Jingyue Pond Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
The romantic winter check-in place, Changchun Jingyuetan Blue Ice, is being asked about
This time I came to Changchun for a tour and found a niche travel spot, Changchun Jingyuetan National Forest Park, located in Jingyue Street, Nanguang District, Changchun City, with a ticket price of only 30R. You can see snowmen tied with bow ties and interesting ice sculptures. You can see the blue ice by taking a sightseeing car to the end station, the Ice and Snow World station. Make sure to catch the last bus at 16:00! Otherwise, it would be too tiring or too cold to walk to the entrance.
On the sightseeing car, I chatted with a lady who has been working in Jingyuetan since she was 18. She said, 'Why are there such beautiful ice cubes, and why didn't I know about it after working here for so long?!' Haha, it's probably a newly discovered niche photo shooting spot!
After getting off the car, I saw a large area of blue ice, rows of neatly arranged blue ice in front of me, which were ice cubes collected for ice sculpture construction. They seemed to be ice cubes collected after work, which might not be suitable for shooting. If you go further in, there will be some unmined ice cube piles. The ice cubes are unevenly layered and piled up together like a blue ice glacier! That's the popular photo spot~
Blue ice paired with pink sunset, people standing there can immediately take romantic photos of the blue planet. Some people even believe it's a mini Iceland in Changchun~ It also has a bit of the atmosphere of the movie 'Love Letter'.
The small train and blue ice are both at the end station 'Snow World'. If you want to hang out for a longer time, you can refer to these few stations:
1. The first station, Dam West
The frozen water surface is covered with a layer of snow
The bridge and dam slope are very biu shooting spots
2. The third station, Black Pine Forest
The Black Pine Forest is definitely a great place to shoot after the snow, and it's a great place to shoot in summer
3. The eighth station, Ski Resort
If you want to play with snow, you can get off the car here. There are ice motorcycles, snow rings, blabla, etc.
4. End station, Snow World
The winter end station is Snow World
On the left is the blue ice pile, on the right is the small train station
Be careful, careful, and careful at the blue ice pile, you might slip
Make sure to catch the last bus before 16:00, otherwise you can only walk out
In the winter of Changchun, please leave your love at Jingyuetan
If I must recommend a must-visit spot in Changchun, I would unhesitatingly choose Jingyuetan National Forest Park. It's a natural oxygen bar with a forest coverage rate of over 96%, presenting different landscapes in all four seasons. Jingyuetan in winter is tranquil and beautiful, with dreamy blue ice, frozen roses, black pine forests, the Vasaloppet Museum, and forest bathing spots that you shouldn't miss.
I came to Jingyuetan in mid-January, and you can also drive around the lake to enter Jingyuetan.
📍Location: No. 5840, Jingyue Street, Nanguan District, Changchun.
🎫Ticket: 30💰/person
🚗Driving in: 40💰/car
🚌Park sightseeing bus: 20💰/person, unlimited rides.
💕Recommended must-visit spots at Jingyuetan in winter:
1️⃣ Jingyue Snow World:
Super Snow King, frozen roses, dreamy blue ice, and beautifully carved snow sculptures. The Snow Country Train stops here, and all are photo-worthy 📷. First, go to the dreamy blue ice where any snapshot can be stunning, then dress in blue and white to match the Snow King for a perfect photo! Next, take a series of romantic Japanese-style photos by the pink train, as if you're in Hokkaido. After that, head straight to the frozen roses to feel the romance of an eternal winter.
2️⃣ Mini Forest Bathing Spot:
On the way to Snow World, you'll pass by an ice harvesting area and see an endless ice surface. Standing or running on the snow-covered ice, you can recreate the classic scenes from the movie 'Love Letter'. At sunset, the sun casts a golden glow on the ice, allowing you to quietly enjoy the romance of the setting sun.
3️⃣ Bishan Jingyue Tower:
The Bishan Jingyue Tower is a landmark of Jingyuetan. The tower is located on Guantan Mountain. From a distance, the Bishan Jingyue Tower stands tall in the vast forest, like a green guardian protecting the purity of Jingyuetan.
4️⃣ Reservoir Dam:
Jingyuetan is surrounded by mountains on three sides and a man-made reservoir dam on the other. Next to the dam, there is a circular building constructed in the same period, one of the earliest structures in the scenic area, known as the 'Water Release Tower', which is a must-photograph spot for visitors to Jingyuetan.
5️⃣ Vasaloppet Museum:
The Vasaloppet Museum at Jingyuetan features a Nordic classical architectural style. Inside, the exhibits include Dala horses, century-old skis gifted by the Swedish royal family, and exotic costumes, vividly retelling the story of 'Vasaloppet'.
6️⃣ Forest Bathing Spot:
The core scenic area of Jingyuetan, the Forest Bathing Spot, opened to the public in 1999. Known as a 'natural oxygen bar', it is rich in oxygen, with negative ions more than 100 times higher than in the city. The forest bathing spot is filled with tall and straight trees, and everything is serene and fresh. Taking photos here in winter is super atmospheric.
In summary, if you come to Changchun in winter, you must visit Jingyuetan. Here, it will truly make your trip worthwhile.
Checked in at Jingyuetan
At the bank of Jingyuetan, every breeze carries the scent of nature, as if one is in a fairyland, which is refreshing and delightful.

Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A unique experience in China
The Puppet Emperors palace is must visit if you are visiting the far north east of China. This was the seat of Manchuria government for a short time and the home of the Puppet emperor. This building is incredibly well preserved and looked after.
So often historic buildings in China are refurbished too much, leaving behind less of the history. However, you really get a feel from the palace that it has been left almost untouched since it was abandoned all those years ago.
Parking and tickets is easy. There is a large parking lot next to the attraction and we needed passports and health codes to get tickets in the ticket office on the day. There is also a metro station very nearby. The palace is not far from the city and relatively easy to get to.
I have heard that it can get very busy, however, the twice I have been it has been very quiet. There are often lots of large tour groups but we just try to avoid them and visit different rooms.
The palace is a really interesting place to spend half a day and learn about some more recent political history in China. A very unique experience in China.
Imperial Palace of Manchukuo【Museum】
The Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo is located in Changchun of Jilin Province in northeast China. From 1932 to 1945, it once served as the residence of China's last emperor Aisin Gioro Puyi and the head office of puppet Manchukuo (also known as Manchuria) set up by the Japanese Army who forcibly colonized three provinces (Liaoning, Jilin & Heilongjiang) in the Northeast China.

Pu Yi, the last emperor of the "famous" in history, is well known to people but not because he has the military merits of Qinhuang and Hanwu, nor because he has the political achievements of Kangxi and Qianlong. At the age of three, he began to ascend to the throne until 1912, and in the middle three times he became the emperor and eventually became a citizen. Throughout the history of Chinas emperor system for more than two thousand years, most emperors only took one emperors position in their lifetime, but only the last generation. The emperor Pu Yi did not bother to make three emperors one after another. It can be said that it is the only three emperors in Chinese history. Coming to Changchun, I walked into the Puppet Manchurian Museum and explored the past and present life of the last emperor's tragedy along the trajectory of history.
The last palace before the end of Qing dynast
#winhkflight
The Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo is a museum in Changchun of Jilin Province in northeast China. From 1932 to 1945, it once served as the residence of China's last emperor Puyi and the head office of puppet Manchukuo set up by the Japanese Army intruding into the Northeast of China.
The exhibits in the Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo have been set up in three sections: a display relating to the colonial state; a subject exhibition and finally, a display illustrating the daily lives of the Emperor and his concubines. Amongst the collection of important relics, there is a carpet from Jingren Palace in the Chinese Forbidden City, documents signed by Puyi and so on.
The entire palace is surrounded by high walls, and there are about ten buildings in it. The main part of the palace is divided into two sections - the outer palace and the inner palace. This was where the emperor managed the puppet state and held ceremonies and includes Qinmin Mansion, Huaiyuan Mansion and Jiale Palace.
Besides, there are other places of amusement in the outer palace, such as the garden, artificial hills, swimming pool and the horse race course. The inner palace was occupied by the Emperor and his concubines. For instance, the Emperor Puyi and the Empress Wan Rong once resided in Jixi mansion. The Museum of the Imperial Palace of Manchukuo is also a research center dealing with the history of the Japanese invasion of China and the Manchu State. In a sense, this museum provides excellent patriotic education.
Highly recommend if you are a history lover, there are many history relics here that can directly associated with history. You can rent audio guides in various languages.
I want to travel to Hong Kong to visit the iconic museums there!

World Sculpture Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
A big park with lots to see inside and out
A big park with lots to see inside and out
The park is huge and most of the visit will involve walking from one building to another. There is a shuttle bus which goes every 15 minutes between buildings but this can mean lots of waiting outside too.
There are some interesting sculptures and exhibits inside the buildings. However, it still feels like this is a developing attraction. If you are not an art lover then this museum might not be the most interesting way to spend your time in Changchun.
The most interesting building was the large hall where before Covid they held yearly sculpture making competitions. You can see some of the different works from different countries.
A perfect day out if it is not too hot or cold to enjoy the large park and surroundings at the same time. If not, relying on the bus can be a little slow and overall a less interesting visit.
Appreciate the artistic beauty of sculptures!
Changchun World Sculpture Park, a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction and one of the first batch of national key parks, is located in Nanguan District, Changchun City, Jilin Province. It stretches from Mingzhu Road in the north to Nanhuancheng Road in the south, from Renmin Avenue in the west to Yatai Street in the east, covering an area of 92 hectares, of which 11.8 hectares are water areas; the park brings together 454 pieces (sets) of sculpture art works by 404 sculptors from 216 countries and regions.
Autumn in the Sculpture Park
Autumn in the Changchun World Sculpture Park is filled with red, yellow, and a multitude of colors, incredibly beautiful, as if one is in a fairyland.
