There are not enough top-level figures to do justice to the gallery's small gems. The American West Museum of Art is located in downtown Denver and houses merchant and philanthropist Philip Anschutz. The artwork is a survey of the American West from the early 19th to mid-20th centuries. The museum is small but occupies three floors, containing more than 300 paintings and sculptures. All the major painters who painted Western paintings in the 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as many lesser known but equally outstanding painters, also participated in the exhibition. The second floor of the gallery, which began with expedition artists and illustrators who accompanied military and other expeditions in the early 1800s, provides a record of the West before the settlement changes. The next floor is a display of artworks from the Taoist Artists Association (Taos Society of Artists) from the late 19th to early 20th century. The most famous artist related to Western painting is on this floor. The next floor is the fourth floor, showing various art styles used to depict the American West. These works range from early impressionist and contemporary realist expeditions to works of art during the Great Depression. Through federal art projects sponsored by the US government. It was a Victorian building built in 1880 as a girls' school, and a few years later it was forced to foreclose and then sold to two of the West's most notorious gamblers who turned it into a hotel and a gentleman's club. Since then, its history is very colorful until it has been renovated and its Victorian charm restored to accommodate the current American West Heart collection.
