withstand century-long floods; → Visit the national intangible cultural heritage "Luxian Song Porcelain Firing Technique" workshop to try your hand at throwing, carving, and glazing to create your own "Longnao Bridge pattern" tea cup (finished product shipped via SF Express, ¥580/person) · Evening | Vegetarian banquet at the foot of Yuchan Mountain: The chef recreates braised bamboo shoots with matsutake and osmanthus-infused snow pear based on the Song Dynasty cookbook "Shanjia Qinggong," paired with locally brewed Luxian osmanthus sweet fermented rice wine (private banquet + guided tour, ¥420) ✅ Day 2 | Whispers of the Grottoes × Breathing in the Mountains · Morning | In-depth interpretation of Yuchan Mountain cliff carvings (avoid the tour groups! Follow a cultural heritage preservationist into closed-off Tang Dynasty caves to see how the robes of Apsaras were quietly recarved by Southern Song craftsmen into Guanyin's clean vase—a gentle foreshadowing of dynastic change hidden in the details) · Afternoon | Geological tour of the Strange Stone Forest: Not just a quick look, but identifying Jurassic silicified wood and Cretaceous turtle-back rocks with a geology PhD, with each person receiving a custom mineral specimen box (including Luxian's unique hematite crystal clusters, ¥360) · Evening | Check in to "Yunxiu Shanju" Cliff Boutique Hotel (smart temperature control throughout the room + terrace facing the first bend of the Yangtze River, includes stargazing tea ceremony and Song-style tea whisking experience, ¥1,500) ✅ Day 3 | Wrapping Up with Local Life × Taking Culture Home · Morning | Century-old oil-paper umbrella workshop in Xuantan Town: Learn to paste umbrellas and paint tung oil designs with the 7th-generation successor, with your name and date engraved on the umbrella ribs to create a "walking piece of Song Dynasty art" (finished product includes shipping, ¥320) · Morning | VIP tour of the Luxian Museum special exhibition "Chronicles of Longnao Bridge" (curator-led + rubbing experience + limited edition Song-style stationery set, ¥280); before leaving the museum, make a rubbing of your own "Luxian Imprint" copper seal at the Song Dynasty Market Relief Wall in Zhongyi Square (carry it with you, valid for life) 💡 Why is this money well spent? · You are not just paying a fee; you are paying for cultural dignity. Luxian does not need to be defined by internet traffic; it only waits for those truly willing to crouch down and listen to a stone, a statue, or a wisp of kiln fire speak. In this guide, there is no "been there, done that," only a chain of evidence that "I once breathed with the Song Dynasty."

September–October is peak season for Chishui Danxia, but I really don't recommend going, because it's just... — traveler post in Lu County

September–October is peak season for Chishui Danxia, but I really don't recommend going, because it's just...

First, the verdict: In September–October, Chishui Danxia has plenty of rain, powerful waterfalls, and cool bamboo forests. It's the most spectacular window to see the "red cliffs and flying waterfalls." But! The 800 steps on the waterfall viewing trail are slippery after rain, and the attractions are scattered across several towns. If you don't do your homework, you'll really trip up and get lost. I came for the "World Natural Heritage Chishui Danxia Waterfall." A ribbon of white water falls from an 80-meter-wide red rock cliff into the Emerald Pool. The mist drifts to the viewing platform and dampens your clothes—at that moment, it felt worth it. But! Why, with such stunning red rocks and green waters, would I never want to come a second time without preparation? 😮💨 Chishui is in Zunyi, Guizhou. The Chishui Danxia Tourist Area is a World Natural Heritage site where bamboo forests, waterfalls, and red Danxia rocks coexist. Fly to Luzhou Airport (closest to Chishui) or take a high-speed train to Zunyi/Chongqing, then transfer to a bus. If driving, you can navigate to each scenic spot. I originally thought I'd just take a quick look at the waterfall, but I realized I only understood it after visiting the Big Waterfall, Foguangyan, and the Bamboo Sea one by one. ⛰️ First, the highlights—I'm not exaggerating The Chishui Big Waterfall is 76 meters high and 80 meters wide. It's a spectacular Danxia waterfall wonder in China. The water curtain is over 80 meters wide, and the chance of seeing a rainbow in the mist is highest when the sun hits it at an angle between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM 🌟 Foguangyan is a circular Danxia cliff over 300 meters high. The red rocks look like fire in the sunlight. The trail is about 3 kilometers long with a gentle incline—it's a textbook example of Danxia landforms 🪨 Bamboo Sea National Forest Park is covered with towering nanmu bamboo that blocks the sky. The forest trails are cool, with an elevation of about 1,000 meters. When the wind blows, the whole forest rustles 🌿 Sidonggou has four levels of cascading waterfalls. The 4-kilometer hike is cool and relaxing, perfect for a leisurely stroll. September–October is the perfect time to visit. After the rain, the water volume is at its peak and the waterfalls are most powerful—much more spectacular than in the dry season. 📸 Photo spots—just follow these tips At the Big Waterfall viewing platform, photograph the water curtain falling into the pool. If you're lucky during rainbow season, you'll get an epic shot. In front of the Foguangyan cliffs, capture the "gilded" red rocks. The light is reddest in the morning. On the Bamboo Sea boardwalk, photograph the light filtering through the bamboo leaves. Wear light-colored clothing for an ethereal portrait. At Sidonggou, photograph the cascading waterfalls level by level. The streams and green bamboo make for a very healing frame. 🍜 How to eat right in Chishui Chishui tofu pudding rice with tender tofu and spicy dipping sauce is the most authentic. Bamboo shoot stew with cured pork trotter is a classic mountain home-style dish, and cold-water fish is fresh, made to order 🥢 Chishui sun-dried vinegar cold noodles are refreshing and appetizing, and the panda bamboo fungus soup is light and soothing. You can eat very well in the city for CNY 30–80 per person. Look for old shops frequented by locals and avoid tourist trap restaurants. 🚗 Transportation guide Fly to Luzhou Yunlong Airport (closest) or take a high-speed train to Zunyi/Chongqing, then transfer to a bus to Chishui Bus Station. If driving, navigate to each scenic spot. The Big Waterfall is about 40 kilometers from the city, a 1-hour drive. Foguangyan is in Yuanhou Town, and the Bamboo Sea is a bit further, so hiring a car is recommended. Chishui Bus Station has a "Big Waterfall Express" to Lianghe Town for CNY 12/person and a direct bus to Foguangyan for CNY 19/person. Tickets: Big Waterfall CNY 80 + sightseeing bus CNY 20 (package CNY 100, package including elevator is about CNY 150); Foguangyan CNY 80 + sightseeing bus; Bamboo Sea CNY 45; Sidonggou CNY 75. Students and children get half-price; senior tickets are subject to on-site policies. 👗 Clothing and gear The waterfall viewing trail has about 800 steps that are super slippery after rain. Non-slip shoes are a must—don't wear leather shoes 🪾 It's cool in the Bamboo Sea and on the mountain top, so bring a light jacket. If you want to photograph the red rocks, wear bright-colored clothing; it contrasts perfectly with the Danxia background. Bring sunscreen and mosquito repellent. There are many mosquitoes in the Bamboo Sea, and the waterfall mist is heavy, so waterproof your phone and camera. 💡 A few tips The steps are most slippery after rain. Seniors should hold the railing and walk slowly. It's safest to wait until the rain stops before heading up the mountain. It's recommended to book tickets for the Big Waterfall and Foguangyan 3–5 days in advance, as there are often queues on-site. There are many mosquitoes in the Bamboo Sea, so apply repellent in advance. The boardwalks are slippery, so watch your step. The attractions are scattered. If you're a new driver, don't force yourself to drive on mountain roads; hiring a car or taking the express bus is more worry-free. Go to the Big Waterfall between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM; the chance of seeing a rainbow is highest, and it's not too crowded. Finally, a heartfelt word: When I say "I really don't recommend going," I mean I don't recommend going without non-slip shoes, recklessly climbing 800 wet steps right after rain, or rushing in without planning your transport. In this season of September–October, if you pick a day that clears up after rain and go to the Big Waterfall in the morning to wait for a rainbow, the red rocks and green waters of Chishui Danxia are worth a slow visit for everyone. When the autumn rain clears, go to the Big Waterfall and watch the white ribbon of water fall into the Emerald Pool ✨

Luzhou | Luxian has great food too! — traveler post in Lu County

Luzhou | Luxian has great food too!

To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for a nice meal in Luxian 😂 After all, it's considered a culinary desert within a culinary desert. This time, I just wanted to find a cool place to eat, so I went with a "let's give it a try" mindset. The two of us ordered the Guizhou sour soup meatball hot pot, and it was surprisingly good! The meatballs and crispy pork were very generous, and the portions were substantial. It had a very authentic Guizhou sour soup flavor; it's definitely a strong contender among nice restaurants. I've been back a few times since to try other dishes. ▪️ Tom yum hot pot: A big letdown. The taste was quite ordinary, and it only contained shrimp and a few vegetables. I didn't like it. ▪️ Red rice noodle rolls: The crispy layer in the middle was very greasy. Even with the outer wrapper, it was still too oily for my taste. Overall, it's quite good among the nice restaurants in Luxian. 📊 Overall rating: 7/10

Just back from Luzhou—I got ripped off, and my spending perspective is shattered, but I still love this little city filled with the aroma of liquor

! September–October is the perfect time to visit—average temperatures are 18–25°C, not too hot or cold. Zhangba Longan Forest has 500 mu of golden ginkgo leaves covering the ground, and Yuzixi Wetland Park has pink muhly grass that looks like clouds and mist. The best part is it's uncrowded, affordable, and the food is to die for! You can cover food, accommodation, and activities for 500 yuan per person for 3 days. This "hard-earned, no-nonsense guide" is for all the girls who want to go—I've already stepped in the traps, so you can just copy my itinerary👇 🗺️3-day, 2-night itinerary (copy-and-paste version) Day 1: Cultural tour of the Liquor City Morning: Arrive and head straight to the Luzhou Laojiao Tourist Area (tickets approx. 35–50 yuan)—dive into the "living" national treasure cellar pits that are over 400 years old; the aroma of distiller's grains hits you in the face. The light and shadows in the red-walled corridor next to the 1573 cellar pits are incredible. ⚠️Honestly: The scenic area isn't large. If you aren't buying liquor, you can finish touring in 15 minutes; there are more liquor stalls than interactive experiences. Afternoon: Go to Dongmenkou (remains of the Song Dynasty Tonghai Gate) → Bell and Drum Tower → Zhongshan Park (reopened on Sep 15! Forest book bar + traditional Hanfu experience hall). Evening: Chase the sunset along the Yangtze River on Binjiang Road, then eat at the Shuijinggou/Zhuzi Street night market. Day 2: Autumn scenery walking route Morning: Zhangba Longan Forest (free!)—in September–October, the 500-mu ginkgo avenue is covered in gold, with over 15,000 longan trees, most of which are over a century old. The sunlight filtering through the canopy in the Dragon Shadow Corridor is stunning. ⚠️I recommend going early in the morning or at dusk for the softest light. Afternoon: Go to Yuzixi Wetland Park (free)—it's peak season for pink muhly grass; the pink flower spikes look like clouds and mist. Wear a white dress for perfect photos. Return to the city in the evening. Day 3: Choose between an ancient town or the mountains Option A: Yaoba Ancient Town (free!)—old bluestone streets + old teahouses. It hasn't been overly commercialized; the oil-paper umbrella workshops and wooden door alleys are super photogenic. Option B: Fangshan Back Mountain Loop (tickets approx. 20 yuan)—about 10km in total. In autumn, the trails are covered in pine needles and maple leaves, and you might find chestnuts, pomelos, and persimmons. ⚠️There are many stairs on the mountain, so wear non-slip shoes. 🍜Food recommendations (my mouth is watering just writing this) 🍗Gulin spicy chicken—featured on "A Bite of China"! The chicken skin is crispy and falls off the bone, and the dipping sauce is rich and spicy 🥟Hongqiao pork dumplings + Luzhou white cake—hit all three "snack must-haves" on Cishan Road 🍜Xuyong pea soup noodles—thick pea soup with alkaline noodles, a local breakfast favorite 🍲Jiangmen meat-based tofu hot pot—an intangible cultural heritage flavor passed down for hundreds of years 🐟Hejiang grilled fish—a must-order for late-night snacks! You can find it everywhere at the Binjiang Road night market 🍢Shuijinggou Food Street/Jiajing Road Night Market—spicy hot pot, barbecue, grilled pig brain, and ice jelly are full of local vibes ⚠️Food prices around scenic areas are on the high side; try to choose old, established restaurants in the old town for main meals. Don't buy loose liquor at the scenic area entrance; the quality is inconsistent. 🏠Where to stay 📍Stay near Shuijinggou/Bao'en Pagoda—the heart of the old town, convenient for eating and shopping, chain hotels are 150–300 yuan/night 📍Stay near MixC/Financial Center—complete commercial facilities, walking distance to Jiale Golden Street for one-stop convenience 📍Luzhou Liquor City Hotel—right outside the Laojiao scenic area, with impeccable service details 📸Photo spots (every shot is legendary) ✨Zhangba Longan Forest Ginkgo Avenue—golden carpet in September–October, the peak of autumn ✨Yuzixi Wetland Park pink muhly grass—pink flower spikes like clouds and mist, perfect with a white dress ✨Zhongshan Park red walls and bamboo shadows—osmanthus fragrance permeates the bluestone path, full of traditional vibes ✨Red-walled corridor next to the 1573 cellar pits—excellent afternoon light and shadows, great for industrial-style photos ✨Yaoba Ancient Town Jinshi Archway + second floor of the old teahouse—bird's-eye view of the entire bluestone street ✨Baizitu Cultural Square Riverside Corridor—sunset + blue-hour night view seamlessly connected from 7:00 PM–8:30 PM ✨Xinxi Ancient Plank Road—full of golden fruit in September, ancient tree roots winding around stone steps for a dark forest vibe ⚠️Tips to avoid traps (Important! Every bit helps) 1. Don't have high expectations for the Luzhou Laojiao Scenic Area—tickets are 35–50 yuan, the area is small, and if you aren't buying liquor, you can finish touring in 15 minutes; there are more liquor stalls than interactive experiences. 2. Don't buy loose liquor at the scenic area entrance—quality is inconsistent; buy souvenirs at regular stores in the city. 3. Many residences in Yaoba Ancient Town are private areas—don't wander into courtyards for photos. 4. The paths in Zhangba Longan Forest are damp—the steps by the river are slippery, watch your step. 5. There are many stairs on Fangshan—wear non-slip shoes and keep quiet in the temple area. 6. Large temperature difference between day and night—in September–October, it's 25°C during the day (short sleeves), but it may drop below 15°C at night, so a light jacket is a must. 7. Music festival during National Day—the "Jiuyao" Music Festival runs for 4 days from Oct 3–6, book hotels in advance. 8. Don't throw away your high-speed rail ticket stubs—if you arrive in Luzhou by train before Sep 10, you can use your ticket to claim discount coupons (e.g., 30 yuan off 100 yuan). 9. Refuse scalpers selling local specialties on the street—it's safer to book scenic area tickets online in advance. 10. Beware of "unreasonably low-priced tours"—Luzhou is currently conducting a special crackdown on tourism market chaos. Luzhou is a severely underrated small city in southern Sichuan, with liquor aromas, autumn colors, delicious food, and a vibrant local atmosphere. But you still need to avoid some traps. This guide will help you save at least 200 yuan in wasted money💰 Take advantage of the beautiful autumn scenery in September–October and go for it🏃‍♀️

This Ming Dynasty bridge in Luxian is stunning.

If you're tired of cookie-cutter ancient towns and want to find a quiet, niche spot with real cultural depth, I highly recommend Longnao Bridge in Luxian 🐲. It's a severely underrated "national treasure" level hidden gem! ✨ Address: Inside Longqiao Cultural Ecological Park, Luxian, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province 🎫 Admission: Completely free! Parking is also free ⏰ Hours: 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (Last entry at 4:30 PM) 🚗 How to get there? Driving is recommended; just search for "Luxian Longnao Bridge" in your navigation app. It takes about 40 minutes from downtown Luzhou, and the parking lot is large and free! You can also take Luxian Bus Route 608. 📸 Highlights As a Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level, Longnao Bridge was built during the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty. It is the largest existing stone beam bridge with dragon carvings in China. It is hailed as a "treasure of ancient Chinese bridge art." The entire bridge was built without a single nail or rivet, relying entirely on stone mortise and tenon joints. It has remained stable after 800 years of flooding, showcasing the ultimate wisdom of ancient craftsmen. The bridge features not only dragons 🐲, but also auspicious beasts like lions 🦁, elephants 🐘, and qilin 🦌 lining both sides. The carving technique is smooth and delicate, with lifelike expressions. Strolling across the bridge, running your fingers over the bluestone polished smooth by time, you can almost hear the footsteps of merchants from the past and see the bustling market life of the old water wharf. 📷 Photo tips · It's best to go before 9:00 AM! The light is soft and there are fewer people, so you can take photos in peace. · Each beast head is unique; you can take great photos from any angle. · It's also incredibly beautiful at sunset, when the golden light hits the stone dragons—it's legendary. 🗺️ Recommended one-day itinerary Longnao Bridge → Jiuqu Hefeng (the lotus flowers are stunning in summer) → Yuchan Mountain (10-minute drive, see the Thousand-Hand Guanyin cliff carvings) 🍜 Local food There's firewood chicken nearby, stir-fried in iron pots over earthen stoves—the aroma is irresistible! There are also various small shops along Longnao Avenue, where you can find lamb rice noodles and local Chinese dishes. 💡 Tips · There are 181 dragon bridges in all of Luxian, and Longnao Bridge is the most exquisite one! · The ecological park is huge; you can also explore Longyin Waterfront and Longqiao Baihuazhou while you're there. · Wear comfortable shoes for a more relaxed visit. · You can also stop by the Luxian Song Dynasty Stone Carving Museum on your way; it's well worth a visit.
