On October 29, 1931, San Diego city and Yokohama became friendly sister cities. It is a 5-minute walk from Exit 1 of Motomachi / Chinatown Station on the Minatomirai Line, next to the fountain in the center of Yamashita Park. It was established in 1982 (Showa 57) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the fourth and a half centuries since the sister city alliance with the city of San Diego in 1957 (Showa 32).
