Guest User: Really unique heritage hotel. Comfortable large room and excellent Gimlet bar with bespoke gin cocktails. Bartender made me a drink even though bar already closed for the day. Luxurious apelles bath products available for purchase below retail price. You get a lot of bang for your buck with free minibar (w beer and wine), welcome cocktails at Gimlet and a mini but high quality brekkie.

Guest User: Fantastic seaview! Room was equipped with microwave, cutleries which we could prepare breakfast and dinner. Room was clean and spacious. 10 min drive to B shed ferry terminal to Rottnest Island and there was 10% discount at nearby eateries such as Twinfin fish and chips and Ciecerello Fremantle Seafood restaurant. Thumbs up!

Guest User: Very excited about this speciality stay as it was stated the old prison facilities and had to try this experience. Was hesitant to share room with others so we took the entire unit by ourselves. The facade and surrounding like common area is nice and feels warmth. The single unit is using the cell units while the unit that we took is a newly erected wing so it's not the prison wing thus don't feel like prison but otherwise the outside and everything gives the prison vibes. Definitely recommended and must give this place a try at least once!

Guest User: Lovely older hotel with character. Our room suited us nicely, great bar and seating area, inside and out. Breakfast was delicious. My husband uses a small mobility scoot and the hotel is very accessible. The parking situation worried me initially but turned out to be easy. Best of all is the location. The pool looked great too.

Guest User: Using Google map, we found the hotel easily. If there is an option for 4.5 star, I would have given that to Service as I find it weird for the need to obtain milk from the reception. None of the lodging we stayed required this. We always had milk in the fridge. It's facilities got a 4 star instead of a 5. The parking lot was full when we returned after dinner and had to park our car near the fencing of the hotel, which did not appear to be a parking lot.

I.saat: I had a fantastic stay at this hotel and would not hesitate to book here again. The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and very comfortable. Two things that really stood out were the heater and air conditioning—they both worked perfectly and were easy to control, which made for a very comfortable stay no matter the weather. The water pressure in the shower was excellent—a small thing that makes a big difference! The location is a major plus. It's situated in a great area within easy walking distance of many fantastic cafes and restaurants. While I didn't have a chance to use them myself, I also noticed they offer guest laundry facilities and bicycles available for use, which are great amenities to have available. Overall, a wonderful, hassle-free experience. Great value for the quality and location

I was knocked on the door that night by the guest in the opposite room who was drunk, and pulled the door handle, scaring the baby !

Guest User: Absolutely delightful hotel , even though rooms are a little smaller than most , everything was designed practically to ensure a comfortable stay . The room had all the necessities it needed including a nespresso coffee machine which makes it more inviting , along with free bottled water . Check in was a breeze even though we got there early the lovely young lady in reception took the bags to the room and was ready after we explored the area and arrived back closer to 2pm check in , The wine & cheese hour next door was a lovely experience yet again welcoming team ,cosy with a fire pit burning taking the chill off . 1 drink of choice & cheese then pay for anymore drinks which is fair .Breakfast even though simple as described locally sourced bread & a selection of toppings , accompanied by homemade muesli with greek yoghurt . It was just a light start but relaxed to enjoy and watch the world go by in a nice area with some history spread around . I would definitely stay again , well worth the price hassle free nothing was an issue . Bonus even though I didn't use free bike hire along with basic gym equipment if you felt the need to work out . Big thank you for such a great experience.

I checked in with a key box and checked out with a key drop which worked perfectly, but I never saw anyone in the reception area during the whole stay.

First day in Perth and I was already running on very little energy because of the jet lag. 😂 Decided to head to Fremantle anyway and spend the day wandering around without much of a plan. I really liked how different it felt from what I expected Perth to be. The old buildings, little cafés and laid-back streets gave the whole place such a nice atmosphere. I wasn’t trying to see everything or rush from one attraction to another, especially when my body was still adjusting to the time difference. Just walking around, stopping whenever something caught my eye and getting my first taste of Western Australia. Here’s a quick recap of everywhere adventured: We kicked things off in the heart of the city, strolling down Murray Street (literally fab for shopping, food, and people-watching—all-day energy here!). Next stop was London Court, serving serious old-Europe vibes right in Perth’s CBD. Then we soaked in sunset views at Elizabeth Quay (great for those IG-worthy snaps and riverside cafes), before wandering over to Barracks Street. Kings Park blew us away with sweeping skyline views and endless walking trails—seriously, it’s one of the world’s largest inner-city parks (open 24/7, Fraser Ave, Perth WA 6005). Pack a picnic if u want! We didn’t stop there: the Fremantle Markets were a weekend highlight (open Fri–Sun 8am–6pm, 74 South Terrace, Fremantle WA 6160) packed with quirky finds, amazing eats, and local vibes. TCC was one of our favourite flavoured coffee choice out of the ordinary. Hop over to Rottnest Island for the cutest quokka selfies ever (catch ferries from B Shed, Fremantle), plus unreal beaches and cycling trails. Cottesloe, or “Cott” to locals, is Perth’s most beloved beach. It is one of the city’s most popular spots for swimming, snorkelling, surfing, and drinking in ocean sunsets with a glass of wine, a beer, or a relaxed dinner.  Lonely Planet calls it Perth’s safest swimming beach, with cafes, pubs, pine trees, and fantastic sunsets.  The Fremantle Line connects Perth CBD to Cottesloe Station, and the journey takes around 25 minutes.  The station is a short 600-metre walk from the foreshore.  The beach is about 11 kilometres from central Perth.  The beach is easy to spot. It is identified by a 100 m long groyne to the south and the central beachfront Indiana building.  There is plenty of shade and grass for picnics, and facilities include changing rooms, showers, accessible toilets, and drinking water.  South Cottesloe offers excellent snorkelling when conditions are calm.  You can also walk or cycle the coastal path north toward Swanbourne or south toward Fremantle.  For food and drink, Indiana serves pizza and seafood in a former tea house from 1910,  and the Cottesloe Beach Hotel and Ocean Beach Hotel are the places for Sunday sessions with the locals.  The historic Cottesloe Beach Hotel, built in 1905, has the best seats in the house for a sunset meal.  Pro tips: Perth’s summer UV index regularly reaches extreme levels, and the west-facing beach has full sun until sunset with no natural windbreak,  so bring sun protection and a hat. Always swim between the flags, which mark the safest swimming spot.  Parking is free, but check the signs for time limits,  or take the train instead. In March, the free Sculpture by the Sea exhibition transforms the foreshore into an outdoor gallery. Kings Park is even bigger than New York's Central Park and is completely free. Walk the treetop trail, and the Swan River and skyline are laid out before you all at once. You don't need to pick a beach; the sunset at Cottesloe is a daily occurrence. It’s not a tourist checklist item; it’s the kind of luxury where you just catch a glimpse on your way home from work. Even better, it turns "solitude" into an advantage: it’s not crowded, not rushed, and you don't have to fight anyone for a photo spot. · ——— 🎯 Three-day copy-paste itinerary ▪️ Kings Park: Catch the morning free guided walk. Volunteers will help you understand the botanical garden and observation deck in one go. It costs nothing and is packed with information. ▪️ Rottnest Island: A half-hour ferry ride to the island. Rent a bike and cycle a section; quokkas are right by the roadside, and turquoise bays appear one after another. In 2026, the single-fare cap is AUD 2.80, and the entire network is free on Sundays. There are also free CAT buses in the CBD, so transport costs can be kept almost non-existent. ▪️ Book the Rottnest Island ferry in advance. There are many departures from Fremantle, the prices are friendly, and a day trip is completely doable. ▪️ Don't oversleep for the free guided tour in Kings Park. Following the tour is much more efficient than wandering around blindly. ▪️ Don't be discouraged by the old label that "Perth is expensive." What's truly expensive is treating it as a "transit city" and staying only one night. Give it three days, and it will shower you with free beaches, free parks, and free sunsets. There's a long-term parking lot at the boat stop for $12 a day. Overall, the trip was great for families. The boat tickets are indeed expensive, as are the island's shuttle bus. But my wife and I loved it; the kangaroos alone were enough. The views from the key parking spots were spectacular. Kangaroos were everywhere. Back at the pier, buy some bread and sit by the roadside; a kangaroo will approach you. It wants bread, but it's best to feed it leaves.
